THE ZOCALO TODAY – April 23, 2005

WHAT'S NEW

JMS YARD SALE – THE LATEST

Update: 4/21/2005 4:11:57 AM
It might be worth mentioning that I think the Medal, and the
painting by Peter, are going to be the last really big items. I
think I'll keep it to more reasonable stuff after that, mainly
scripts, director's cuts, and at the most there's a PPG and a link
that might go...but beyond that, I think I'll pull it back. So
what's out now goes out, but after that...not so much.

Date: 4/20/2005 1:32:47 AM
A follow-up on this subject....
Tomorrow, the Seeing Double auctions start at 1:00 p.m. PST
By "seeing double" I mean that I have two of these, and there's no
reason for me to hold on to both, so I'm putting one of them up in
each of these three auctions.

The first two are doubles of my complete He-Man and She-Ra
production archives, NOT the scripts, but a truckload of other
stuff. Storyboards, art, memos, series bibles, publicity stuff, you
name it.

The third one...is the one that I debated about for a long time, but
I want this whole thing to be kind of special, to put something that
I would want to have as a fan, not just to clear out stuff from the
garage. Something...special.

Because that's almost half the fun...knowing these things are going
to get good homes, appreciated and shown off.
So what's item number three?

Nothing less than one of the two Medals from the Battle of the Line
seen in Sinclair's quarters in the pilot. Both were used on screen,
interchangeably. I'm keeping one, and letting the other one go to a
fan who can appreciate it.

Yep. THAT medal.

The one that changed everything for the Babylon 5 storyline.
jms

** For those who missed the first announcement, JMS is listed under
seller name babylon5auctions. You can search on the name and get a
listing of what is now on-line. Someone just pointed out that the
Londo doll -- yes the one everyone has wanted -- went for $7211.09.

DISCUSSION TOPICS

JMS' yard sale makes me think of all the Babylon 5 momentos I have
squirreled away. Among the pictures and cards and DVDs, is there a
favorite -- something that is special -- the one thing you would
hate to part with? What is that and why is it special to you?

Send in your thoughts and comments to sgbruckner@.... I will
post them on the Discussion Page for everyone to share and enjoy.
There are some good ones so far. Add yours! If you see an old topic
you want to respond to, go right ahead. We enjoy hearing from you.

SCI-FI NEWS:

LAND OF THE LOST:
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Will Ferrell will star in the
comedy feature LAND OF THE LOST, based on the classic television
series of the same name. Universal acquired the feature rights from
Sid and Marty Krofft, executive producers of the original television
series, who will produce the feature for the studio. The
original "Land of the Lost" series revolved around forest ranger
Rick Marshall and his children, Will and Holly, who are caught in a
time vortex while exploring the Colorado River on a raft and
transported to a mysterious world. The feature film will be an
update of the series, which ran from 1973-1977 on NBC and is due out
on DVD this month.

LOCUSTS:
On April 24, you can catch Lucy Lawless (XENA) in a CBS movie
thriller, LOCUSTS. Lawless stars as a Department of Agriculture
official desperately battling a deadly breed of voracious,
bioengineered insects that have escaped from a government lab. In an
interview during the filming in Louisiana, Lawless said, "I play a
young gal who has come into the department of agriculture as the
undersecretary, which may not sound as sexy to you as it is in
reality." Lawless says wryly of her character, Dr. Maddy
Rierdon, "... she discovers that one of the scientists, her mentor,
has run amok with a program and it all gets out of hand. This
dangerous bunch of hybrid locusts escapes from the lab, and the
movie is about us hunting them down, with a conspiracy angle to the
story as well." (Dylan Neal, David Martel from LEGEND OF THE
RANGERS, also stars in LOCUSTS.)

