HERE'S WHAT'S WORKING FOR ME ...


1. Flash video on TV. Adobe's announcement this week that the technology behind
YouTube (home of the Susan Boyle phenomenon), Hulu and other popular video
websites is coming to your big screen is the news flash of the year.

2. No strikes till 2011. SAG and IATSE, two of Hollywood's biggest unions,
announced they're close to labor peace with the studios. There goes that excuse
for weak TV shows.

3. Craig Ferguson's "Say Hey" video. You have to see it to believe it (I've got
it at TVBarn.com).

... AND WHAT'S NOT

1. The Fairness Doctrine. Yes, conservatives flooded the zone prior to last
week's Tax Day protests. So what? They blew off some steam, then it was over and
we got back to discussing Susan Boyle. Is that a reason to re-regulate radio?
(Watch me debate the FD with a nostalgic liberal at TVBarn.com.)

2. WE's scary new weight-loss show. In "I Want to Save Your Life," premiering
Saturday, "diet detective" Charles Stuart Platkin puts the fear of death into
women about their bodies. Because that's never been tried before. Where's Carson
Kressley when you need him?

3. "Reaper," RIP. The trades are saying my favorite new show last season isn't
coming back from the dead.
