Yeah, you read correctly. Warner Brothers, citing a 'changed landscape
due to the writers strike' and saying 'there will at least be a smaller
wait between Half Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows' has pushed the
release date of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Price back 11 MONTHS
from November 21 2008 to JULY 17, 2009. As this was the last movie of
the year that Iw as really looking forward to, and as they had already
released a teaser trailer giving the release date, I find this
appaling, absurd, and quite frankly bad business. I know that Harry
Potter fans will still flock to see the movie (as I will), and I know
that pushing it back to next July puts it in the middle of the Summer
movie season (another reason they listed), but stuff like this will end
up driving movie goers away from theater releases, esepcialy with the
short turn around time on DVDs and the ability to download the movies
while they are still in the theaters (which I don't in any way condone).
So I urge all of you- let your voices be heard. I pulled the following
contact info from the responses from the Mugglenet article:
Everyone, please contact these individuals to complain. Make your

E-mail these peopel and (respectfuly) let them know how terrible this
decision really is.
