Boy, it is exciting to find The Prisoner clubs!
From reading a few messages I guess I most be one of
the longest standing fans...<br><br>I have been a fan
since the first run of the show on CBS in the late,
late 60s or early, early 70s...<br><br>Will be
visiting to get acquainted...
Hey, I'll check and see if I have any episode guides on the series. I have so
many I don't know which ones I have at this point. I'll let you know.<br>Be
Seeing You
I heard a bit of trivia a long time ago, but
never found out if it was true--hope somebody here can
help! Supposedly, Angelo Muskatt (the butler) appeared
on one episode of Dr. Who (yes, I am a fan of Dr.
Who...but don't hold it against me!) I haven't been able to
find out if this is true, and if so--which episode.
Anyone know (or care!) the answer? Anyone have any other
trivia type questions?
I have been a Prisoner fan since about 1990. My
father had all the episodes on tape, and i joined the
"Prisoner Appreciation Society" around 1996. They send out
mailings quarterly, and many spirited debates come out of
them. I was suprised there were no other yahoo clubs on
the "Prisoner" but am glad to see this one!
Well, I must be the old one here. I remember
watching reruns of it when I was a kid in the '70's. A
local PBS station ran it. I didn't understand it until
I was in high school and even then still didn't get
it all until college.
I started watching the Prisoner when I was in
junior high school (13 years old? heck I can't
remember!) anyway, I am now 25 and still love the show! I
don't re-watch it as often as I should, but I do
whenever I can.
just out of curiousity, how old is everyone here. I'm 17 and I first saw the
Prisoner last year, week by week. I was so excited the day of the last episode.
Anyway...
One other band of interest connected to Number 6
is The Prisoners. They are a british band from the
80's, but their sound is very 60's garage. The
lettering on one album is the same as from the credits from
the show. I'm a huge fan of them, but the are a bit
obscure. The organ player is James Taylor (of the James
Taylor Quartet--lately of Austin Powers soundtrack
fame.)One of their albums is readily available, you can
probably order it at www.towerrecords.com or other online
record stores. Not everyones cup of tea, but I love
them!
Anyone interested in music ( indie rock
preferably) shoul check out last year's album by the UK group
Mansun. It's entitled Six ( after you know who ) and has
other referrences to the Prisoner ( eg. No.6 is on the
cover and there's a song called Fall Out ) . Also a
Doctor Who reads a piece on the album, Tom Baker, I
think.
No. I'm sorry to say that I haven't. When I take
my tour of the British Isles it is a place I plan to
stop at though. I thought I heard that the management
there wasn't going to allow the fan club to meet there
anymore. Something about they couldn't handle the
capacity.<br><br>If anyone has heard otherwise, let me know. I'm
seriously considering joining the fan club. tjaded, what
sorts of goodies do you get from them?<br><br>Be Seeing
you.<br>Drake
Has anyone in the club been to Portmerion? I was
planning on going there for the Prisoner Fan Club thing a
few years back (quite a few years now...)but I never
made it. It looks like a great place to vacation (I
swear, I'm just going on vacation!)<br>Just curious....
Danny--<br>At this time the videos are available
from Columbia house (one of those monthly instalment
things.) The rights for the series recently changed hands,
and the rights for the American release on video, dvd
etc. is owned by a British company--I forget their
name right now, but I'll get it if anyone is
interested. My work is bugging A&E to pick it up and put it
out on DVD, but nothing definite has happened yet.
There is always the fun of trying to track them down on
Ebay (they go for about $20 an episode.) If you have a
laserdisc player, Image has all but one of the discs
available still (I think disc #2 with episodes 3 & 4 is out
of stock...) If you want the lasers, I would act
quickly, as they are out of print and the stock in their
warehouse is all that is left. I think the Sci-Fi channel
might still be showing them, but I don't have cable
anymore-so don't take my word for it! Hope this
helps...<br>Tjaded
Hello! I apologize in advance for what will
probably be a stupid question, but here goes... I've only
seen one episode of The Prisoner (I think that it was
Chimes Of Big Ben), but it was enough to really capture
my attention. <br><br>I've dug around some since
then, and only been able to find one or two episodes
available for sale on tape. Does anyone know if there is a
compilation available with all of the episodes? Or (dare I
dream?) if there's even a chance that they might someday
put out the episodes on DVD?<br><br>Thanks for any
information!<br><br>-Danny
I posted three more pictures--covers of books
from my collection. Unfortunately, I goofed and got
the captions reversed on two of
them...sorry!<br>Anyone have the cover to the other book? I keep trying
to get a copy, but my luck isn't so hot as of
late....
tjaded, great photos! i thank you for the one
from "Free For All." By the way, the picture of the
buttons. Where did get it? Does anyone know where one can
purchase such buttons? I am going to e-mail a couple of
sites to see if I can link them to ours and vice versa.
<br><br>Be Seeing You.
Thank all of you for joining up. I'm very pleased
to see this many members. As to my favorite
episodes: Arrival, The Schizod Man, and Free For All, and
surprise...Checkmate. My favorite Number 2 is Eric Portman, then Leo
McKern, then George Baker.<br><br>tjaded, thanks for
posting the pictures. I really appreciate it. I've not
been able to check the club because my server's been
down for about a week. <br><br>Now the eternal
question. Is Number 6, John Drake of Danger/Secret Agent
Man fame? Hmmmm?<br><br>Be Seeing You.<br><br>Drake
Did anyone hear about the rumours of a Prisoner
movie. I heard that Patrick M. wrote the first script
but is was rejected. It was taken over by the same
guy who wrote Con Air ( ! ) . All I know is that it's
supposed to be a sequel to the series
I don't think I could pick a favorite either, but
Schizoid Man, A,B & C and Fallout are REALLY good...as if
the rest aren't! I loved Leo McKern as Number
2...anyone have a favorite Number 2? Or even better, does
anyone own a Mini Moke?
Picking a fav. Prisoner episode is pretty much
impossible to do. The Arrival ( because 6 punches "Rover" )
and Fallout are probably the most important episodes.
I love the poignancy of Many Happy Returns and The
Schizoid Man is also one of the best. There's too many
good one's to choose. What about everyone else?
Danger Man/Secret Agent are both good shows...but
The Prisoner is miles above (in my book anyway!)
Unfortunately, MPI no longer has the rights to the show on
video, so they are becoming mighty hard to come by. All
good messages should end with a question...What is
your (anyone out there) favorite episode of The
Prisoner?
Well, I don't have a messenger. I guess I'm a bit
paranoid of all this progressing technology or something
but I'll look out for you. I've recently been reading
a lot about the Prisoner on the net and I've
discovered many wonderous things about it.I'll post some of
these. <br>Oh, by the way , is "Danger Man" any good?
Well, I certainly hope that we don't end up like
number two and number six. Thanks so much for joining
the club. I was really getting disheartened by no one
joining. I thought the response would be better. As we get
more members joining The Village, maybe we can have
some lively discussions about the show. If you have
Yahoo Messenger, you can usually contact me after 3:00
pm. <br><br>Be Seeing You.
