Hi Bill and All,
The best list of conventions, past and future is located at:
http://www.space1999.net/catacombs/main/w2conlist.html
There seems to be something tentatively scheduled in England at the end of
September called "HD21". However, I suspect that this event - if it comes
to fruition, will not be solely a Space: 1999 event, but rather a Gerry
Anderson event, with more emphasis on the puppet and/or animated shows.
This year, in 2007, there is only one loosely 'organized' (and I use that
word loosely!) event here in the U.S. - a group of fans plan to get
together at the world-famous Dragon*Con in Atlanta over Labor Day weekend.
Their website is at:
www.DragonCon.org
This is a huge, multi-media science fiction and fantasy convention that
usually brings in 20,000 attendees or so spread over three hotels. Guests
will include: Jamie Bamber, Claudia Christian, Jonathan Frakes, Richard
Hatch, Anne McCaffrey, Robert Picardo, Katee Sackhoff, Brent Spiner, and
many other to be announced. There will be a couple of 1999-related panels
and we will get together a couple of the evenings as a group to chat, eat
& drink, watch episodes, and the like.
Otherwise, the next gathering will be in Calgary in July 2008.
I think there are a handful of fans from the Northwest on this list - I'm
one of them, and live in Portland. Others live in Corvallis, Seattle,
Vancouver, BC, and other cities. In the past (1997 and 2003), Portland
has been the site of Space: 1999 conventions.
Thanks,
Anthony
