Nope, off list usually means you have something to hide, besides I've put
you on ignore. I have no room for hate in my life. This isn't the place for
hate either and you have it in bundles. I deleted your private e-mail

I think their scenes were more tastefully done than any they have had on the
show so far.

Certainly more tasteful than the first one in Episode 1.

I think so! :-)

7 episodes of the 13 have aired in the UK and I've seen 6 of them so far and I'd
say it's the best new series I've seen this year. Sadly it looks as if the
future of the show is uncertain.

I liked Doctor Who but it isn't on tv right now. SGU
is really the only show I pay Time Warner Cable to
watch right now. Sometimes I'll watch the Simpsons.
I'm looking forward to Caprica being a big BSG fan.
Smallville was good but it isn't available from my
local cable tv station anymore. I'm thinking of
switching to Direct TV when my Time Warner Digital
contract expires. I've caught a few episodes of
Amanda Tapping's new series but I've never been a
big gothic horror movie fan and it's a bit strange
thinking of her as a rich brunette with a British
accent after ten years of seeing her play Samantha
Carter. It would probably be cool if they did a
Stargate-Sanctuary parallel universe crossover.
Like with the Doctor Who-Star Trek-Smallville tv
shows, a big part of Stargate's attraction is its
long continuity keeping us in touch with our own
past which shorter run shows can't really do.

"The worst day since yesterday," sounded sort of like Neil
Young to me. I'm guessing that was the title since I never
heard it before, but it was nicely integrated into the
aerobics and exterior montages at the begining and end of
the show, doing a pretty good job of framing the episode
as being about how messed up everything was but a little
less messed up than it was since they weren't in any
immediate danger of everybody dying of suffacation, thirst,
hostile alien predators, alien diseases, crashing into the
sun, or stupid plans that might blow up the ship. Any day
where you're not likely to be dead is usually better than
days you expect you're going to die. :)

The advantage to seeing the darker side of things is
that it makes your brain pay closer attention to all
the details and think clearer in problem solving when
there are negative consequences to making bad choices.
The disadvantage is that it puts your system under a
lot more stress like keeping an engine constantly
running at top speed until it burns itself out. When
you start getting depressed, that's natures way of
telling you your brain is overheating thinking too
much and needs a cool down or you're going to wreck it.
You can't do much problem solving with a fried brain.

I'll watch SGU no matter what since its the only show
on tv I have any interest in right now since Smallville
isn't available from my local cable station, Doctor Who
is off the air right now, and Caprica doesn't come on
until January. I suppose I could watch the Simpsons on
FOX but I don't want to watch commercials for the other
cartoon shows on it by that creepy rich sicko misogenist
who came up with Family Guy. Since I can't end my
Time Warner digital contract for a year, I need to
watch something on tv or I'll be wasting my retirement
pay having cable tv. SGU is going to get better. It's
just trying to experiment outside the normal Stargate
fan base interests looking for new fans, especially
the now homeless BSG fans since Ed Olmos got invited
to speak at the UN and all, but they haven't quite
figured out how to do that without alienating SG1 and
SGA fans who didn't like Ron Moore whom I considered
brilliant even when I hated his plotlines because he
was always doing wild plot twists I totally didn't
see coming and risked being offensive to people in
order to consider alternatives to convential thinking
and help us look at things from multiple perspectives
-the basic Jack-Daniel don't need to think alike to
work for the common good thing Stargate started with.
Seeing all parts of the elephant is good writing all
good writers since Shakespeare have tried to do.

Wow, i have heard people say that. But i don't get the soap opera thing. It
seems much too dark for that to me.

I'm pretty much making the same choice - the only reason I am still watching at
all is because I'm a die-hard SG1 fan, and for some oddball reason, I keep
thinking that maybe it will improve.

It's just a soap opera, and a bad one at that. Days of our Lives has more
plausible people and story lines.

Ultimately, the REAL problem with SGU isn't even that it's incredibly offensive
and staffed by really terrible characters whom I cannot care about, it's that it
is so boring.

