This is just an enquiry as to whether episodes 2-6 of the Sensorites
are done or awaited sometime soon.
If not I could do the remaining 5 to finally complete the original
Hartnell run.

"The Mind of Evil" episodes 5 and 6 have been added to the files as
well as "The Claws of Axos" episode 1. In response to the previous
two messages, I don't know of anyone who is doing the scripts
mentioned.

If you were enquiring with a view to transcribing I'd say that (As
far as I can remember) your list looks safe at the moment, so you can
pick one and add it to the list below.

On the other hand if you were wanting to read them, I don't know when
they'd be availible.
At the moment, I'm trying to get done the bits of the 60s no-one else
wants to do, and the others seem to be busy with their own things.

I believe these are the transcripts which are in production at the
present. It might be an idea for us to keep something like this to
avoid complications here.

The Sensorites <2-6>(Dulkis)
The Dominators <2-4>(Dulkis)
The Krotons <3, 4>(Dulkis)
The Seeds of Death <6> (Dulkis)
The War Games <7-9> (Dulkis)
Earthshock (robertjon82)
Ghostlight (narlythotep2002)
The Curse of Fenric (narlythotep2002)
Warriors Gate (narlythotep2002)
The Macra Terror <Rev> (jtomlin1uk)
The Claws of Axos (jtomlin1uk)
Slipback (Cameron Mason & Chris Vobe)
The Pirate Planet (Chris McElroy)

Any disputes, corrections or additions to the list are welcome.

As you all know, there are lots of episodes that still need
transcribing and there aren't a massive amount of people to do it.
So, I was trying to think of how we could maybe find a way of making
transcribing easier so that we could get through all these episodes
quickly. What if we were all allocated certain episodes to transcribe
individually, so then once we had finished transcribing the episodes
we were given, we could come back and post them? That way,
transcribing would be made a lot easier and quicker and we could
probably get through all the episodes sooner.

I know there are things to consider like people may not have certain
episodes to transcribe and I know that it would take a while to do
but if people got involved and agreed to do it, we could then be
given episodes to go away and transcribe so that way we would know
what episodes were coming up and we could be certain that every
episode would get transcribed.

I'm not saying that this could be done very quickly as I know it
takes a long time to transcribe even one episode, but how would
people feel if we did start to do that?

And also I have THE SONTARAN EXPERIMENT to post in the next week or
so.

With regard to the previous message, I would prefer not to allocate
episodes to certain individuals. Suppose someone new came along who
was able to transcribe and deliver at a regular interval and all
episodes were already allocated? They would either be put off totally
or a massive task of re-allocation would have to take place.

As only the original submittor can make a change to a file doc, I
would post the correct details in a message detailing the error for
the submittor to amend. No need to feel shy! I have often found
errors in my own stuff some time after I have "finished" a
transcript. The overall project is more important than an individuals
ego!

Well, OK then. I've been looking at "The Five Doctors."

First, the initial conversation between Tegan and D5 should read
(corrections marked by % signs):

TEGAN: But will the TARDIS %work% properly?

5th DOCTOR: Of course. Once everything's %run in%.

The term "run in" has several meanings, according to Webster's Online
Dictionary (www.m-w.com), but the operative one here seems to be:

3 /chiefly British/ : to operate (a new machine) carefully until
there is efficient running

Right, moving on. The description at the start of Scene 2 says that
Turlough "sits on a rock and starts sketching the countryside laid
out in front of him." That's accurate for the original edition, but
the same text was used for the Transcript of the Special Edition, in
which Turlough "sits" and "starts" in the first scene. By the time
the Doctor and Tegan have had their initial conversation, and the
Doctor joins Turlough outside, he's already begun. So in sum, the
same description can't be used for both Transcripts.

At the end of that scene:

5th DOCTOR: Why not? For a while. We could do with a rest.

Now I need to go back and watch again... doesn't he say "We could %
all% do with a rest?" Oh well... minor point.

Scene 13:

2nd DOCTOR: Brigadier, I think our past is catching up %with% us. Or
maybe it's our future. Come on, run!

