Hey guys! I'm a huge fan of Twin Peaks, as I'm sure most of you here
are too! I was wondering if there are any Twin Peaks fans here from
NYC! It would be cool to have a friend that's a Twin Peaks fan! Take
care...Joey

I know it's been a long wait, and we probably mostly all have some
copies of the episodes of season 2 in some format or another, but

I CAN'T WAIT

until season 2 is finally officially released in its cleaned-up, box
set format. If you didn't already know, it's scheduled for release
April 10th in the US, and there are reviews out and about (including
one on yahoo taken from DVDfile.com). Not such intense extras as
season 1 apparently, but I know that my copied-to-dvd from VHS
versions (my vcr died - I didn't want to buy a new one just for TP)
have got to go!

10 more days!!!

I don't know how many people get this channel (I have directv), but I
was just flipping around and saw that the Chill channel (257) is
playing something titled simply "Twin Peaks" in half an hour.

I don't really know what it is that they're showing precisely. It's
listed at an hour, so it isn't the pilot, and the description was
something highly useful like "an FBI agent investigates a murder in a
small town" which could indicate just about anything, but this sounds
like an episode of the series.

In any case, I know this channel was just added to my lineup, so if
you get this station, look for some Twin Peaks enjoyment! If they're
playing one episode, there may be more in the near future.

(I think there must be a minor gear-up for the dvd release - FWWM was
just on IFC a couple nights ago too!)

Of course, I'm excited. I'll expect I'll be getting it shortly after
release. The question is: when will we see the pilot? Until then,
this will feel incomplete.

It was an interview with Jennifer Lynch and also has a
great feature on the last disc where they interview a
lot of the cast.

The quality of the show is really good but the log
lady intros are poor quality.

I agree with this assessment. I really had to crank up the volume to
hear her. Thank goodness for subtitles. I felt like Gordon Cole!! I
found it amusing, though, in a way.

Now, maybe it was the fact that it was late and I was tired. Or maybe
I'm becoming more spiritually-inclined or a much more expansive-minded
individual in my older years (I'm 32 now-lol!), but a lot of the
intros had SO much meaning to me. I mean, I watched and re-watched
them, and eventually just wrote most of them down. I tell you, my
brain just picked them up and ran with them finding meaning after
meaning in them. Well, except for the drawer pull one. I haven't
gotten anything out of that one yet. But I'm working on it. :)

In any case, there were so many little details that I had forgotten,
so many wonderful things that made the show so rich and the release of
the second season has been such a blessing. And I don't care if
anybody re-releases the whole darn thing in a new matching set, my
mind and soul are just so relieved to have the whole thing. And yes,
I'll probably be one of the suckers who buys the whole thing again.
But a backup ain't a bad thing to have, ya know?

I hope everyone has a most blessed Easter and an altogether wonderful
weekend!

jenn.

Seems to me...and please correct me if I'm wrong...that the Log Lady intros were filmed after the series went off the air.  The were produced and added to the second-run broadcast when Twin Peaks was aired on the BRAVO Channel a few years back.  The sound quality during those airings was pitiful back then, too.

The Log Lady intros were specifically filmed for Bravo. Obviously
they decided to include them in the set. I taped them initialy off
of Bravo, and I don't think the quality was ever that good. I
believe David Lynch himslef did them.

I always thought they added to the show, too. They added mystery,
and a few clues as well. Personally, I think the drawer pull
reference was merely a weak way of adding mystery and atmosphere.
Very weak. I mean, Josie's spirit trapped in a drawer knob? Like I
said, very weak.

As far as a matching set, I'll probably end up getting one, too. I
think I read in an article on tvshowsondvd, com they were planning
one, including the pilot. That's probably when we'll finally see it
released. I wonder if it will take them another 5 years to do it.

The interview with Jennifer Lynch was ok. Frankly, I was extremely
disappointed in the cast interviews. All they are is synapses of how
the actors got involved in the series. That's it. I think the cast
interviews were better for Season 1. You had Kyle MacLachlan,
Sherilyn Fenn, even David Duchovny giving their time for this.
However, at best, all that was shown was maybe a minute. Maybe they
are saving the extended interviews for a complete series release. At
least, I'm hoping.

I haven't seen the director interviews, yet.

I've only seen the first couple of shows, but the quality overall
seems very good. I do think it's possible the Log Lady interviews
were meant to be low quality. I don't know why, as Lynch himself
filmed them. I suppose it could have been to make them more
mysterious. Just a guess.

I had initially thiught that the interviews just came in 1 peice each.
I decided to put them on again. I now see how to use the grid to give
you the other peices of the interviews. Ok, duh.

Well, I have to say I'm not too surprised.  I am glad that the gold box may not actually come to be.  This is such not a "golden" series.  I think that sort of thing gets reserved for...shall I say what first popped to mind..."The Wizard of Oz".  Funny I should pick that one.

Anyway, Twin Peaks needs a darker look for the collectors set and I'm glad about that.  Now, as for the "facts" being potentially completely wrong, as initially reported by the site, I have the sinking feeling that this will include the bit about the inclusion of the pilot episode.  What other facts or suppositions were there other than the release date?

what do you expect. I have had the pilot on DVD for years. Walked

It's been reported here tvshows ondvd.com - Twin Peaks  that Artisan had the rights to the first season for some time, and released the dvd set.  The rights reverted to paramount recently.  Thus, with some well placed anticipatory timing, we are finally getting everything.

The pilot you have was commonly available in the states for some time.  I have it on vhs.  It's what was shown to the execs at ABC, but I don't personally consider it the pilot.
