I am new to Wisconsin and one of my first acts was to find the local
Browncoats!! I didn't know there were local Browncoat chapters until
I was taken to the Philly Browncoat Ball and discovered a whole new
world I was missing out on! But no longer.

I just wanted to say hi - and I'll accept any tips on where to go,
what to do, etc for WI.

(I moved here from VA btw.)

Wisconsin's sort of a big state.  Where are you at?  That would make a difference.

And for those who like reading lyrics, here ya go:

Hush, Little Citizen
Lullabye for a Somnambulant Public

Hush now, little citizen,
Forget what you have seen,
Yes, we know that it was broadwaved,
Every world on every screen,
Yes, we know you heard her dying words,
You heard her dying screams,
But please just watch our puppet show,
Don't ask who pulls the strings.

Hush now, little citizen,
Hush now, don't you cry,
Your daddy doesn't torture,
No your daddy doesn't lie,
Your daddy has it covered up,
So please don't make a fuss,
Don't pretend that you've seen monsters,
Don't pretend they look like us!

CHORUS: Don't stand up, just lie down,
There are no monsters eating flesh,
Just monsters wearing crowns.

Don't think that we are meddlesome,
Don't think we're in your heads,
You can stop the signal,
If you'll just go back to bed,
We are not some evil empire,
This is not what it seems,
So don't wake up somnambulists,
Just go back to your dreams.

CHORUS

So shut up, little citizen,
Cuz Parliament knows best,
Just put your thumb back in your mouth,
When you want to protest,
If you should start to question,
If our wars are justified,
Just swallow all our talking points,
And you'll be pacified.

CHORUS

Don't count the price of gas, my child,
Don't count the price of oil,
Don't count the price of soldier's blood,
That's shed on foreign soil.
Don't count the size of bonuses,
On Exxon-Mobil's head,
Just line up where we tell you,
For your circuses and bread.

CHORUS

We're building better nations,
Better worlds, every one,
Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan,
And we have just begun,
So if chickens should come home to roost,
Please lock Pandora's box,
Just shut your eyes and close your minds,
And listen to the fox!

CHORUS X2

Enjoy,

Cedric

A couple was invited to a swanky costume party.
The Mrs. got a terrible headache and told her husband to go to the party alone.

He, being a devoted husband protested, but she argued and said she was going to take some aspirin and go to bed and there was no need for his good time being spoiled by not going.
So he took his costume and away he went.

The wife, after sleeping soundly for about an hour, awakened without pain and, as it was still early, decided to go the party.
Since her husband did not know what her costume was, she thought she would have some fun by watching her husband to see how he acted when she was not with him.

She joined the party and soon spotted her husband cavorting around on the dance floor, dancing with every nice looking woman he could, and copping a little feel here and a little kiss there.

His wife sidled up to him and being a rather seductive babe herself, he left his   current partner high and dry and devoted his time to the new babe that had just arrived.
She let him go as far as he wished, naturally, since he was her husband.
Finally, he whispered a little proposition in her ear and she agreed.

So off they went to one of the cars and had a quickie.
Just before unmasking at midnight, she slipped away, went home, put the costume away and got into bed, wondering what kind of explanation he would make for his behavior.

She was sitting up reading when he came in, and she asked what kind of a time he had.

He said: 'Oh, the same old thing. You know I never have a good time when you're not there.'

- 'Did you dance much ?'

- 'I'll tell you, I never even danced one dance. When I got there, I met Pete, Bill Brown and some other guys and we went into the den and played poker all evening.

But you're not going to believe what happened to the guy I loaned my costume to.... !!!'

FOR SALE! My Science Fiction Collection.
From Ray Norton...... ......

The announced Garage sale for November 1st, will not happen. Due to
work, and the collection being spread out and hard to get all in one
location at one time and made ready to sell I have decided to sell on
E-Bay a few pieces at a time.

IF interested go to e-bay and look up user Rayshobbies2007. Sale will
start this next week. I will try to put some items on 2-3 times a
week. MOST prices will start at $5.00 or lower, except highly
collectables/ expensive items.

It is with a sad heart that I have to announce the sale of my personal
collection of Science Fiction/Fantasy items.

This collection has been an ongoing hobby of mine for a long time. It
was the basis of trying to start the SF Museum project that I have
worked on the last FEW years. Because that has fallen through, and the
economy being in the dumps, I now need cold hard cash! Sorry, just a
fact of life. EVERYTHING MUST GO.

