You know, what I'd really like to know is *why* the writers continue
with this crap storyline. It *can't* just be because one of the
writers tends to hang out on S/J lists and has his little sycophants
in that quarter, surely.
Sci-Fi go on about wanting the young male demographic to become
fans - well, they're not going to get them by having Sam and Jack
making eyes at each other.
The online fandom is only a tiny part of the Stargate fandom, but
just looking at Yahoo lists shows that S/J is not the be-all-and-end-
all for most fans. Admittedly, the SJ list has almost 2000 members
(though the membership spurts certainly look suspicious) but the
Vocal Minority has over 2300.
I'm just stunned that S/J keeps rearing its very ugly and tasteless
head time and again, even after Hank Cohen himself said that it was
dead some years back. If they simply want fans to be talking about
the show they're going to find that it's going to back-fire, because
fans are going to be leaving the show in droves if this continues
much longer. Fans have been happily talking this year about the
first four episodes - the team feel, the *platonic* relationships,
the fact that we seemed to have our old Stargate magic back. Now,
there's just dissent, unhappiness and disgust <shrug> If I was one
of TPTB I'd be pretty worried about now.
