(Cunningly lifted from Network Video's
website.)<br>"ROBIN OF SHERWOOD <br>The definitive depiction of the
Robin Hood legend makes its dvd debut on 11 March 2002.
Series 1 starring Michael Praed will be available as a
double box set (which includes a bonus disc) and as two
individual volumes, Series 2 will be available in May with
series 3 scheduled for September and October."<br><br>So
it looks like the Jason series will be split in two
to make it more like the Praed series...

Robin also won my heart, way back in the 80's.
Amazon.com stock To Die For 2. When the first screen appears
if you search for Michael Praed under VHS, it will
give you all the videos they stock that he stars in.
Beware, To Die For is rather expensive, but he's worth it
right! Happy hunting.

Robin won my heart with those beautiful green
eyes, long dark locks, pale skin, high cheekbones,
tall(6'),etc. How can you not fall for him? He can have these
loving looks, which makes you feel he loves YOU! God
help me, I've fallen and I can't get up! In "To Die

OK from start to finish:<br><br>Picture of Robin
and Albion on front cover, inset picture of Robin and
Marion.<br><br>Inside cover, split into four well five actually. The
"flying demons", Herne, Robin and Little John, Robin and
Marion (looking grubby), Robin firing an
arrow.<br><br>Contents page picture of Robin firing arrow.<br><br>A
Story "The Rebels" about a bunch of villagers that want
the reward money for the capture of the
Outlaws.<br><br>A Story "May Day", Marion gets captured and
rescued.<br><br>Pictures about some cast members, Robin and Herne tells
why he was chosen etc.<br><br>Marion, about where she
came from ie Leaford Grange and that Sir Richard
fought in the Holy Land.<br><br>Will Scarlet, tells
about his wife's death and how he met Robin in the
dungeon of Nottingham Castle.<br><br>A Story "Wolfshead"
Will goes a bit peculiar remembering his wife or
something then they capture Gisburne but as usual release
him.<br><br>A Story "The Slave" A girl is escaping from the
Sheriff with some information about capturing the outlaws
so they help her to rescue her sister who is being
held ransome or something.<br><br>More Pictures about
cast:<br>Little John tells how he was bewitched when he first met
Robin and how he was saved.<br><br>Friar Tuck tells how
he was Marion's Chaplain and then helped her to join
the outlaws, in doing so became one himself.<br><br>A
Word Search "The Wolfshead Wordsearch" contains
character names etc.<br><br>A Story "The Quest" Marion
meets up with an old friend and Robin gets jealous but
it all turns out alright in the end.<br><br>A Story
"Hernes Son" The Sheriff has a plan to capture the
outlaws, kills Robin but Herne revives him.<br><br>A Story
"The Relic" Something about a Virgin's milk being at
an Abbey and a girl being captured because of
it.<br><br>A Story "The Bishops Visit" Some actors come to
Nottingham to entertain the Sheriff and end up helping Robin
to get Gisburne in trouble basically and then help
them to get some treasure.<br><br>A Game "The Quest
for the Golden Goblet" a board game where Robin
starts at one end and the Sheriff the other. The first
one to get to the Goblet in the centre of the game
wins. Of course there are many pitfalls on the way such
as "Fall into a pond - miss a turn", "Drop your
sword - miss a turn". Loads of fun.<br><br>Back cover,
picture of Robin firing an arrow.<br><br>Hope this makes
you happy. In case you hadn't guessed I still have
the annual.<br><br>Char.