These items include but are not limited to books, tapes, cd's, comics,
toys, Models, games, Christmas Ornaments, figures, posters, photos,
autographs and screen used costumes. and prop items. Large amount of
Paperback and hardbound books.

This includes items about Star Wars, Star Trek, Lost in Space,
Battlefield Earth and more. Some items left over from the old hobby
shop I had.

IF you have questions please feel free to contact me, Ray, at
other535@yahoo. com

PLEASE Send this announcement to any person or group that you feel
would be interested in this Science Fiction Sale!

THANKS

Subject: Next M.O.O.N. CON Meeting.
m_o_o_n_con1
Send Email Send Email

Greetings, Folks:

Here it is, for those who are interested in participating in the construction, preparation, and being "on the inside" of getting M.O.O.N.  CON up and running for 2009, the dates of the next scheduled meeting of the Committee to Make A M.O.O.N.  CON, combined with the meeting of the SMI Chapter, Starbase Revolution (southwest Wisconsin's ONLY organized Star Trek fan club chapter).  In keeping with our every eight weeks schedule tradition that we've developed for so far this year, the next meeting will be Saturday, December 20, 2008.  The time, since we've started this tradition, too, will be from 1600 Hours (4 p.m.) until 2030 Hours (8:30 p.m.).  The location will be chapter headquarters, as usual, 225 East Walnut, Muscoda, Wisconsin.  Mind you, now, it isn't absolutely necessary for everybody to be there for the whole four and a half hours.  We're just setting a four and a half hour window for folks to shoot for.
This also gives us an opportunity to get together for a little nosh, and take some time to socialize, as well as to discuss our plans and ideas for M.O.O.N.  CON.  It also gives us members of the Starfleet Marines Affiliate chapter to conduct our business in there, too.
Things are rolling right along, as far as the Con is concerned.  Well, as far as the scheduled activities of the Con are concerned, anyway.  What we need to focus on, people, are three high priority concepts.  The first, and most important priority is:  Money.  We need fundage to get things rolling, to make things actually happen.  It's true that the Con should be able to pay for itself, with the attendance fees, and such, but those don't all make it into our books until the end of the Con.  We need operational funds up front, folks.  Which means, we need some ideas and suggestions of fund raiser projects.  Preferrably some things we can do that require little or no expense on our part, and require minimal manpower to execute, since what few people we have involved in this project are spread across the state.
Our second priority is:  Manpower.  We need bodies, folks.  We need people to choose to involve themselves with helping to put this Convention together, as well as a large body of attendees at the Convention itself.  We need committee folks, we need volunteers, and we need panel participants, and, last but not least, we need people to help out with the fund-raiser dealies along the way.  There is one such activity scheduled for May of 2009.  It is a weekend festival thingie, hear in Muscoda, Wisconsin, the weekend of May 16 and 17.  We'll be needing folks to man a temporary bake sale booth on Saturday and Sunday.  We may need some help with our parade unit, the parade being on Sunday afternoon, the 17th of May.  Someone to video tape the parade, and our unit in particular may be needed.  So, if any of you folks wanting to get involved with the Con, have some time that weekend, it would be nice to hear from you before that weekend.
Our third priority is:  Free stuff.  Free refreshments, free snack foods, free materials for use in decorating the facility, free food for the Con suite, merchandise donated for the Sunday afternoon charity auction, free stuff to give away as prizes at costume contests, etc.  Free stuff donated for sales, or fund-raiser projects.  Promotional materials for movies that are coming out.
Anybody interested in more information about the Con can check the Con website, at www.mooncon.bravehost.com.  You can e-mail us at m_o_o_n_con1@..., or contact the chapter at starbaserevolution2002@....
We'll be sending out a reminder about the December get together about a week before the gathering.  Folks that want to come, and be part of the party, are welcome to do so.  Bring whatever you think you want to bring for refreshments, if anything.  We'll have some goodies there, in keeping with the season.  Questions, comments, suggestions, and complaints can be forwarded to the contact points previously described.
Thanks for your attention, participation, and time.

Heads up, Browncoats!

I'm posting this on this group 'cause I know what big hearts y'all have, and that you'll either help if you can, or you'll spread word to someone who can help (please copy it to any groups, boards, or lists you think might be interested in helping).

A blizzard hit Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, in South Dakota, last Wednesday and Thursday and has knocked out the power to thousands. 10 and 20 foot drifts prevent many from leaving their homes, and food and firewood are running low. Some are reportedly burning their furniture to stay warm.

