SFTV News and Info

The New Season is Underway

The new fall season is underway and I've tracked down all the advance info
that I could find out there for the new fall shows. Thanks to epguides.com,
tvtome.com and ambitweb.com, I've got a good amount of advance info for
most of the new seasons. However, TVGuide.com has revamped their web site
so that there is only one week's advance schedule info and other sites
such as zap2it.com never seem to have as detailed info as TV Guide usually
has. This means some info is incomplete and, as always, schedules are
subject to change. So set your VCRs and PVRs!

Showtime Renews Dead Like Me

Showtime has announced that they have renewed Dead Like Me for a second season
of fifteen episodes. Production is expected to resume early next year for
airing next summer.

Vivendi Universal and NBC Pairing Up Coporately and for Transylvania

The long process of determing who will end up with the Vivendi Universal
entertainment assests (including SciFi and USA Network) may be finally over.
NBC has entered into an exclusive negotiation agreeming with Vivendi and
unless something happens to derail it, NBC will likely take them on in a
partnership with Vivendi.

As an early indication of this, NBC and Universal TV are already working
on a series "inspired by" next summer's Van Helsing movie that will be
called Transylvania. It will not feature any of the characters from
the movie, but will be set in the same universe (and making use of the
sets built for the movie in Prague. Universal TV's David Kissinger told
Variety that "t will revolve around two warring families, both of whom
have monstrous genes. Trying to navigate between these two families is
a sheriff who has the unenviable task of trying to maintain peace."
If it is picked up by NBC, it would likely debut next fall.

Lucy Lawless Joins Tarzan

Lucy Lawless is joining the cast of The WB's Tarzan as Kathleen Clayton,
Tarzan's Aunt and a New York publisher that clashes with Richard Clayton
(Mitch Pileggi) over their nephew. Indications are that the series will
focus more on the things going on around Tarzan and less on Jane, thus
the dropping of "and Jane" from the series' name. As part of the deal,
Lawless will be in an exclusive series development deal with WB for
next season.

Anonymous Rex Pilot a Go!

Writer/producer Eric Garcia has announced on his official website,
www.ericgarcia.com, that he has finally been given the go-ahead for
a pilot movie for Anonymous Rex for SciFi. This has been in development
for several years while the effects techniques for showing dinosaurs
disguised as humans. The pilot is actually based on the prequel novel,
Casual Rex. It will feature Vincent Rubio and his partner, Ernie, who
are dinosaur detectives disguised as humans, as they investigate a
"back-to-nature' dinosaur cult.

The Flash, WB Style

The WB has ordered apilot from Warner Bros. TV based on The Flash. It is
being written and executive produced by Todd Komarnicki. As with
Smallville, it will not be a costume show and the main character will
be fresh out of college and discover he can move very fast. So fast
that he can travel backwards and forwards in time.

Andromeda Season Four Letterboxed

Tribune Entertainment announced that they will be broadcasting Season Four
of Andromeda in Letterboxed format.

SciFi Schedule Updates

Stargate SG-1 will start being stripped daily at 6 pm ET/PT on Sept 28th,
starting with the beginning of Season Four. There is also an extra
episode scheduled at 7 pm Fridays that will start from the beginning
of Season Seven, giving viewers another chance to catch them.

TimeCop and Tracker will no longer be airing and Taken will start airing
Sunday, Sept 28th, at 9 pm and 11 pm ET/PT with a repeat of the following
week at 7 pm ET/PT. Or you could pick up the DVD release coming soon.

SFTV Schedule Notes

Stargate SG-1 in Syndication - The start of season six in syndication is
this coming week, not two weeks ago as early schedule info indicated. Due
to lack of time I was not able to verify which episodes aired in early
September and, as usual, the official syndicated website at
www.stargate-sg1.com is not giving out any schedule info. They've got info
on a good number of season six episodes, but never updated their site for
the last two season five episodes.

The SFTV Schedules list consists of the roughly bi-weekly
SFTV Schedules mailing. It is a moderated newsletter type
list. SFTV News is a news and info oriented mailing list
that can be posted to by any subscriber. Traffic is a
nywhere from five messages a day to zero, so it is not a
heavy traffic list. SFTV Talk is a discussion list, so
message traffic varies.