3.5 “The Sheriff of Nottingham” by Anthony
Horowitz<br><br>Now this I like! Can’t really fault it, (…and there
are plenty of Sheriffisms! J) very enjoyable. The
only downside is that you know by the end of it
everything will be normal, but that’s true of all Robin
episodes save “The Greatest Enemy” and * shudder * “The
Time of the Wolf.”<br><br>3.6 “The Cross of St
Ciricus” by Richard Carpenter<br><br>The masterstroke.
Sorry – the underused masterstroke. I think the next
time that Guy’s relationship to Robert is mentioned is
when Robert and Marion plan to marry in * shudder *
“The Time of the Wolf.”<br>Criminally underused
plotline.<br>A brilliant episode, which is surely one of the
best episodes of Robin of Sherwood?<br><br>3.7 “Cromm
Cruac” by Anthony Horowitz<br><br>Grrrr…. I hate Gulnar,
only “The Time of the Wolf” stops this being my least
favourite episode. Don’t like it. Never have. (The oddly
it’s one of the ones I remembered better from my
childhood.<br><br>3.8 “The Betrayal” by John Flanagan<br><br>Why
couldn’t this guy have written more? This one has
everything – twists, turns, suspense action… Yup, my
favourite non-Carpenter episode.<br><br>3.9 “Adam Bell” by
Anthony Horowitz<br><br>It’s safe to say that Volume 7 is
the worst, and least watched, tape in the collection.
This is the highlight. To my mind it answers the
question as to why Robin died at the end of “The Greatest
Enemy” – he needed to become a legend and not fade into
memory like Adam. The best Horowitz episode? (At least
Gulnar isn’t in it! And yes, I know I’m going to get
some response from Gulnar fans! Heh.)<br><br>3.10 “The
Pretender” by Anthony Horowitz<br><br>I’d say this was the
best Horowitz except for that damn He-Man style
ending… “So who was he?” says some one. Tuck I think. “Oh
just a Pretender…” says Robert. Swarmy grin. All
laugh.<br>God I hate that – I can see why some people think
Robert was a cocky Robin, but then we didn’t want a
carbon copy of Praed or what would be the
point?<br><br>3.11 “Rutterkin” by Richard
Carpenter<br><br>Carpenter’s swan song. Sheer Brilliance. Mr Horowitz – this
is how to do magik! Not a bald prat in sight! I
can’t praise this enough, the scene’s between Robert
and the Earl of Huntingdon are magic – and they hint
to the excellence that could have been, if only the
writers had have looked to Robert’s character and wrote
Robin stories dealing with that. He was the Hooded Man,
but he was also a noble! Grrr….<br><br>3.12 “The Time
of the Wolf” by Richard Carpenter<br>3.13 “The Time
of the Wolf” by Richard Carpenter<br><br>Do I have
to? Don’t make me… Ok I may be doing this an
injustice… …but I don’t think so. I don’t like it. There
really is only so many times I can watch Guy in fur
snarling “This. Is. The. Time. Of. The. Wolf!”<br>Good
points… Must remember that I’m trying to defend the
accursed thing… The whole army raising plot line was good…
Erm… The reference to the stone circle scene at the
end of the first series in “The King’s Fool.”<br>The
flame arrow scene was touching as always. (I can’t see
another way to have needed that, save killing a major
character…) But god, wasn’t Plaque Jason bad? “Hmmm… how can
I have Marion think he’s dead…. I know a snarling
clone! Genius.” Sorry Rich, but it was pants…<br>On the
subject of Marion what was all that I’m now a nun crap?
“I’m sorry Robins I only did that pagan stuff to get
into your pants – I never believed in Herne…”<br>Can’t
make this episode sound good. I hate it, I really
do….<br><br>In Summary:<br><br>There’s only 3 or 4 sub par
episodes. Some really sub par, I think you can guess which
ones I mean… ;) So give Robert a break, start on
Horowitz! Hehe. Sorry dude if you read this…!<br><br>Thanks
for reading,<br><br>Nath <br><br>(Glad he didn't have
to watch Time of the Wolf again for the purposes of
this post...!)

3.1 “Herne’s Son part 1”<br>3.2 “Herne’s Son part
2”<br>3.3 “The Power of Albion”<br> By Richard
Carpenter<br><br>Now it is safe to say that when writing Robin of
Sherwood, Carpenter was on fire (not literally!) personally
I see these three episodes as parts 2 – 4 of the
story begun in 2.7 “The Greatest Enemy.” (One of the
greatest TV episodes of all time?)<br>At least there
wasn’t a quick turnaround and instant change in Robin’s
and it does fit nicely into the conflicting base
myths of where Robin came from, so I think it was an
important change to make story-wise as well as obvious
actor reasons.<br>Of the four I think “The Power of
Albion” is the weakest, but I was glad after “Herne’s
Son” that Marion didn’t immediately go back to
outlaws.<br>And on a side night every time I watch “Herne’s Son”
I pray Robert’s going to bang an arrow in Richard
O’Brien for his future crimes this series.<br><br>3.4
“The Inheritance” by Anthony Horowitz<br><br>Quite
possibly the daftest Robin episode imo, (…and it was all
going so well till the ending…) but it was fun. It
didn’t have an ounce of the drama that the early Praed
episodes did, but then Carpenter wrote them all. Don’t get
me wrong, I do like most of Hororwitz’s work on
Robin, but he couldn’t hold a torch to Carpenter.<br>It
sadly missed Nickolas Grace’s Sheriff! I’m pretty sure
he wasn’t missing at all in the first two series’
save for “The Swords of Wayland”, which was carried
brilliantly by the dastardly Abbotess. The villains, were
never that threatening to our heroes. <br>I might be
wrong, but I think the reason why different writers
worked on the Connery era Robin was due to ITV wanting
13 episodes that series as opposed to the normal 6
or 7… <br>If I am wrong on this please don’t
hesitate to tell me! ;)<br><br>more to come...!

I haven't actually seen the series since it was
on tv all those years ago, but I can still remember
Michaels Praeds last episode. He was surrounded but
holding off the sherrifs men, until he had one arrow
left, which he shot far into the forest. <br>I guess I
was brought up on "tales of myths and legends" as my
grandmother would entertain us with stories of King Arthur
and Robin Hood. They obviously had a lasting
impact!<br><br>Nice to catch up with you all<br><br>Ceinwyn
