Hi

Just taken a look - the majority of members have been bouncing for years - 2002
in some cases.

But more puzzeling is that some have managed to join after their email address
is bouncing. And these are ones with addresses @yahoo - puzzling.

Hi

What you won't realise that the outgoing moderator sent reactivation requests to
all bouncing members four times during the last month - which resulted in the
resurrection of only a few members.

The trouble seems to be that many yahoo members set up additional email
addresses - which they then never look at - resulting in the mailboxes filling
or the accounts lapsing and hence either soft or hard bouncing.

I think that it is fair that if group members allow themselves to get into this
position that their membership is terminated. They can always rejoin!

Hello Karl-Heinz,

If you go into Edit Membership it will show you whether messages have been
bouncing (it will appear in red lettering under your e-mail info).
Follow the normal proceedure for clearing and all will be well !!

For a long time there was not much activity here. So a lot people will wait for the mails to signal that activy have started again.

Hi Ray,

I am not in the habit of volunteering for things in the normal course of events,
however, although I am a busy medical worker and have precious little time to
spare, I do think it would be worth taking a little time and trouble to keep
your excellent group going.
If you think thay I am OK for the position of Moderator then I will give it a
try. But, if anyone with suitable experience has come forward or does come
forward then I will happily stand aside.
Regards
Judy Evans.

Hi Ray,

Unsure about the new set, as you say it's VERY blue. Quite like Rachel Riley,
she seems to be very able and growing in confidence. She certainly looks
good.....!! It is wonderful to see Susie back on our screens, missed her during
the Christmas break.
I think the new man is utterly awful, smarmy and seriously unattractive. He will
kill the show if anyone does.
I do miss Carol though.

Best regards

Judy

I think it is early days and I will give the new presenter in time as he is more use to presenting football programmes than quiz shows. The new numbers girl is a definite improvement from Carol. Only problem with those skirts how do we concentrate on the numbers.

Hi

It having been a while since anyone posted to this group, and Countdown
has returned to our screens, I thought I might try something.

What do we think of the new set - its rather blue. The new main
presenter is even more irratating than Des O'conner. The new letters
and numbers girl - Rachael Riley - seems OK and treated us to some leg
on the first two days.

What does everyone think?

Whilst I totally agree with the sentiment that Susie could (and in my
opinion should) take over as host, I fear for the future of the
programme. Not everyone likes Carol Vorderman but she does have a
huge "following" and I think her departure will be the critical problem
that Cannel Four must solve.

Hello Susie,

We have so many words of which we would like to know the origin.  Can we start with a few?

Why "hapless"?  Why are cricketers out for a duck and why are six balls an over?  And. as a metaforos is a delivery man in Greece, where does the word metaphor come from?

We love Countdown - it keeps the brain ticking over nicely!

Best wishes to you - and the team.
