So I was in Forbidden Planet today wondering if they had a copy of the
latest DWM as my newsagent has unexpectedly not got hold of it...
..when I spotted a 'genuine 60s Dalek' behind glass and given pride of place
(under the stairs).
I took plenty of detailed photos and shared them with a Dalek expert and he
told me that none of the parts are genuine!
You can see them at http://www.geocities.com/spindle_legs/imag0003.jpg (and
up to 9 if you want to go through them)
"The skirt isn't 60s construction. The shoulders don't even have ball and
sockets for the gun/arms, the neck has 70s style neck rods but its too badly
cut even for the Planet of the Daleks ones. The dome, well anyone's guess
really but the pivot, eye and lights are wrong."
So how can you tell? Well here's a couple of websites that go into great
detail (there's a lot less genuine Dalek props than you'd think. Some parts
were re-used time and time again, often switched around, resprayed and..
well, who knows where each part is now?

are hugely informative. Enjoy!
