I know you all tend to be the strong silent type. But I thought
everyone would be interested to know that we get about 1 new member
every two weeks. With this kind of interest I just hope that everyone
has gotten to read our past episodes wich are posted in the files
section. I was also curious if enyone was interested in working on an
outline for a new episode.

Oh, a newbie :p
Let me catch you up. The group has actually written
three episodes. I'm sure you have read the first
episode 3.1. It picks up after final episode and
addresses McQueen getting sent to earth for medical
care and Hawkes and West meeting the new members
assigned to the 68th to fill in the squad. Oh, and
they manage to find Vansen and Damphousse.
Then episode 3.2 is mostly about McQueen on earth
still in recovery. He is contacted by two loving
parents of an invitro that just happens to be from
McQueen's batch. So he goes and meets his brother,
plus there are a few scenes of the 68th having a hard
time with their new honcho and their new members.
Than episode 3.3 has a few scenes of Mcqueen trying to
play family guy on earth while the 68th are assigned
to their first real mission since the botched peace
talks. The get sent to an astroid for sentry duty.
Little do they know that it's a cover so that the
aerotech company man that goes with them can retrieve
something. Plus the astroid turns out to be infested
with silicates.

But if you want to read it for yourself I could either
send you a zipped version or you could read it from
the files/episodes folder posted on this group's site.

Does that help?
Actually I'll send a zip to anyone that wants it.

Hey, our very own military expert, Awesome!
So what sorts of military at war events actually make
their way back to the general public? This seems like
a good place to start looking for interesting plot
ideas.
Here's a list of things I've seen in the news, (I
admit I only watch Jon Stewart for the news so I'm
sure there's more to be added to this list.)

A promotional visit to the troops by some high ranking
political person

A news team covering something

Some sort of scandal like the Marines that have been
accused of killing bystanders

um, there's got to be more, I'll keep thinking.

Hey, if aerotech thought they had some sort of break
through technology that they thought could replace the
hammerhead would they promote that to the public to
try to gain political support?

This is so exciting! I think this is the first time
there has been intrest in starting this group up in
years ;p.

So, has everyone read the first three episodes? What
we have done in the past is hashed out a basic plot.
Then broken the plot into scenes and people sign up to
write the scenes.
Would that work for you guys?

Here are some basic plot points the series is working
towards. we don't need to wrap them up in our episode
4 but we should consider them.

1. McQueen is on earth recovering and finding himself
a family. We might want to think of a plot involving
the Wild Cards that some how impacts the people of
earth theryby reminding McQueen that the Wild Cards
are the people he considers his family.

2.The conspiracy plot. In the 3rd episode the wild
cards were sent to an astriod as a cover so that
Aerotech could recover some unknown information, but
the new honcho of the 68 ended up with the disc and
she is just as power hungry as Aerotech.

Another idea would be to take a break from the magor
plot lines and write a holiday episode. Tis the season
you know :)

For a new writer you have an excellent grasp of plot and the characters
were all in character. I thought it was a great start, but you need to
write more. There's a large gap between the end of the story and the
short future scene that you had at the beginning. I want to know what
happened in the intervening years. Would you like for me to beta read
it for you before you post it on the list?

Hey all,
With all the new members that have joined (thanks to the
availability of S:AAB on DVD) I was wondering if we might want to
try writing a new episode. Anyone interested in brain storming some
plot points?
Has everyone visited our files to read our past episodes?
http://tv.groups.yahoo.com/group/saab-tvs/files/Episodes/

What we have done in the past is come up with a plot. Section it
into it's major scenes and then people would volenteer to write the
scene they were interested in.

For example, here is the plot and scene break up we had for episode
2.3 If you read the episode you can see there is alot of leway for a
volenteer to write in their own ideas while writing the scene.

1)Opening- Chigs attack the methane planet.
2)Blair and Hyland interchange. (He announces his clearence to go
with the 58th on their methane mission)
3)58th gets briefed on their next mission, Gear's up.
4)Landing and Deploying on planet.
5)AI's get into a shoot out with the 58th
6)Blair sneaks off, Hyland follows him to an old IV facility.
(Blair sets a bomb, AI's show up, Hyland pockets evidence)
7)Vansen and 58th find and rescue Hyland and Blair
8)back on the saratoga -Hill gets another religious flier
9)Hyland privatly reviews the evidence she found at the facility.

People post their scene to the group when the feel ready for
feedback. That's when our beta readers and grammer experts pip up
and take over by making their edits or suggestions.
People who need help with their scene ask for it, everyone pitches
in. All the scenes get written and we start to discuss possible
plots for the next episode.

Does this sound like fun or would we rather maintain radio silence?

This reason I ask is because I have been playing with setting up a
Wiki for another site and it occured to me that a Wiki may be a
perfect setup to work on a virtual series.

Here is an example of a Wiki:

http://oblivion.gamewikis.org/wiki/Main_Page

Not the best example but it would people an idea of how it works.
