BABYLON 5: THE LOST TALES

BURBANK, CA, April 24, 2007 - Created by J. Michael Straczynski in
1993, Babylon 5 became a Sci-Fi cult fan favorite and a top rated
show. Now in 2007, Warner Home Video (WHV) and Warner Bros.
Television (WBTV) will take you to 2271 A.D. for Babylon 5: The Lost
Tales,a made-for-video movie featuring the original cast including
Bruce Boxleitner ("President John Sheridan"), Tracy Scoggins
("Captain Elizabeth Lochley") and Peter Woodward ("Galen"). Babylon
5: The Lost Tales will be released on July 31, 2007 for $24.98,
making it the first WHV made-for-video title for one of their popular
TV franchises. Region 2 is scheduled for a Sept. 3, 2007 release and
is available for pre-order at Play.com and other outlets.
Written and directed by show creator J. Michael Straczynski, this
made-for DVD movie is a spectacular vision of B5 and New York City in
the 23rd century as it uses the most innovative filmmaking
technology, which was unavailable during the original series.
On an immense space station built by the Earth Alliance, the crew of
Babylon 5 is charged with maintaining the peace among the various
alien races by providing a sanctuary where grievances and
negotiations can be worked out among duly appointed ambassadors.
Babylon 5: The Lost Tales picks up the dramatic series in 2271A.D,
ten years after John Sheridan is appointed President of the
Interstellar Alliance.

The Lost Tales follows Sheridan as he prepares for a fateful Babylon
5 reunion that could prevent Earth's impending doom. Unfortunately,
he is also forced to compromise his own principals in doing so. At
the same time, commander Lochley confronts an unexpected interloper
on the way station - a being whose presence makes the B5 freeport the
crossroads between heaven and hell.

Babylon 5 garnered countless honors including two Emmys, two Hugo
Awards, the Ray Bradbury Award from the Science Fiction Writers of
America, the Saturn Award, five English Media 'Cult TV' Awards, the
Sci-Fi Universe Reader Choice Award for Best TV Series and was the
winner of the TV Guide Poll for Best Sci-Fi Show among others. The
show also enjoyed 9 successful years in syndication, spawned five
feature length TV movies, and now a made-for-video installment.

DVD special features include:

* Straczynski Diaries - a multi-part series of vignettes as filmed by
J. Michael Straczynski as he documents every phase of pre-production,
production and post- production for The Lost Tales. Viewers are given
a first person, inside look at the creative process of making the
Babylon5 film.

"Babylon 5: The Lost Tales has a richly imagined storyline and an
extraordinary vision of the 23rd century created by the renowned J.
Michael Straczynski. WHV is excited to release this made-for-video
title that continues the storyline of Babylon 5, one of the most
successful science fiction series of all time," said Jeff Brown, WHV,
Senior Vice President and General Manager, TV, Animation and
Family. "Although the show has been off the air for a few years, it
continues to have a fervent fan base that is eager for this new
installment."

Marketing Support
Babylon 5: The Lost Tales will be supported by extensive national
media campaign including TV and Online advertising. Marketing support
will also include significant presence at the San Diego ComicCon.
Online podcasts and a completely new redesigned website will also

BABYLON PODCAST #64
Welcome to Show #64!
Summer, Tim C and Tim A banter, and gee, I guess you really, really
missed me!

Tim C and Summer both managed to score copies of Babylon 5 Script
Book Volume 11, thanks to generous contributions from our listeners.
It's a lovely and much appreciated act, and we both truly thank you
all.

We will also be receiving a review release of "The Lost Tales" DVD,
so we will be providing you with a full review of the film and the
DVD contents. Don't hate us… we're doing this for you, our listeners!
Deep Geeking: This episode revolves around geeking on "In the Shadow
of Z'ha'dum", a pivotal second season episode that remains a powerful
episode to watch even after all these years.

We move from a casual observation that Morden, a dead man, has been
seen doing business on the station, through a potential diplomatic
rescue by the Centauri, through the borderline alienation of key
station personnel, to an intervention by Delenn and Kosh, all to
prevent an irate and obssessed Sheridan from breaking Morden and
obtaining too much truth too soon about what the Shadows are and what
they're up to.

Listener Feedback: Just for the record, the FarPoint tag is
officially spelled "boohkie", all because Google kept pulling up
websites for bookmakers. Make a note of it.

