I saw two in these amazingly wonderful, and simple costumes outside the
front of the hotel for the photo shoot after the parade.
The costumes were made with curly doll fabric, with dark sheer mouths.
The eyes and antennas were on a barette, worn by the costumer. The mouth
actuom were performed by a a loop sewn inside, I believe. They used
their fists held together as the jaw.
Pics will go up once I get my cameras unpacked, if it's not already in
Flickr.
Cassie didn't make a return this year, a lot of folks were hit by the
sour economy - the area hotels suffered cancellations.
I barely made it myself, had to ride with two different groups, and
split a room with someone who had it divided eight ways. They wanted to
play some games, but the hotel's Philips TVs ran on LodgeNet, so they
could not hook up their Playstation 3 to it. I've seen others bring
their own TVs to the rooms. The limited selection SHOULD entice people
to go out of the rooms and do what I did, be out there and seeing all
the convention has to offer. The Critterlympics was great - the
costumers played some races. It was pretty cold outside, but to a
costumer, that's comfort. They also were lucky to get a Furcon "surfing
dog" water bottle.
I saw a few disabled folks join in on the parade, too. One was a comic
evil guy with an evil arm, said arm giving him a hard time maneuvering
his wheelchair. Another was in his costume, walking on a stroller. The
workshop on blind dogs and volunteering to train puppies to become guide
dogs was informative.
All in all, it was fun.
I just posted a picture of our costumes from our Halloween contest at
work:
http://tv.ph.groups.yahoo.com/group/yipyips/photos/browse/52f1?c=
Here's a link to the You Tube video of the entire skit.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQ_F_jgykJw
We had so much fun doing it. I'm getting another video of me in just
the Blue Yip Yip at the Hockey game on Halloween where I did the YMCA
dance :) Once I get it posted I'll make sure to put the link up!
We added a little yip yip to our family this year. He is six months old
now, and naturally we decided he needed his own yip yip costume for
Halloween! Photos posted to the costumes folder
<http://tv.ph.groups.yahoo.com/group/yipyips/photos/browse/db0f> .
Enjoy!

Be a dark gray yipyip. It will be seen as black if it's almost black, but still
give contrast for the mouth.

What material did you use for that? Where'd you get it? I might have to look
