This Group is dedicated to the North Yorkshire NHS PCT Hospital known as the St. Aidan’s Royal Free Hospital or simply to the locals as THE ROYAL.

The Hospital can be found at No.8 Holbeck Road in the North Yorkshire seaside town of Elsinby near to Scarborough, Whitby, Ashfordly and Aidensfield.

THE ROYAL was founded in 1886 and opened by Prince Albert, the Duke of Clarence. The building was endowed by the local Middleditch family at the turn of the century.

In 1948 the family charity was effectively nationalised and given to the NHS. Mr. Middleditch (along with the then Matron) ran the place as a oneman band until his retirement c.1969.

THE ROYAL in 2008 is currently 122 years old.
