When in 1983-84 did you get the night-time version of "Wheel of Fortune" in your area? This version of the show, which after 25 years is still going strong, premiered September 19, 1983, initially only on TV stations in and around Philadelphia, PA; with a nationwide expansion occurring by the spring of 1984.
I live in Milwaukie, OR (since April 14, 1984), and in my area, the nightly WOF had initially been picked up by KOIN-TV (CBS 6), but I cannot remember when in 1983-84 that occurred (maybe January, 1984). I do remember, though, KATU (ABC 2) bought the broadcast rights to it from KOIN in 1989, just as KOIN bought out the broadcast rights to the daytime version from KGW (NBC 8) that July 17th. The daytime version would return to KGW on January 14, 1991, where it remained until this version's cancellation on September 20 of that year.
On KOIN, the show aired at 7:00pm until the fall of 1988, and then swapped places with Jeopardy! (this version of the show was syndicated since 9/10/84) and J! now aired at the 7:00pm timeslot WOF had held previously, with WOF now airing at 7:30pm, and these timeslots are still used today (the move from KOIN to KATU did not affect these).
