THIS WEEK AT THE TV BARN

HERE'S WHAT'S WORKING FOR ME ...
"Grey's," "CSI," "The Office" rescheduled after storms. The outrage of having
last week's lightning flashes wipe out most of an hour of Thursday's prime time
was cooled just a bit when the CBS, NBC and ABC stations in town got the
all-clear to reair the missed episodes.
CBS gives KCTV-5 a "Survivor" do-over. After Katie Horner obliterated the
suspenseful ending to last week's tribal council to tell us about a storm near
Chillicothe, the network could've just said, "Your problem, not ours!" Instead,
CBS graciously let KCTV re-air the entire show.
"The Alzheimer's Project." If you missed the free preview for non-HBO
subscribers, find someone who pays for it and catch this important series about
caring for those with this terrible disease.
... AND WHAT'S NOT
Analog severe storm coverage in a DTV age. The time is coming when all local TV
viewing will be in digital. Seems to me the local stations will lose their last
excuse for ruining the evening for three-fourths of the metro area just to tell
the other one-fourth that a big storm is headed their way.
"Prison Break" two-hour finale bumps "Dollhouse" finale. "Prison Break," which
was cancelled months ago, gets to go out with a bang while "Dollhouse," still a
going concern, will have to put its season ending episode on DVD. What's wrong
with this picture?
Tom Heald, RIP. He contributed more to my web sites than anyone else. He was
just 36. He is and will be dearly missed.
*** What's on TVB right now ***
<p>Tom Heald, the person who contributed more to TV Barn than anyone save
myself, and a man who kept a whole virtual community of TV watchers and
late-night aficionados going, died unexpectedly last week.

<p>I seem to be getting the Greensburg contagion. Now I'm checking out (and
making videos of) sustainable architecture in my own backyard:
http://tr.im/l1pc</p>
<p>All my green coverage is now collected at http://tvbarn.com/greensburg</p>
<p>Amazingly, the CBS affiliate clipped the crucial final minutes of Thursday's
"Survivor" to bring viewers a tornado that was forming way out of the metro
area: http://tr.im/kPHa</p>
<p>Speaking of CBS, remember that "60 Minutes" piece that gushed over Bank of
America chairman Ken Lewis? Um ... http://tr.im/kDgB</p>
<p>"The More You Know" PSA campaign is turning 20. Here's my tribute page of
Conan's parody ads: http://tr.im/kPSK</p>
<p>Local Emmy winners videos now online: http://tr.im/kUpe</p>
