UPN Short Circuits Jake 2.0

After having given the show a full season order, UPN rescinded that order and
has canceled Special Unit 2... Ooops. Make that Jake 2.0 (yes, a bit of Deja
Vu there). It is not yet known if the previously scheduled episodes during
February will air then or get burned off later. There are reportedly four
episodes of Jake 2.0 produced that have not yet aired.

SciFi Channel News Roundup

SciFi Thursday debuts March 4th

Starting March 4th, SciFi will start their new edgy block of programming
on Thursday nights starting at 9 pm ET/PT. Starting off the night will be
Mad Mad House, where a group of Alts (A Vampire, a Naturist, a Voodoo
Priestess, a Wiccan, and a Modern Primitive) host a group of ten normals
and put them through tests to see who will be left at the end of ten weeks
and win the $100,000 prize. Moving to Thursday at 10 pm ET/PT will be
Scare Tactics for it's second season. Following it at 10:30 pm ET/PT will
be the CGI animated series Tripping the Rift. Visit SciFi.com for more

Earthsea Miniseries Planned for December airing - SCI FI Channel
announced that production has started on Ursula K. Le Guin's Earthsea.
Produced by Hallmark Entertainment in association with Bender-Brown
Productions, this four-hour miniseries epic will begin principle photography
this spring in New Zealand. Adapted from award-winning novelist Ursula
K. Le Guin's "Earthsea" book series, Earthsea is written by Gavin Scott
(The Mists of Avalon) with Robert Halmi, Sr. (Dreamkeeper, Merlin),
Lawrence Bender (Kill Bill, Pulp Fiction) and Kevin Brown (Roswell)
executive producing. Earthsea is slated to debut on SCI FI in December 2004.
Earthsea follows the tale of a reckless youth destined to become the
greatest sorcerer that the mystical land of Earthsea has ever known.
When the young wizard Ged discovers that he possesses infinite magical
powers, he seeks to master the ancient arts. As he journeys to manhood,
he will combat dragons, fall in love, cross death's threshold, and
ultimately wield the power to reunite a kingdom. Earthsea is an adaptation
of the first two of Le Guin's famed Earthsea trilogy novels:
A Wizard of Earthsea and The Tombs of Atuan.

Andromeda to SciFi for Fifth Season - SciFi and Tribune Entertainment have
entered into an agreement that will bring Andromeda to SciFi for its
"Fifth and Final Season" this fall. According to the press release,
Andromeda will become a SciFi Original production starting with the fifth
season with episodes airing first on SciFi and then airing in syndication
a week to ten days later. Beginning in March, SciFi will also have rights
to the first four seasons of Andromeda and will begin "sharing episodes
with syndication." It is unknown if this means they will end up airing first
on SciFi or in syndication. SciFi also got the rights to all three seasons
of Beastmaster and will start airing those sometime this year.

Galactica Series - Awaiting Word
SciFi has not yet announced their plans for continuing Battlestar Galactica.
Reports are that they are working towards it and did extend their options
with the actors to the end of January. Producer Ron Moore has indicated he
is working on putting everything together to get the show going when SciFi
gives the go-ahead. Look for an announcement soon.


SURRENDER TO DESTINY AS NEW SERIES "WONDERFALLS" PREMIERES FRIDAY,
MARCH 12 ON FOX

WONDERFALLS, FOX's uplifting new one-hour dramedy about a Niagara
Falls tourist-shop clerk whose life is dramatically altered when
inanimate figures begin talking to her, premieres Friday, March 12
(9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

Jaye Tyler, played by French Canadian actress Caroline Dhavernas ("The
Tulse Luper Suitcase"), is the underachieving 20-something heroine who
questions her sanity when objects including toys, cartoons and
anything in the form of an animal begin to talk to her. Each week,
the creatures give Jaye cryptic messages, setting into motion a chain
of unpredictable events that invariably lead Jaye into the lives of
others in need.

Created by Bryan Fuller ("Dead Like Me") and Todd Holland (MALCOLM IN
THE MIDDLE), and executive-produced by Fuller, Holland and Tim Minear
("Angel"), WONDERFALLS focuses on Jaye as she meddles in, muddles up
and ultimately betters the lives of herself and the eclectic variety
of strangers who cross her path.

Throughout the bizarre situations and madcap adventures, Jaye soon
discovers that the inanimate objects tend to become especially vocal
when she interacts with her family members, who include her
high-maintenance mother, Karen (Diana Scarwid), her outspoken father,
Darrin (William Sadler), her seemingly straight-laced sister, Sharon
(Katie Finneran), and her sarcastic brother, Aaron (Lee Pace).

Mr. Monk Goes to the Museum

USA's original series Monk gives cable television one of its most
compelling characters: Adrian Monk, a phobia-ridden but brilliant
detective who always solves his cases. Blending the best of humor and
mystery, Monk's second-season premiere was the highest-rated for an
original scripted series on basic cable. Its second season also added
a title song by Randy Newman, and Tony Shalhoub earned an Emmy Award
for best actor in a comedy series. Cast and creators will discuss the
development of the show from a fledgling cable series to its run on
ABC through its successful second season.

A Conversation with Dan Curtis

career as the creative force behind such programs as the gothic
daytime soap Dark Shadows, the classic 1971 television film The Night

Remembrance.

Gallifrey One has Eighth Doctor and Avon

The Gallifrey One convention, Feb 13-16, 2004 in Van Nuys, CA, has announced
that they will have Paul McGann (The Doctor in the FOX TV Movie) and Paul
Darrow (Avon in Blake's 7) appearing in addition to previously announced
main guests Sylvester McCoy (Doctor #7) and Janet Fielding (Tegan). It looks
to be their biggest convention ever. I will be there and will be speaking on

SFTV Schedule Notes

Jeremiah in Canada - The Movie Network in Canada has been airing the remaining
Season Two episodes of Jeremiah on Monday nights. No definitive word yet on
when Showtime will air them.

Stripperella Returns Feb 12th - Spike TV Brings back Stripperella for a run of
new episodes, kicking it off with a three hour marathon starting at 9 pm ET/PT
with the new episode airing at 11:30 pm ET/PT.

Roar Unaired - SciFi has scheduled a block of Roar episodes for daytime on
February 27th starting at 11 am ET/PT. At the end of the five hour block,
starting at 2:00 pm ET/PT, will be the two episodes that they never did air
and have not yet aired in the U.S. (The Cage and Sweet Brigit).

The SFTV Schedule, SFTV News and SFTV Talk Mailing Lists Info

All three SFTV mailing lists are now at yahoogroups (who have

The SFTV Schedules list consists of the roughly bi-weekly
SFTV Schedules mailing. It is a moderated newsletter type
list. SFTV News is a news and info oriented mailing list
that can be posted to by any subscriber. Traffic is a
nywhere from five messages a day to zero, so it is not a
heavy traffic list. SFTV Talk is a discussion list, so
message traffic varies.
