nal
next week, things have been a bit too busy for me of late. I will be at ComicC
on
checking out the various things going on and also at the Arizona SF Cons table
(table number TBD). Watchfarscape.com will also be there at booth 3548.

SFTV News and Info

Ratings Report - SG-1 & 4400 Take Off

SciFi got some good news from the season opening two hour episode "New Order"
for Stargate SG-1. It set records for viewership of a regular series
episode and season opener with a 2.4 household rating and 3.22 million viewers.
Acording to SciFi it was the highest rated episode ever of a regular series
and also the highest rated episode ever of SG-1 in its entire eight season
cable run (episodes in syndication have scored higher, though).
SciFi is hoping the viewers come back this week for the debut of Stargate
Atlantis with it's two hour debut "Rising".

Over on USA Network, The 4400 set records for basic cable, not just for the
USA Network, with its two hour debut. Drawing 7.4 million viewers made it
the highest rated series debut ever for basic cable, beating The Dead Zone's
6.4 million. Although it could also be considered a mini-series. According
to a Variety article, USA/SciFi chief Bonnie Hammer tried to get it to air
on SciFi first, but it ended up on USA "ue to financial and time restraints".
Don't be surprised to see a repeat run on SciFi later this year, though.
USA will air all six hours of the series on Sunday, August 8th, including
the first airing of the final episode of the run. If the ratings hold up,
USA is very likely to order more.

July Debuts and Returns

Already turned up is the new season of Missing (formerly 1-800-Missing) on
Lifetime. It's debut episode drew 3.3 million viewers.

Of course, Stargate Atlantis debuts on SciFi on Friday, July 16th. It is prece
ded
by a repeat of SG-1's season opener.

When Dead Like Me returns on Showtime July 25, the initial airing of the episod
es
will be on Sunday nights at 10 pm ET/PT, with the repeat airing Friday nights a
t
10 pm ET/PT.

Justice League Unlimited debuts and Teen Titans Returns on Saturday, July 31st
on
Cartoon Network. If you missed the Justice League Season Two finale, Starcross
ed,
it is released on DVD this week and will also repeat on Saturday, July 24th.

SciFi Sets Farscape Miniseries Date

Sunday October 17th is the date for the debut of the Farscape Peacekeeper War
miniseries on the SciFi Channel. SciFi's web site bills it as a "Four Hour Eve
nt"
so it is possible that all four hours will air on Sunday night and not be sprea
d
over two nights. That is likely not set in stone since the debut of the
Battlestar Galactica miniseries moved from Sunday to Monday fairly late in
the game (remember all those keychains with the wrong date?).

Scare Tactics Gets New Host

The eight episodes of Scare Tactics season season that have aired so far look
to be all of the second season. SciFi has announced that Shannen Doherty has
left the show and a "third season" of 14 episodes will be hosted by Stephen
Baldwin. No new episodes are scheduled the rest of the summer, with repeats
from the first season scheduled in August.

ComicCon SF TV Panel Highlights

ComicCon International is having a ton of SciFi TV panels as well as a good
number of genre authors and all the other stuff you'd expect. Full details
