*** What's working for me ... ***
1. ABC's Bob Woodruff going back to Iraq. He gave several reasons for returning
to the place where he was gravely injured in 2005, but he only needed one: to
"get back on my horse."
2. Neil Patrick Harris to host the Emmys. After his showstopping, show-ending
number at the Tony awards took YouTube by storm, this decision was as brilliant
as it was obvious.
3. "Eureka." Whether you watch it on SyFy, MyFi or wi-fi, don't miss one of
summer's perfect little shows.
... and what's not
1. "Dollhouse." Well, I was pulling for it, but now that KC's womanly writing
tandem of Craft and Fain have jumped to "Lie to Me," the show is dead to me.
2. "Parenthood." The NBC series "inspired" by the 1980s movie was put on hold
two months while star Maura Tierney recovers from illness. Judging from the
pilot episode, I hope the producers use that time to heal the show of its
lameness.
3. ESPN's Home Run Derby. This is the biggest waste of television time and hype
since the NBA's slam dunk contest. Or at least it will be until a Royal is
invited to it.