Blankets, warm clothing, food (as well as fuel, water, kerosene lamps and propane) are desperately needed. For anyone in the area who wants to help, go to the Porcupine School, or call 605-867-1111. Alternately, go to nativeprogess.org or http://nativeamericanrights.wordpress.com/. Send warm clothes to: Republic of Lakotah P.O. Box 99 Porcupine, SD 57772.

A week has already gone by; do something today, if you can! It could be three to seven days MORE before power is restored.

If anyone in the area can help with the situation on the reservation or make a donation, they can get in touch with Jeri Baker through the organization's website at nativeprogress.org or call John Dubray directly on the reservation at 605-441-5477.

Greetings of the season, everyone:

This is just a reminder, to those folks that currently are, or wish to be a part of making M.O.O.N.  CON 2009 happen, that our next semi-official meeting of the committee/crew dedicated to that end, will be Saturday, December 20, 2008*.  The location, unfortunately, remains the same as the last two...World Headquarters of Starbase Revolution (southwest Wisconsin's ONLY organized Star Trek fan club chapter), and Middle Of Outer Nowhere CON, 225 East Walnut Street, Muscoda, Wisconsin  53573.  The time, traditionally, will be from 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  This doesn't mean that the actual "business" portion of the meeting is that long, just that we're giving people a large window of time to shoot for, to get there, since a lot of us are spread pretty far across the state.
Those who won't be able to attend, but wish to have input, or stay current as to what's going on, can contact us at m_o_o_n_con1@..., or starbaserevolution2002@....  Or, call (608) 739-3739.  Updates as to what's happening at the Convention will be posted to the web-site (www.mooncon.bravehost.com) as they are instituted.  Any questions regarding the upcoming meeting can be directed to the same contact points.  Suggestions can be submitted via those means, also.
As usual, we're going to try to have some munchables, and edibles available for everyone who shows up.  Any of those planning to attend, who wish to make a contribution to that supply, is/are welcome to do so (in fact, it would be greatly appreciated).  Again, as usual, we'll try to keep to the Holiday theme, as to refreshments and edibles.
If you are new to our gatherings, that is, have not been a part of any before now, and you plan to attend, please, let us know, so we can calculate how many chairs, utensils, edibles, drinkables, and such we need to have available.  If you've been to one before, you need not inform us as to your attendance (but you can if you want to), we'll just plan for you to be there, even if it turns out that you can't come that day.
*In the event of inclement weather (like the mess we had this Monday evening, December 8, and Tuesday morning, December 9) we won't expect anyone to struggle with navigating all that way to our home grounds.  We'll just re-schedule our meeting for another day...perhaps when weather turns much better.  Should that occur, we highly recommend contacting us to discuss what would've been discussed at the meeting December 20th.

Your Friendly Neighborhood M.O.O.N. MAN,
Bob Poole

The weather blows.....
and snows, and rains, and freezes, and who knows what all.

This message is just to remind everybody concerned, or interested in any way in the goings on of the preparations for M.O.O.N. CON, etc., that, things being what they are, and aren't they always, the executive committee of the M.O.O.N.  CON Conventin Committee has elected to reschedule our next meeting/gathering.

As the weather is turning unfriendly for the upcoming weekend, which is exactly when we had schedule the M.O.O.N. Con Holiday Gathering/Con Committee Meeting, we're thinking it best to let this one pass us by.  We won't expect folks to try to get out in that mess and travel to the Middle Of Outer Nowhere to decide  who, what, when, where, why, and how for M.O.O.N.  CON.

Everyone please stand-by, however,  for a rescheduling of that meeting  for, most likely, some time in January.  In the meantime, however, we can still be contacted through the usual means, for online, over the telephone, and e-mail discussions of the upcoming convention.  As long as we have electrical power, we will be accessible.  Should, however, there be an interruption in electrical power, due to the weather, we may be out of touch for a  while.  As our "hand crank" electrical generatior is currently OUTSIDE, and will probably remain there through the next millenium, we shan't be able to supply our computer with energy until the electrical utility restores service.

We do thank everyone for their interest, and their input.    We'll see you folks next year.

