Earthbound: 2005 Charities Announced   Message List

Hello All-

In honor of two actors from Space: 1999, the Earthbound: 2005 Committee is
pleased to announced that it has selected two worthy charitable
organizations which will benefit from the 30th Anniversary Celebration.
All proceeds from the convention will be split 50/50 between the two
groups.

As many of you probably know, Actress Zienia Merton has been diagnosed and
lives daily with diabetes. In her honor, we are supporting The Diabetes
Research Institute. Sydney Sturgess, married for more than 60 years to
actor Barry Morse, had Parkinson's disease for 15 years until her untimely
death in 1999. In honor of Barry and Sydney, we are also pleased to
support The National Parkinson Foundation.

The Diabetes Research Institute (DRI) is an academic center of excellence
located at the University of Miami School of Medicine. DRI is an
international center dedicated exclusively to the cure and treatment of
diabetes. It is the result of parents of children with diabetes who banded
together more than twenty-five years ago to focus scientific attention on
this disease. DRI today stands as a world leader in innovative
cure-related research. The DRI's commitment to improving the lives of
children has resulted in landmark advances in several areas of diabetes
research and patient care, including gestational diabetes, transplant
immunology, and islet cell isolation and transplantation. The Diabetes
Research Institute Foundation is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization
and a Community Health Charities Member.

The National Parkinson Foundation (NPF) was founded in 1957 and is now a
world class institution. The NPF supports researchers; physicians;
occupational, physical and speech therapists and psychological counseling.
It also provides educational and medical information for the Parkinson
patients, their families, neurologists and general medical practitioners.
The NPF houses physical, occupational, speech, and neuropsychological
therapies and office facilities, as well as physicians in all neurological
and neurosurgical disciplines. These physicians not only treat Parkinson's
disease but all types of neurological disorders. It is our goal, through
dedicated research, to find the cause and cure of this disease and other
neurological disorders in our lifetime. NPF is a 501c3 tax exempt
nonprofit organization.

Thanks,
Anthony Wynn

someone dead for 1,000 years. To read is to voyage through time.