Edmund comments on the Shadows being behind the escalation of the
Drazi's green/ purple conflict; Gary from Jacksonville sends a
priority Gold Channel request for Summer's return to the mic; Gary
again, with yet another call for a Babylon Podcast Fan Show… Yikes?
Do you want to see any Babylon Podcast swag? Currently, there's swag
for other FarPoint Media shows over at Podcast Junk, so if you're
interested in buying podcast related swag, let us know, and maybe we
can add this show to the swag store. I definitely want to use the
name "Sunhawks" as the team name for the purple and green Babylon
Podcast football jerseys.

I don't know think it would be a licensing infringement for using the
name, but use of any Drazi logo probably would be. I'm still trying
to find out who to talk to about that.

To catch up on the Babylon Podcasts, go to www.babylonpodcasts.com or

NEWS FROM AROUND THE WORLD OF SCIENCE FICTION

BIONIC WOMAN
Katee Sackhoff from BATTLESTAR GALACTICA will play the original
cyborg in NBC's BIONIC WOMAN SF series. "I play Sarah Corvus,"
Sackhoff said in an interview at the Saturn Awards in Los Angeles on
May 10. "She's the original bionic woman. The first bionic woman. She
doesn't let anyone forget it. And she's kind of gone off the
reservation. She's a little crazy." Sackhoff, who plays fighter jock
Starbuck in BATTLESTAR, will star in THE BIONIC WOMAN opposite
Michelle Ryan, who plays Jamie Sommers. Sackhoff revealed that her
character will have two bionic arms, "both legs, two eyes, one ear,
part of my chest." The show is a reimagining of the original 1970s
series, which starred Lindsay Wagner as Jamie Sommers. Sackhoff said
that her character would be part of the series as well. Sackhoff
added: "My biggest fear was that Sarah Corvus was going to turn out
like Starbuck. But she didn't. She turned out a little like Number
Six [laughs]. She's the femme fatale. She's dangerous. She's sexy.
She knows it, and she uses it. She walks with a purpose, and Starbuck
really doesn't. It's ... two different sides of the coin, but both
misunderstood." THE BIONIC WOMAN, from Battlestar executive producer
David Eick, is being looked on favorably by NBC, Sackhoff said. "It
hasn't been [picked up] ... officially," she said. "Unofficially,
I've heard that it's getting picked up. But officially, we'll find
out Monday."

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA
Battlestar Galactica's search for Earth continues to be an open-ended
adventure, executive producer David Eick said. Contrary to comments
by Edward James Olmos (Adm. Adama) at the Saturn Awards on May10, no
end has been announced for the award-winning show. BATTLESTAR
GALACTICA is preparing to film its fourth season, one that will
include 22 episodes, rather than the previously announced 13. "For
those of you who have been paying attention over the years, this is
not the first time Eddie has made an announcement about the
possibility of the show's end," chuckled Eick. "I promise you that
when [executiuve producer] Ron [Moore] and I make a decision about
Galactica's future, we'll let you know."

HEROES
While at the Saturn awards picking up the best supporting actor
award, Masi Oka, who plays Hiro in HEROES, said that the upcoming
season finale will have a resolution of the first season and a
cliffhanger in the last three minutes that will lead directly into
season two. "I think it's great the way the finale ends," Oka
said. "It's a wrapping up of volume one, which is [called] 'Genesis.'
And it wraps up the whole bomb storyline. So it's a nice finale, and
there's a great cliffhanger with everybody, I would say. And you do
get to see a little bit of volume two, which is
called 'Generations.'" George Takei will be returning as Hiros'father
on the show and he has some involvement with the mysterious O.W.I.,
or Organization Without Initials. "It's going to be pretty
fantastic," Oka said of the next episode, titled "Landslide." "[Takei
is] there, and we get a little bit of a training montage, like a
Karate Kid thing. ... He might be part of the O.W.I. We don't know.
The whole O.W.I. could be something bigger than we think. And as I
say, volume two is called 'Generations.' What does that mean? Does
that mean the past? There's going to be some more things with
generations of other families, or is it generations in terms of
years? Eras? Who knows?" As for the final episode, Oka said it was a
difficult shoot, but the efforts of the cast and crew paid off in the
end. "The big finale has been amazing because we had a lot of long
nights," he said. "Because of the location, we had to shoot
overnight. So we'd have 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. day after day after day. It
was tough on the crew, tough on the cast. ... But it's going to be
fantastic. The finale's going to be the bomb. Literally and
metaphorically." HEROES airs Mondays at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

