Hmmm...this discussion doesn't seem very "active" to me! Oh well...I guess I'll
just post
when I'm in the mood to rattle on about Twin Peaks and hope someone answers
eventually.
I guess there won't ever be a Twin Peaks "reunion special," will there? :)

Hi, everyone.

Just after I joined this group, I happened upon Walter Olkewicz
(Jacques Reneault) at his website. He's a really warm, friendly guy
if you want to say hello. Sent me an autographed photo from the Red
Room and everything.

Hi All

A DVD retailer has told me that he has been informed by Paramount
that
season 2 DVD will be available in Australia on the 23rd June 2005. I
can't seem to find any supporting evidence to this effect, but they
are adamant that this is the case. Does anyone else have any
information in this regard???

Looking forward to seeing you in CHAT!

I just joined and wanted to say a "hello" to all of you out there. I
love Twin Peaks and wish they'd come out with 2nd season on DVD
already. Haven't I waited long enough??? I have it on VHS but the
quality sucks. :*(
I just love Dale Coopers "autobiography". :)

Certainly it's intended for the "real world", even though the characters are
often out of this world (surreal, in fact). I think the reference to the
Kennedys and Marilyn Monroe is meant more to give a classical feel to
Cooper. This is just the sort of case that every boy dreaming of being an
FBI agent imagines solving. Or at least it would have been back in the 60s,
which I think is something else that Lynch tries to put in to the show, that
kind of classic timelessness, to where you can't be 100% sure what era this
is happening in.

Hi everyone,
Sorry for the last message Im new to discussion groups. I ve just bought the
first series dvd collection. Ive lots of questions. Lets start with

What did Dale mean when he refered to solving the death of Marlyn Munro and who
shot president kennedy? is this conspiricy theory stuff ?
What relationship does this have with Laura Palmer. Is the relationship within
or without the context of the series ?
Does anyone think David Lynch is modeling the series around real -life ?

Hi all,
Just finished watching the Season 1 Special Edition box set.
LOVED the interviews and the whole layout of the package.
Anyone know when the Season 2 is due out? I heard rumours in Sept. with a double
box set.
Cheers!

I've recently relocated to Denver from Albuquerque and I still want
to run my usual Twin Peaks night beginning in January. Are there
any local, Denver metro folks on this list who'd be interested in
attending each week?

This time I've got a large projector and a huge, white wall, so we
can view each episode in big-screen glory. *Hooray!*

I'd like to post viewpoints discussed after each screening, both
from the newbies and from the hardcore TP fans, here on this list.
If you'd like to follow along, we'll be on this schedule:

Week 1 - Pilot and Episode 1
Week 2 - Episodes 2, 3, & 4
Week 3 - Episodes 5, 6, & 7
Week 4 - Episodes 8, 9, 10
Week 5 - Episodes 11, 12, 13
Week 6 - Episodes 14, 15, 16
Week 7 - Episodes 17, 18, & 19
Week 8 - Episodes 20, 21, & 22
Week 9 - Episodes 23, 24, & 25
Week 10 - Episodes 26, 27, 28
Week 11 - Episode 29 & Fire Walk with Me

The starting date is TBA. I'll be posting about all this to my
other lists and groups as well, but I always like to let the old-
school fans of the series know about it first.

Very illuminating! Thank you!

I, too, was under the impression Donna was crying because of the
events happening to Maddy. Every resident of TP is so freaky, I
didn't think twice about Donna having some sort of psychic
connection to events happening elsewhere.

Now that I think about it, if that were true, Donna would have
caught on to Leland's behavior/attitude the afternoon she went over
there alone, just before his arrest.

The original script makes more sense. *smile*

Below is a copy of the original script, before the
shooting script. She was crying for Laura and Harold
Smith, because they didn't have a choice to die. Just
a theory, but it looks like what was originally
intended. Hope it helps.

31. INT. ROADHOUSE - NIGHT
A band is playing on stage. DONNA HAYWARD enters. She
looks for and finds where
James is seated, his back to her, reading.

DONNA
You heard about Harold Smith?

JAMES
Yeah.

She sits. James sets the book down. They look at each
other.

JAMES (CONTINUED)
It's not your fault, Donna

DONNA
(hurting)
No?

JAMES
I don't think it's anybody's fault. He was a sick guy.

DONNA
He wasn't bad.

JAMES
You don't think he killed Laura?

DONNA
I don't think so. I think he was ... mixed up. I think
he
was hurt inside in a way I didn't understand.

JAMES
Everybody's hurt inside. That doesn't mean you can go
around trying to knock somebody's brains out.

DONNA
I think he was defending himself. His life was in that
room, his whole life, and we violated that -

JAMES
Donna, are you defending him?

DONNA
No. But he didn't kill Laura. Maybe he was sick and
what he did was wrong. But he didn't deserve to die
for
it.

JAMES
You better be clear about this; that was his choice.
If he
didn't want to live there was nothing you or the
police or
anybody could do to change that.

DONNA
(a sad realization)
Kind of like Laura.

JAMES
I guess so.

DONNA
(rueful)
God ... nobody told us life was going to be like this.
James takes her hand.

JAMES
Maybe nobody knew.
They look at each other other, draw some comfort from
the thought.

JAMES (CONTINUED)
Go for a ride?
She nods. Tears in her eyes. They exit. We pick up and
stay with Cooper and Truman as they
enter through another door, move to the bar and order
beers. The singer on stage begins a
new song.

Hi

Recently dusted off my VHS tapes of the show and have watched the
first 15 episodes so far (not in one sitting, though....)

I was struck by the scenes from the Road House in ep. 14. Just
wondered if anyone had any theories about why Donna burst into
tears at the Road House, when she and James were talking. They
seemed to have been getting along OK prior to this.

Was it because she subconsciously realized that something bad was
happening to Maddy (she was being murdered by Bob/Leland)? Was
the delayed stress of Laura's death, combined with Harold Smith's
suicide, finally getting to her?

Be interesting to see what Lara Flynn Boyle has/had to say about it.
Thanks!!

I love that show. Very David Lynchish. Can't wait for the new season.

Has anyone else been watching "Carnivale" on HBO? It stars Micheal
J. Anderson ("The Man from Another Place" to us TP fans, the midget
in the red room to the rest of the world). That caught my attention
at first but, after just 3 episodes, I'm now hooked on it for other
reasons.

The series is set in the US of the 1930's - during the Great
Depression and the dustbowl days - and follows the people in a
traveling freak/geek/carnival show. Each episode has a dark and
foreboding feel to it, even when shot in broad daylight, and so far
I've viewed scenes on psychic healing, reading other people's minds,
hallucinatory visions, and telekinesis. One ep started in a town
full of miners, who all attended the carnival at night, then it was
discovered that none of the miners existed and the town had been
deserted long before the carnival arrived.

I'm not even going to go into the other storyline about the preacher
who may or may not be possessed.

In short, the series is very "Lynchian" with a fair amount of Chris
Carter ("X-files" & "Millennium") added to keep it from being *too*
bleak. Check it out if you haven't already.

I wish I had $175 burning a hole in my pocket:

You can link via http://tinyurl.com/5f79z if the one above is too
long or if it doesn't work right.

Last item I read on the release of the next set of DVD's is located
at www.dugpa.com (look for the entry dated October 9th). Is there
further news than this anywhere else? Has anyone on this list heard
something new?
