I don't think I would like a remake. Much of the charm of the original show came
from the original actors. Without David Cassidy and Shirley Jones, it just
wouldn't be the same.

'Partridge Family' gets a remake
Reveille, Geffen create new version of show

An updated version of 'The Patridge Family' is in the works.

"The Partridge Family" is back.
Reveille and Geffen Records have partnered with original "Partridge" format
rights holder Sony Pictures TV to develop a modern version of the 1970s
series.
Jeff Rake ("Cashmere Mafia") is aboard to pen the project, which is being
pitched around town this week. Insiders said a network deal was imminent.
Rake would exec produce with Reveille execs as well as Interscope-Geffen- A&M
chairman Jimmy Iovine and Geffen Records chairman Ron Fair.
Details surrounding the scripted remake are thin, but insiders said the show
will take a tongue-in-cheek, modern-day approach to the original series.
Idea to revive "Partridge Family" came from discussions between Fair and
Reveille managing director Howard Owens on ways they could develop a family show
centered around the music business.
"We decided to take a shot at acquiring the original rights and resurrecting
the show with a new spin," Fair said.
Given all the changes in the music industry, Fair said the new "Partridge
Family" won’t look much like the original.
"We’re not going to be caught up in nostalgia," Fair said. "The original was
a great touchstone — our goal is to use it and spring forward from it."
The original "Partridge Family" ran on ABC from 1970-74. An animated Saturday
morning version, "The Partridge Family 2200 AD," aired on the net in 1974.
More recently, VH1 turned "The Partridge Family" into a 2004 reality show.
"In Search of the Partridge Family," which featured original cast members
Shirley Jones, David Cassidy and Danny Bonaduce as mentors, was used to cast
pilot
"The New Partridge Family" (which also featured French Stewart as a new
Reuben Kincaid). A series wasn’t ordered, however.

BONADUCE FIGHTS OFF MUGGERS

Former child star DANNY BONADUCE was slashed across the chest and arm with a
knife during a recent failed attempt to mug him.
The one-time Partridge Family star claims the incident happened while he was
working out in a Los Angeles park.
The 49-year-old tells the National Enquirer, "These wild-eyed dudes walked
up to me and my girlfriend and one of them whipped out a carpet knife and
demanded money."
Bonaduce, a martial arts expert, adds, "I'm tough, but I'm not invincible. I
couldn't run because I was exhausted, so I decided to stand my ground. I
said to the guy, 'There are two kinds of guys who carry knives - the kind who
aren't afraid to stab someone and the kind who don't have it in them. I don't
think you have it in you.'"
Bonaduce approached the man, and was attacked, before the thugs fled.
The star - who wasn't seriously hurt - adds, "The guys took off running, and
I let them go because I was too tired to go after them. Besides, I wasn't
about to leave my girlfriend standing there by herself."

Was there more than one bus involved? Why am I asking this?
I was just on Flickr.com and typed Partridge Family bus in the
search engine and I came across a photo of a bus painted like
the PF bus with a 1957 Chevy/GMC front end that was said to
be parked behind a fast food taco place and the bus was used to
store boxes and later towed to a junk yard. I have noticed some
differences on that bus compared to the one I saw on the shows.
If you go to flickr.com and type Partridge Family bus you will
see what I mean.
It is not the same bus.

Thanks

Yesterday I got to see David Cassidy in concert at the Ampitheater in
Hershey Park, Hershey PA. Entrance to the show was free with paid
admission to the park. He performed at two shows. I went to the
first one. There was a long line waiting to get in, but I ended up
with a pretty good seat. I took some pictures, so I hope they turn out
OK. David looked good, trim and energetic. He opened with I Can Feel
Your Heartbeat. THen he sang a classic rock song, Hush. He then sang
the following Partridge Family songs: I'll Meet You Half Way, Echo
Valley 26809, Point Me in the Direction of Albuqurque, I Woke Up in
Love This Morning, C'mon Get Happy, I Think I Love You (which was the
finale song). It was a great show and I really enjoyed it. My only
complaint is that it lasted only 45 minutes.
Craig

That's cool, you got to see him in concert. That would be awesome.
I'm glad you took pictures. Hope you can send them here? That's a
bummer it only lasted 45 minutes.

  Jackie

Does anybody know if season 3 is going to come out on DVD? And if so,
when?

I FINALLY got around to buying the first two seasons. It's kinda nice
to hear the old music. Makes me get happy. :D

Hi Chuck,
   Grreat to hear from you.
I guess people might be shy to write....hehehe...in anycase it always takes
someone to get the ball rolling.
I joined to get people like you to get back to me & talk of the show & their
music.

I have all the music on vinyl & cd & have many of the episodes on vhs.
I think they have an album tittled Lunch Box that i don,t have but im sure all
the songs i probably know.
People are impatiently waiting for Bulletin Board on cd.
I do prefer the Season2,3,4 after Season one more.

I read any Partridge news that i can get past & present.
I have the C,mon Get Happy book & Biographies on David & Danny.
I never got into David,s solo career on as a Partridge did i like him best.
I especially like listening to the music during Fall/Winter as in Canada the
Winter can really be hectic.

You like the classic song that i also like.
I liked many of their songs believe it or not sung thru the television version
better.
Im hoping for a release one day of the lost songs.
Speculation has it that it can happen.
My favrit is ''You Don,t Have To Tell Me''
My favrit from a never released recording is ''God Bless You Girl''
My favrit episode is probably the Mother Of The Year Award & when Snake gets
married in the back yard....lol.
Sound Magazine is in my mind their biggest masterpiece as many also agree.

Grrreat to hear from you, lets keep in touch!
                               Friendship,
                                          Claudio

           Claudio,

Not a whole lot of chatting going on here since I joined several weeks ago,
so it is good to hear someone say how much they appreciate the Partridge
Family. I have most of the CDs, and while I don't listen to them often, I do
enjoy pulling them out occasionally and listening to them, especially the
first three.

Do you have any favorite songs? I have several, "Only A Moment Ago" probably
being my absolute favorite, although there are several I will sing to myself
as some daily circumstance will remind me of it. They were a great singing
group, singing songs written by some of the best writers of their day.

Take care!

Chuck
