It could still work, I just reviewed the first chapter of Episode 3
and all it says is that in several early missions she worked with
Aankin and Obi-wan. The rest of the time she worked with Yoda and
Mace. Then she was shot down two years before Episode 3. As to why
she wasn't seen or mentioned in Episode 3, maybe she had been Knighted
and was on a mission, and things progressed to rapidly for a real
heart to heart that didn't affect Sidious. As for afterwards, she was
forced to go into hiding after Order 66 and didn't know about the safe
haven/ couldn't get to it. The reason she isn't mentioned afterwards
is because it's believed that she's dead. It just takes some creative
reinterpretation of what happened.