FLASH GORDON
Gina Holden (Fantastic Four) has been cast as Dale Arden, the female
lead in SCI FI's upcoming series FLASH GORDON. She will co-star
opposite Eric Johnson (Smallville), who plays the title character. In
other casting, Jody Racicot (Night at the Museum) will play Dr. Hans
Zarkov, and John Ralston (Earthstorm) will play the villainous Ming.
Holden, who also appeared in The Butterfly Effect 2 as well as the
upcoming Alien vs. Predator 2, will play Flash Gordon's love interest
in the show, which is based on the classic SF comic-strip
franchise. "During auditions and rehearsals, we could tell this one
was the right Dale, because [Johnson] had such good chemistry with
her," said Mark Stern, SCI FI's executive vice president of original
programming. "We had to find the right actress to work with him,
because there's jealousy and a love triangle and friendship involved,
and we did not want to stick him with an actress he couldn't stand."
Others in the cast include Karen Cliché (Baylin), Giles Panton (Joe),
Panou (Nick), Jonathan Walker (Rankol), Jill Teed (Norah), Carmen
Moore (Jolie) and Anna van Hoft (Aura). SCI FI has ordered 22
episodes of FLASH GORDON, which began shooting this week in
Vancouver, Canada, and will debut in August.

THE BOX
The Hollywood Reporter indicates that Barry Sonnenfeld is in
negotiations to direct the supernatural action-adventurer THE BOX for
20th Century Fox. Evan Spiliotopoulos is writing the screenplay,
which serves up a contemporary take on the myth of Pandora's box. BOX
centers on a college graduate with an uncertain future, who is
tricked into opening the mythical box, unwittingly unleashing the
evils trapped within. He then must team with Pandora to save the
world from destruction. BOX returns Sonnenfeld to the genres that put
him on the map, with such movies as THE ADDAMS FAMILY and MEN IN
BLACK.

HEAVEN PROJECT
Linda Cardellini is set to star opposite Paul Walker in HEAVEN
PROJECT, a fantasy- tinged independent drama being directed by John
Glenn, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The story follows an ex-
con who is sentenced to death and wakes up from his lethal injection
in a small Oregon town. Working as a groundskeeper for a mental
hospital, he is told he was given a second chance by God, but
questions whether he ever really died. Cardellini will play the
hospital's administrator and Walker's love interest. Production is
under way in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Cardellini, one of the stars of
NBC's ER, played Velma in the Scooby-Doo films.

JOURNEYMAN
The Hollywood Reporter writes that emmy-winning writer-producer Kevin
Falls, creator of NBC's newly picked-up time-travel series
JOURNEYMAN, has signed a new two-year overall deal with the show's
producer, 20th Century Fox TV. Falls will focus on JOURNEYMAN, on
which he will serve as executive producer and show runner. The trade
paper also reported that NBC had picked up JOURNEYMAN for the fall.
JOURNEYMAN is described as an epic fantasy starring Kevin McKidd
(HBO's Rome) as a man who travels back in time to fix the lives of
people in trouble.

HARRY POTTTER BOOK 7
According to Amazon.com, more than 1 million advance orders for HARRY
POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS, the upcoming seventh and final book
in J.K. Rowling's franchise, which is scheduled for release in late
July. Reuters reported that the online retailer also lowered its
price on the book to $17.99 from $18.89. It said it would honor the
lower price for customers who had already ordered the book, the last
volume in the series about a boy wizard and his struggle against the
forces of evil. More than 620,000 copies have been ordered in advance
in the United States, with more than 250,000 in the United Kingdom,
Amazon.com said. Advance orders for this book have surpassed those in
2005 for Rowling's sixth release, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood
Prince. In April, Barnes & Noble said that advance orders for the
book had topped 500,000 copies, breaking the bookseller chain's
record for the most advance requests in its history. The book, which
is published in the United States by Scholastic Corp and in Britain
by Bloomsbury, officially goes on sale on July 21.

HEROES
Hayden Panettiere, who plays the indestructible cheerleader Claire on
HEROES, said during a recent interview that there has been talk of
her character's getting a boyfriend next season. "It's possibly in
the future," she said. "I haven't heard or seen anything from this
upcoming season, so I can't tell you what exactly is going to happen,
but, yes, there is potential." Panettiere added that it's something
she'd like to see happen on the show—and she said that she has a
feeling the audience agrees. "I think people want to see her being a
normal teenage girl," she said "They want to see her have boyfriends.
They want to see the human side of her, which, you know, is what
normal teenage girls do. They date. They like boys. They kiss boys."
As the end of the hit series' freshman season approaches, Panettiere
said that the stories will focus on the human drama among the
characters and their quest to save the world from the dark future
seen a few episodes ago. "At the moment we're really concentrating on
the human stories that are going on with the show," she
said. "Because it's not just about our powers. It's about mankind.
It's about the world. It's about helping it before it becomes
completely ... changed. Everyone's lives will be shifted and pointed
in a different direction, and, for the most part, as you saw, it's
not for the good. ... I think it's about doing what's right and what
we're kind of meant to do. But, you know, I am indestructible, and
things happen all the time. My gore is definitely not over." HEROES
airs Mondays at 9 p.m. PT/ET.