SMALLVILLE:
ABC Family channel is planning a marathon of episodes for Sunday,
May 15 -- in preparation for the season finale of the show on May
18. The theme of the marathon is "Smallville to Superman," and it
features many mythology-based episodes of the show, including two
guest-featuring Christopher Reeve as Dr. Virgil Swann. Following the
Smallville marathon, at 8PM, ABC Family will be showing "Superman:
The Movie" with Reeve as Superman and Margot Kidder as Lois Lane.
Here's the schedule:
2PM: "Rosetta"
3PM: "Calling"
4PM: "Exodus"
5PM: "Exile"
6PM: "Legacy"
7PM: "Covenant"
8PM: "Superman: The Movie"

REVELATIONS:
NBC's new limited series, REVELATIONS, did quite well in its second
outing. REVELATIONS delivered 11.5 million viewers, down 13 percent
from last week's premiere, but still impressive for the network.

ALIAS/DAREDEVIL:
People magazine reported that DAREDEVIL star Ben Affleck asked
ELEKTRA/ALIAS' Jennifer Garner to marry him over the weekend during
a lavish 33rd birthday party for her, sealing the deal with a 4.5-
carat diamond ring from Harry Winston valued at $500,000.

SUPERMAN RETURNS:
USA Today has the first pictures of Brandon Routh as Superman in
Bryan Singer's SUPERMAN RETURNS. Bryan Singer decided to stick with
the traditional look, but has made a few subtle changes. Singer
decided to keep the cape, the blue body suit, the red tights — even
the V-cut opening of Superman's boots. The character's S insignia is
slightly smaller and higher on his chest, and instead of being
painted on, it's more of a three-dimensional plate. The insignia is
added to Superman's belt buckle. Costume designer Louise Mingenbach
preserved the blue, red and yellow motif, but the shades are
slightly darker than the bright primary colors of the comics.
Superman's yellow belt is more golden, and his cape is a deep
scarlet.

CSI
Everyone who watches this series has been curious about the season
finale coming -- especially since "Grave Danger" is being directed
by Quentin Tarantino. Information has been posted at CSI Files about
the final episode for the season -- but don't go there unless you
want to know what is going to happen! Read SPOILER WARNING in large
print.

holds the key to a vast conspiracy. SOUTHLAND TALES also will be
presented as a nine-part interactive experience, with the prequel

facist state, as it were," says Fry. Fry also revealed more casting
that hasn't been announced yet, saying that John Hurt, Tim Pigott-

even as he shows his own ambitions to uncover the Holy Grail. The Da
Vinci Code begins production in June for a May 19, 2006, release.

ENTERPRISE MOVIE:
While Scott Bakula expressed interest in reprising his character of
Capt. Jonathan Archer in an ENTERPRISE film he said during an
interview at the show's wrap party in Hollywood last week, "They
haven't [asked], but the reality is that Paramount has been under
such internal upheaval in the last year that right now there's
really nobody that's there that is a fan of Star Trek." Bakula said
that recent turnover of several key Paramount executives has
dampened enthusiasm for future Trek projects. "It's all turned over,
so I don't know what's going to happen with Star Trek as a
franchise," Bakula said. "Obviously it's been very important to that
studio for a great number of years and brought a lot of revenue for
them. But I'm not sure how they will re-address or kind of re-
approach it as the dust settles. But we'll see."

STAR WARS: EPISODE III:
With the May 19 release date approaching, advance sales of tickets
for STAR WARS: EPISODE THREE: REVENGE OF THE SITH are almost sold

and Jake Gyllenhaal and Robert Downey have signed onto David
Fincher's long-gestating thriller "Zodiac." Phoenix Pictures is

author of the two books, "Zodiac" and "Zodiac Unmasked," upon which
the film is based. Downey will play fellow reporter Paul Avery, and
Ruffalo would play the San Francisco homicide inspector in charge of
the case. The books revolve around the real-life tale of a serial
killer known as the Zodiac Killer, who terrorized San Francisco for
25 years. Graysmith and Avery worked at the San Francisco Chronicle,
which the killer used as a conduit to communicate with authorities.
James Vanderbilt is adapting.

OVER THE HEDGE:

O'Hara, Eugene Levy, Wanda Sykes and Allison Janney will lend their

McCall, a veteran covert operative who, seeking redemption for his