A TV show has to be entertaining for me to spend time on it. This is not. It's
hard to watch, literally, with the very dark -- too dark -- sets and the shaky
cam. The people are agonizingly awful, and there is simply so little story that
I cannot stay engaged.

I was hoping that when Mallozzi said that the four or so episodes that started
with last week's would be great that they'd at least be watchable. Well, last
week's was better in terms of story, and even the inpersonal bits made more
sense than anything else we've seen, but I cannot stand horror. This week's was
more of the worst of SGU; I utterly hate the use of the communication stones. I
am so tired of hearing how "real" this show is; but I simply cannot believe that
"real" people would actually allow other people to use their bodies for sex and
to get drunk and all of that or that the loved ones back home would even begin
to entertain the idea of having sex with their loved ones in the bodies of other
people.

We cannot really divorce ourselves from our bodies, and now even the dialogue of
the characters note that the bodies carry residual memories. Oh, what a surprise
that is! Hello! Memories are carried in the brain, and the brain is part of our
bodies! Now when the quad person has sex with Rush using Camile's body, Camile
can remember it.

Then we have that idiot Mathew Scott. What a jerk! There was no rational reason
why he'd go see his ex-girlfriend whom he hadn't seen in years, and now he knows
he has a son and is pissed because she didn't tell him. The guy is a totally
selfish, controlling pig. He's pissed at her? He wanted her to have an abortion!
He never checked on her all those years? And HE claims the right to be pissed?
Not only that, but he judges her life? She was maybe 17 when she had that kid,
and she did it on her own. He's a jerk.

I really despise that young man.

What an awful excuse for SF this show is. Now all I have to do is stop watching,
which would be easier to do if it weren't labeled "Stargate." I don't know why I
keep thinking/hoping that it's going to get better.

Mary

I am having these feelings as well, though I'm mnot willing to totally quit
just yet. I'm going to give it this first season, and hope that the season
finale will be so interesting that I'll just have to see what happens next.
Bhut, since I'm still not attached to even one of these characters, not one,
and find some things about the show cheap and repugnant, it's up in the air
whether I watch after S1.

I'm feeling the same way that you are. I haven't quit watching yet, but
each week I really don't like what I'm watching. I kept hoping that it would
improve, but I don't think it's going to change at all.

It's too much like Stargate 90210, All My Stargates, Days of our Stargates,
Melrose Stargate, Desperate Stargates, etc. A dark and depressing and very
boring soap opera. Not anything at all like the Stargate I've come to know
and love. I can't connect or relate to any of these characters. I've
really, really tried to like it, but I just can't.

I was hoping someone would mention the music. I really liked what I heard
last night and that song 'worse than yesterday' seemed to fit the episode
very well. I would like to know the name of it and who sings it. It
sounded Irish to me. I only listen to country so would not know any of the
current crop of rockers/contemporary bunch.

On the plus side, the music on the show has definitely

I think that's the purpose of Michael's episode. The little I've read
says it deals more with how Rush got into the program and such. Ugh --
the thought that Daniel may have brought the man into the program makes
me cringe.  Then again, this is probably still the AU Daniel anyway. ;}

Still going to give it a few more episodes before I decide.

Someone asked this week about wanting some image from SGU. I couldn't
find the link at the time, but I was going to suggest the following
website. If they don't have what you want, you could probably contact
them and they could get it. This is the link to the most recent episode.

Yeah . . . sniff. I was shocked (but happy) when they got picked up for a
second season.

It's funny how similar 'my body is not my body' concepts work for me in
Dollhouse, but annoys me in SGU's interpretation. SGU just seems that the
swapping is just to ramp up the sexual possibilities, tension and angst,
while Dollhouse has more of a story within a story with an over-riding arc.
And I like all the DH characters - always helpful, don't you think?
Whedon's casting is usually dead on, and I'm always happy to watch Tahmoh
Penikett.