Greetings, and Felicitations of the Season to All
(and to everybody else, as well)

After a good deal of attempting to get caught up on all that we've found ourselves getting behind in (on?), we have decided to alert any who may be interested in "what's going on with M.O.O.N.  CON," and those who are wishing to be participatory in helping to put this convention together, that we are not going to use "THIS" avenue of communication to notify everybody of "what's up?"  Instead, we are encouraging everyone to join the yahoogroup list for M.O.O.N.  CON (m_o_o_n_con1 at yahoo groups).  We're going to begin posting the updated information, meeting announcements, and a whole bunch of other stuff concerning M.O.O.N.  CON at our yahoo group.  It will also serve as a method of two-way, and interactive communication for those of us who find it difficult to get together every fifteen minutes.
Right now,  starting New Year's Eve, you can find the schedule for our Con Committee/Chapter meetings there.  Yes, the whole schedule.  Starting with January (our very next meeting), and meeting monthly all the way up to M.O.O.N.  CON weekend in July, as well as any other activities that we are planning, or have planned at the moment.  There will be updates as to Guests of Honor, and activities that will be planned for the Con.  Pretty much anything that anyone would want to know about M.O.O.N. CON, will be posted, or discussed there.  Join us now, folks.
And thank you for your attention.

Come and join the Greenville Browncoats for some fun and double crossing.
We will be LARPing in the beautiful Camp Buckhorn located within Paris
Mountain State Park in South Carolina.  We would love for you to join us
on our adventure on May 1st - 3rd 2009.

Our Story: Welcome to Jiangyin a Border planet where hill folk are known
to frequently kidnap skilled folk they need.  You will be visiting the town
of Missed Fortune. You will find there is Back stabbing, Double Crossing and
just plain ole cheatinʼ going on in this little town located way out in the
Black.

It seems as if new people in town are constantly disappearing.  The theory
is that the Hill folk are kidnapping some of the new people who arrive in
town, but are they?  When every one is armed and dangerous, who can you
trust?

A Space Crew arrives in Missed Fortune; they have an honest job (or is
it?) delivering a rather large box to a local address.  After the delivery
they are supposed to pick up their pay at Missed Fortuneʼs Post Office.
Evidently this delivery contains something that someone in town doesnʼt want
just dropped on their front doorstep, so it is being delivered to an old
home on the back street of the city.

The Crew scope out the town and find where to deliver the package.  Their
inquiries around town attract a lot of unwanted attention.  What could be in
the box that would cause so much local chaos?   Who would want to have it
delivered anonymously?

The package is delivered and then the crew attempt to high tail it out of
town (Before getting paid?) and find themselves surrounded by two different
groups of very unhappy & armed people.

Our characters are going to have to find a way to muddle through this
predicament hopefully with their hides in one piece. A little bit of good
old fashioned smooth talking and double-crossing will be in order to survive
this one.  Are you up for it?  Will you be Townsfolk, part of the Space Crew
or some other mysterious character?  Itʼs all up to you.

What is the cost for this weekend of fun you ask?  You will play the Game,
get 5 meals, 2 nightʼs lodging and both Friday and Saturday evening Socials,
along with a few classes for the low cost of $100 per person, when you
pre-pay.  If you prefer to pay @ the door, your cost for everything listed
will be $175.  If you prefer to stay some other place we can figure a price
for you too, just let us know.

Greetings:

Some of you folks are interested in "what's-going-on-with" M.O.O.N.  CON.  And, some of you have heard the news that our Convention Coordinator's house burned up (burned down??), in January of this year.  As a consequence, we've had to relocate, at least temporarily, our operational headquarters for the Convention.  Also, we have to find a new location to hold our Con Committee meetings.  Subsequently, we've elected to postpone the much needed meeting that was scheduled for this February 28 (a Saturday), until we can determine an appropriate location for everyone to attend, and until we can gather up our materials and information
from the debris.
Those who are interested in further information may find it at the Convention Yahoo Group LIst, at the Convention Web Site, or may e-mail us at this e-address, or telephone at the new, temporary, 24 hour hotline for M.O.O.N.  CON (cell # 608-293-3497).  Anyone interested in being a part of M.O.O.N.  CON can "join up" at the Yahoo Group List -

Thanks for your attention.

NASA is letting the general public name the next node of the International Space Station.

One of the options is "SERENITY"

Let's get our girl into atmo for real.

  Go to: http://www.nasa. gov/externalflas h/name_ISS/ index.html to vote.

You can vote once a day until March 20th!

Help put SERENITY back in flight because they can't take the sky from us!

Does NASA know? Surely someone who generated the list is a browncoat!

I plan to vote every day until they close the voting!