DAYBREAKERS
The Hollywood Reporter indicates that Ethan Hawke has signed on to
star in Lionsgate's futuristic vampire film DAYBREAKERS, written and
to be directed by Australian horror veterans Peter and Michael
Spierig (Undead). Shooting begins in July in Australia, with Weta
Workshop creating the creature effects. Hawke will play a researcher
in the year 2017, when a plague has transformed most of the world's
population into vampires. As the human population nears extinction,
vampires must capture and farm every remaining human or find a blood
substitute before time runs out. Meanwhile, a covert group of
vampires makes a discovery that has the power to save the human race.
DAYBREAKERS will be produced by Chris Brown of Australia-based
Pictures in Paradise and Sean and Bryan Furst of Furst Films.

SWARM
Variety reports that Dino and Martha De Laurentiis will partner with
a trio of German producers to turn the best-selling Frank Schatzing
SF novel THE SWARM into a big-budget ecological disaster film. Ted
Tally has been set to adapt the novel. The film is a co-production
between the De Laurentiis duo and German producers Michael
Souvignier, Ica Souvignier and Till Gronemeyer. The book tells the
story of an alien presence that exists quietly on the ocean floor and
is compelled to destroy humanity after its ecosystem is disrupted by
pollution. Scientists race to stave off an apocalypse. The book was a
best-seller in Germany and other European countries. The book didn't
fare as well in the United States.

SPIDER-MAN 3
While SPIDER-MAN 3 is breaking records at the box office, it is also
making news on the television scene. FX has nabbed the rights to the
film from Sony Pictures Television in a deal that observers said is
tied to the movie's final domestic boxoffice tally and could reach
$40 million. Reps for FX, which also owns the rights to "Spider-Man
2," and SPT declined comment on the deal Tuesday. The five-year deal
on "Spider-Man 3" is slated to begin in December 2009, following the
film's pay window on Starz. SPT has the option to carve out three
windows during the length of the deal with FX for airings on
broadcast networks. SPT is expected to take the film to the broadcast
nets after it wraps its upfront presentations next week. With
additional broadcast runs and a syndication window that would
follow "Spider-Man 3's" second cycle on pay cable, the sequel's total
TV revenue is expected to be in line with the $60 million- plus
fetched by the previous two "Spider-Man" movies. In 2004, "Spider-Man
2" was sold to Fox Broadcasting Co. and FX in a deal that was valued
at about $50 million, with the possibility for extra broadcast/cable
windows pegged at about $10 million (HR 5/30/04). Fox also has the
rights to the first "Spider-Man" through a 10-year $60 million-plus
deal shared with Turner Broadcasting's TNT and TBS. Going
aggressively after "Spider-Man 3" fits into FX's strategy to acquire
big, broad feature films. For the past several years, the network
brass have opted to add blockbuster movies to its schedule instead of
reruns of popular crime procedural dramas -- a once-hot cable
commodity that has cooled off. FX's recent premiere of "Spider-Man 2"
attracted more than 1 million viewers in the adults 18-49
demographic. "Spider-Man 3," which grossed $151 million in North
America this past weekend and $382 million worldwide, smashed a slew
of records, including biggest opening weekend. Its haul could surpass
the original "Spider-Man," which is the highest-grossing film in the
franchise so far with $403.7 million domestically.

ARMAGEDDAGAIN: THE DAY BEFORE TOMORROW
Screen Gems has picked up the action disaster spoof script
ARMAGEDDAGAIN: THE DAY BEFORE TOMORROW by Robert Moniot (pronounced
Mon-Yo) and Travis Oates. Noah Emmerich, Phil Goldfine and Robert
Moniot will produce. Moniot will also direct. Moniot's narrative
debut, Pearl Harbor II: Pearlmageddon, was shot in two days. Moniot
wrote, directed, and edited the spoof.