Scenes 19 & 20: Here's a MAJOR problem. The text currently reads:

===

SARAH-JANE: Well, now I know you're imagining things. See you later.
(She opens the gate and leaves)

K9: Danger! Doctor! Danger! Mistress!

The camera pans to a sign on the gate that reads: Beware of the Dog.

Scene 20: EXT: CAMBRIDGE, THE RIVER CAM

(This scene taken from episode one of 'Shada')

The 4th Doctor and the second Romana are enjoying a ride in a punt.

ROMANA: Isn't it wonderful how something so primitive can be so…

4th DOCTOR: Restful?

===

Now, I have the VHS cassette of both the Special Edition and the non-
Special Edition of The Five Doctors. I know the non-SE shows the
scene this way -- but I am 100% sure that the original broadcast
version, at least the one shown here in the States, did NOT include
K9's "Danger! Doctor!" line, and that it also picked up the "Shada"
sequence earlier, in the same place the SE version does: with D4
listing off a bunch of "famous thinkers from Cambridge."

Is this a difference in the US and UK broadcast versions, dating back
to 1983? Can anyone else comment on this?

(The Transcript for the SE describes the entire "Shada" excerpt.)

(BTW, I'm glad to know that word Baker uses is "Restful." I've never
been able to make it out.)

In the same scene:

4th DOCTOR: So's the TARDIS. [???]

I think that should be "So was the TARDIS." And then he forces a
little laugh, which sounds kinda like "Ha ha" or "Pa ha."

From this point on, it seems pretty good, but I have yet to read the
entire thing. However, one more thing I will mention, about the SE
Transcript: in Scene 94, the following does not occur in the SE:

The TARDIS appears to form three other TARDISes, which fly off in
separate directions.

In the SE, instead, the time scoop is used again to transport the
various Doctors and companions back to their own times. The time
scoop graphic is overlaid on the standing TARDIS.

That sounds like a lot of nitpicking, and I suppose it is, but I do
want to add what a wonderful job has been done on these scripts
overall!

I was reading the transcript for "The Two Doctors" and noticed the
line where Dastari asks the Doctor, "What do you think of my
shuttling?"

I think that's supposed to be chatelain, which refers to a governor
or warden of a castle or fort, according to Webster's Online.

(Much to my surprise, when I looked up the word, www.m-w.com actually
directed me to its synonym: castellan!)

I agree with John here.
If anyone finds any dialogue mistakes in a person's transcripts,
amendments can be posted in messages here for convenience, provided
(of course) that only the episode's scene number and ammended
passages are posted from the transcripts. And then the original
transcriber can decide to change the things if they wish.

K9's line was in the original broadcast.
It seems the Five Doctors has had a bit of a ride. Broadcast as one,
repeated in episodes, edited for overseas broadcast, released edited
on VHS and Betamax, released on laserdisc, re-released (unedited) on
VHS again , remastered in a way that made it worse than the original
for yet another VHS release - then released on DVD on both sides of
the Atlantic, but without Uncle Tewwy's commentry here in the UK.
How shall we celebrate 40 years of time travelling? What about a Five
Doctors release, but this time with Easter eggs? :)

>So, I was trying to think of how we could maybe find a way of making

Sara: Interesting idea, but speed isn't really the object. As long as
most of us are occupied there will be at least a few new episodes for
people to read every so often. It seems to work as a kind of free for
all here, providing that two people aren't unknowingly doing the same
thing.
Breaking the stories into episodes for people may work to share the
stories around when there are only a few left; but as it is, there is
more than enough for everyone.

(Dæmons)
>Could anyone tell me what the coven say - it sounds like "Eoh evoteh"
>or "Eko evoteh"! Could anyone say for sure?

I don't know how the script book matches, but according to pages 39
and 41 of the novelisation it's:

"Io Evohe"

And the later incantation is:

"EV A, EV ARA, EGABALA!
GAD, GADOAL, GALDINA!"

Now if someone could just tell me how to spell what is being said in
the French bits in the War Games episode 7, I'd be able to post it.
The novelisation seems to be no use for that scene.
