Wow Steve she is one strong lady. We will continue to hold her in our prayers and you too. You also have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

It seems that I was getting a slightly watered down version of what really happened to Barbi. I suspect it was to spare me somehow, which I can understand to a point. Anyway...
I finally spoke to Barbi's mother on Monday. She informed me that what I had been told was incorrect. In reality, Barbi suffered FIVE strokes, not one, and her heart attack was massive instead of mild. When they did surgery on her brain, they removed a HUGE blood clot.
I know that God is loving and compassionate, and answers prayer...and the proof is my little wife.
The doctors and the nurses told her mother that they had never before seen someone like Barbi survive all of those awful things...and not only has she survived...she is talking...not much, but she is talking...and she took 3 steps alone on Sunday! This is flabbergasting everyone. She does have a bit of memory loss, but eventually, she'll get that back. I am going to call tomorrow and
see how she is doing, and I sure hope that she continues like she is. All I can say is, I am amazed! Yes, she has a long way to go yet, but I am thrilled at her progress, and as her mom says, she is a living miracle! I am very, very thankful for that!
Thanks, y'all, for your prayers, they certainly helped, and I ask for continued prayer for her. And I will continue to update you all on her progress.
And last, but certainly not least, I want to wish all of you an awesome Thanksgiving! Let's all pause to be thankful for our lives and for each other tomorrow. I am very thankful for the Dawg Pound, you all mean the world to me, as I am sure you do to Barbi. Be safe, everyone, and I'll post another update as I get one.

Thanks, Connie - thought I sent this earlier, but I guess I forgot. (I think it has something to to with my age...or all those gray hairs are sucking my memory out!)

Barbi is awake and out of the coma. She was
asked if she knew where she was. She nodded her head, and cried. I was
told that this is a very good sign, a sign that she will probably
completely recover. I'm told she is making progress is 'by leaps and
bounds', although her recovery will be a long, and, knowing her,
frustrating road, because she is confused about what happened, and why
her right side won't move. It seems as though her incapacitated
condition may have been brought on by a sudden and abrupt switch in
pain meds. I grant you, I'm going to insist that this be looked into
very seriously. No one will ever know just how grateful to God I am
that she's still here, and how grateful I am for your prayers. I
believe they made a difference!
We have not divorced yet (long
story), so, seeing as how I am still her legal husband of record, no
one is going to take advantage of her. I will do whatever I feel is in
her best interests so she can recover. Please pray that I can make the
right decisions on her behalf until she can do so on her own.
Thank
you, Mama Savol, and thank you to all who have been praying. Please
continue, I'm positive Barbi would be as grateful as I am.
Steve - just saw this message and keeping both Barb and you in my prayers.
Plase let us know when you hear anything...
Love to you all,
The Savol Family

from her, which was Saturday, she texted me and said she was in the E.R. on an

Well, I heard from Dani just now. Barb isn't out of the woods yet, but the docs seem to be cautiously optimistic. She said that Barb would have to learn to walk and speak again, and that she was probably going to be combative with everyone because of this, but, to my way of thinking, maybe Hailie won't lose both parents within weeks of one another, and Brendan won't lose the only real parent he's ever had. I will make sure you all have updates as I get them.