THE JETSONS
Robert Rodriguez is in talks with Warner Bros. Pictures to direct the
live-action feature version of futuristic 1960s cartoon THE JETSONS.
Denise Di Novi and Donald De Line would produce. The JETSONS' script
was written by Adam Goldberg. Rodriguez also recently met with actor
Will Ferrel to discuss Universal Pictures' big screen version of LAND
OF THE LOST, which Ferrel is attached to star in.

SPIDER-MAN 3
Variety reported that Sony has revised its opening-weekend box-office
totals for SPIDER-MAN 3 upward. The hit sequel took in $382 million
worldwide and $151 million in North America.

MEDIUM RENEWED
Word came through yesterday from NBC regarding their early renewal of
the fourth season of MEDIUM, its supernatural drama. "MEDIUM is a
quality show with an outstanding star that has always delivered a
very loyal audience," Kevin Reilly, president of NBC Entertainment,
said in a statement. "We are pleased to know that we can look forward
to more of its unique storytelling next year under executive producer
Glenn Gordon Caron's superb creative vision." MEDIUM has averaged a
3.0 rating among adults aged 18-49 and 8.5 million viewers overall
this season. Created by Caron, MEDIUM stars Patricia Arquette as
psychic Allison DuBois. MEDIUM airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

WANTED
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Chicago rapper Common has signed
on to the Morgan Freeman-Angelina Jolie SF movie WANTED for Universal
Pictures, playing an assassin who helps a white-collar worker (James
McAvoy) who discovers he is the son of the most evil supervillain on
Earth.

SHREK THE THIRD
In a recent interview, Antonio Banderas, who voices Puss in Boots in
the upcoming SHREK THE THIRD, said that there are plans to make a
spinoff film featuring his swashbuckling character, though details
remain sketchy. "Donkey doesn't have a movie, but Puss in Boots does,
and they are pushing for a movie someday soon," Banderas said while
out promoting the third installment in the hit franchise. The
Hollywood Reporter said that a Puss in Boots movie might go directly
to DVD, much like sequels that Disney did for Cinderella, Aladdin and
other classics. SHREK THE THIRD producer Aron Warner said he wasn't
sure what the DreamWorks Animation division has in store for Puss.
The story is being developed by Jon Zack (Shrek the Third) and David
H. Steinberg (American Pie 2), but no director has been named yet.
The Puss in Boots film is on the slate for a 2010 release, perhaps
around the same time as a fourth Shrek movie. SHREK THE THIRD opens
on May 18.

BLOOD TIES
Variety reports that Lifetime has renewed BLOOD TIES, its vampire
melodrama, for a second cycle of 10 hourlong episodes, which kick off
in the fall. Christina Cox stars as a private eye who investigates
supernatural crimes, aided by her partner, who's a vampire. Scheduled
Sundays at 10 p.m., the series premiered March 11 and has averaged a
1.1 household rating.

LOST
ABC has agreed to let the producers of LOST set an expiration date
for the series: three years in the future, the network announced May
7. Starting in the 2007-'08 season, LOST will air in uninterrupted
arcs of 16 episodes each, culminating in the show's finale sometime
during the 2009-'10 season. Executive producers Damon Lindelof and
Carlton Cuse had said last summer that they wanted LOST to end after
two more seasons as a way to focus the storytelling. They agreed to
the three shortened seasons as a condition of signing new multiyear
deals with the ABC Television Studio, which produces the series. (The
48 episodes they'll produce over the next three years is the same
number the show produced during its first two seasons.) "In
considering the powerful storytelling of LOST, we felt this was the
only way to give it a proper creative conclusion," Stephen McPherson,
president of ABC Entertainment, said in a statement. "I always said
that we would allow the series to grow and give viewers the most
compelling hour possible. And, due to the unique nature of the
series, we knew it would require an end date to keep the integrity
and strength of the show consistent throughout and to give the
audience the payoff they deserve." It's unclear when the series will
return next season in order to air the new episodes without repeats,
but it will likely be around January. "This is a bold and
unprecedented move for ABC," Lindelof and Cuse said in their own
statement. "The show would not be what it is without the vision and
support we've received from Steve McPherson, Mark Pedowitz and
everyone at ABC and ABC TV Studios. We always envisioned LOST as a
show with a beginning, middle and end. By officially announcing
exactly when that ending will be, the audience will now have the
security of knowing that the story will play out as we've intended."
LOST is expected to kick into high gear at 9 p.m. ET/PT on May 23
with the broadcast of the two-hour third-season finale, "Through the
Looking Glass," which is expected to change the show dramatically.
Here's how ABC describes it: "Jack and the castaways begin their
efforts to make contact with Naomi's rescue ship."
