Well, thanks for that, anyway. At least you did something and took
some action. I guess Yahoo Groups is just not popular enough to get a
good audience.
There is a petition online with about 4000 signatures. There is also a ton of activity on the HBO boards. There is a writer by the name of Lee Grant at the Union Tribune in San Diego who wrote an article about the cancellation of the show. You might want to contact him as I did to thank him for the article and tell him what you are trying to do. I have been on the forums everyday and I have written letters, postcards, etc. I still think we can make a difference.
As do I. I started this group with great intentions of doing something
BIG to save the show, but now I don't see where the few of us can make
a difference. 200 plus diggs and 80 members is nothing to the
executives who made the terrible decision to cancel it. If only there
was another distribution channel willing to give it a shot, I know it
would produce. I still don't understand why they choose to cancel vs.
move to a different time slot. Who even watches shows live these days?
With Tivo and DVR's what does it matter what time slot the show is in,
especially when it is on a premium channel. HBO needs to get their
shit together because if anything I saw how discontent its viewers are
with the way that they a handling things and regardless of how good
the shows are that they produce, viewers are becoming very hesitant to
committing to get attached in fear that it will be taken away just as
soon as they begin to really enjoy it. Well at least I know that I
won't be giving HBO my money anytime soon. Even if they release a DVD
I will download it as to not contribute to them.
Thank you to all who did their part to show your support, I am just
sorry that our opinions don't really matter in todays world.
And with that I bid John (and the Yost Family) adieu.
Your right the internet really isn't that Big.
- Eric
I thank everyone for the support and with that I bid John adieu.

85 members, 50 messages.
A couple of silly online petitions.
Post card campaigns. Waste of stamps. I would say waste of trees,
but I doubt there were enough cards sent to make up a single tree.
And it all dies out in a just 1 week.
What a great showing for the 1.3 MILLION viewers out there!
This is going to do something to revive the show?
God Speed John From Cincinnati!!!!
I give up on my faith in human intelligence.
Obviously, the internet is not huge.
Hi. Like you I am a fan of John From Cincinnati and would love to see
another season. To this end, I am one of the people trying to do
something by starting a postcard mailing campaign.
We could use your help... If we can get 50+ people to Digg the
following pages before midnight tonight (Sunday) we can get on their
front page. This is something that Jericho fans did with their peanut
campaign.
If you would please go to the following pages and Digg it, this will
help us reach our goal.
Also, please send your own postcards, teddy bears, surf boards,
petitions, make phone calls, etc. Every little bit helps!

Get hooked, watch and fail... Get hooked watch and fail.. Loose them all one after another. Jesus Christ, Jesus Christ, Jesus Christ!
I hear Milch is doing a new Cop show now. Where are his balls? Why didn't he throw his heavy-hitting weight at the HBO executives and just say "Let it ride, or you lose me"?
I for one am not going to watch anything else he does, because I don't want to be disappointed with another unexpected cancellation.
It probably won't be an issue for me, because I am dumping out HBO.

Stare me down? STARE ME DOWN, HBO?!!!!!!
for the first time since six feet under and carnivale i really felt
that you guys have put spark back into classically amazing television,
but now before you even allow it to get a CHANCE in developing, you
pull it prematurely! what about the wire huh?! that show didn't have a
huge following at first and with time and story development it became a
hit! what about rome?! it was the same thing! what about six feet under
too! the BEST show to ever be put onto television. why is it that the
shows that are the greatest get the axe? please do us all a favor and
allow it more time to develop and grow. like good wine, good story
telling takes time to develop and show progress in charecters and
storyline. please bring this show back. you are killing all of the fans
who love your network. people, NOT corporations, bring change. when
jericho was cancelled due to the outrage of fans, it was able to get a
summer miniseries! please bring this back, or we may have to send
canaries, surfboards, and or cincinatti paraphenilia! please, please,
please.
Assuming ther was at least 1.3 million people watching the show at
the end, where are they now?
________________
The pilot for the series was shown directly after the highly
anticipated finale of The Sopranos, but it failed to capture an
audience. The Sopranos received an audience of 11.9 million people
(the highest rating on the show since its fifth season premiere in
2004), according to Nielsen Ratings. The finale led into the John from
Cincinnati premiere which had an audience of 3.4 million viewers, less
than one third of The Sopranos finale's total audience. HBO studio
executives remain adamant that the Nielsen Rating system is unreliable
and inaccurate. The low ratings may also be the reaction of an
audience that was shocked by The Sopranos series finale.[6]
The second episode's ratings also slipped. A total of 1.2 million
people watched the episode, which is a drop of 2.2 million viewers.[7]
The fifth episode averaged 1.3 million viewers, an 8.33% increase over
the previous week, according to the Nielsen ratings. [8]
According to Newsweek, John from Cincinnati's audience is "sure to be
small, but devout, and that's just fine with HBO." [9]
One day after the first-season finale aired, HBO officially canceled
the show.[10]
HBO has not announced plans for a DVD release of the show.
[edit]
I LOVED JFC!!! No reason to keep HBO anymore. For all the people
who "didn't get it" I feel for you...It was a truly inspirational
show..part of the problem w/the human race..so wrapped up in ourselves
we miss the big picture...it's a shame only Negative things seem to
make it on TV, movies, games, etc...PEACE !!!
"I Don't Know, Butchie, Instead" LIVE ON!!!!

probably why I like that song.
Well, his estate is reaping the mini-rewards. They are selling the
hell out of that song on iTunes.

I found these addresses:
HBO (LA)
2049 Century Park East, #4100, Los Angeles CA 90067
or
HBO (NY)
1100 Avenue of the Americas, New York NY 10036
Yeah, sad thing about the theme song is that the singer never even got to know that his song was used as a theme for such a great show! Joe Strummer was one of the guys from The Clash... He died years ago.

I am still trying to process the fact that John From Cincinnati has been canceled. I guess it isn't new though. I felt the same way when Rome ended and I was even angry when I realized Deadwood would never have a resolution.
However, the real reason I started this topic was regarding the theme song. Does anybody know who sings it and the title?

Thanks,

K Guys. It has been done before and we can do it again. Best of all
we can use the logo from the show to send our message!
We can print custom super balls, beach balls, shirts, hats, whatever
we want and send it to HBO.
What would be the most impactful is if there was one central location
where we could order such items and have the delivered all at once.
Any ideas?

This is a Great show and I just watched the finale today since I am
usually not home on Sundays. I can't believe they cancelled this show.
Here's a hint HBO unless you do some other mobster show you won't get
another Soprano's.
HBO give John a chance
I need answers
Nothing, they were cancelled!
But what brought Jericho back was fan support and a stunt involving
large amounts of peanuts (20 tons.)

Futurama has a second life due to the work of the fans and mostly the
producers.
As for Family Guy, it made money.

As far as being cancelled, so was Jericho, so was Family Guy (twice), so was Futurama, etc... As far as saving a tree you maybe right, I understood that the usps postcards were made of recycled paper but I cannot find any proof to back that up.
