You guys,
I'm right there with you. I think I wanted someone to kinda (sadly) "cry" with. I was kinda bummed, actually, and found myself just shifting in my chair wanting for it to be over. I, like Dennis, thought it would've been plenty for an episode -but certainly notta movie. I do have to say, however, that it really was kinda nice to see our FBI couple back together again. These GA & DD obviously can still pull off the magic together. And YES, I was like "WOO!" when we all found out that the "somebody with some balls" was Skinner.
Oh, you guys, such a FAR CRY from Seasons 3 & 4 (my personal favorites)!

I really didn't enjoy it. I don't know what they were thinking. As I left for the movie, remembering the two-star reviews I had seen in the newspapers, I figured "How bad can it be? As long as it's got Mulder, Scully and some monsters I'll be happy". I wasn't expecting big myth arcs or fan favourites or anything: just some basic Z Files components. And I was disappointed. There was barely anything supernatural going on and not enough scares.
People in the cinema cheered when Skinner popped in. Such a relief to see something familiar.
Billy was terrible - a really bad choice. It's amazing that it was such a disspointment when I really didn't even have high expectations in the first place.
We still have our series on DVD though, kids. Nothing lost.

So I just watched the movie I have to say the movie makes a great
episode on TV. As a theatrical film, on the other hand, its was
disappointing. As a long time fan I was happy to see the old characters
but there just wasn't enough creepiness. It was a guilty pleasure that
lasted 1.5 hours. The first 30min of the movie was actually hard to
watch for me simply because the "nods to the fans" were so forced (ie.
camera shot of the sunflower seed bowl).
I did enjoy watching M&S interacting with each other as I found myself
imagining what the dialogue would be (how would Mulder respond to
Scully). All in all, I felt the movie was really something only the fans
could enjoy. Newcomers, I fear, wouldn't be able to appreciate TXF from
this movie alone.
