Actually, Jeff/Bob gazes lovingly at said
photograph for several secs - so you might be in with a
fighting chance of getting a good shot. And yeah, I have
one of those antique video players that fuzzy pause
too. <br>What'd be great is if the Beeb release R&H on
DVD - then you could have every frame on line with
perfect clarity. If only...
I'll certainly have a go, Poltergoost, though the
problem I have is that my video isn't one of the ones
that do a nice clean "pause", but leave horizontal
lines all over the screen. So I have to take my pics
off a moving picture, which gets variable results.
Usually the best ones come off ones where everyone is
standing still - the ones I took with Tom Baker are the
worst as even when he's not moving the CGI background
constantly is.<br><br>But I will try, and glad you like the
snaps. I wonder how people get the really good quality
ones? What do you do, Polter? (Poltergoost's really
amusing page is at <a href=http://www.spooksterville.co.uk/
target=new>http://www.spooksterville.co.uk/</a> if
you didn't know. Look at the bit on the original
series, that made me chuckle - very irreverant) Scan your
pics?<br><br>Anyway, I'm rambling on a bit here so I'll shut up - any
more requests for piccies?
Richard, I've just had a look at the photos on
this club site which I seem to remember you saying
you'd taken straight off the telly with a dig
camera.<br><br>I was just wondering if you could get a snap of the
picture of Jeff and Marty that was on Marty's desk in
Drop Dead?<br><br>I think it's one of the nicest pics
of Vic and Bob I've ever seen, and I've seen an
awful lot...
There's another Randall and Hopkirk chatroom
which you'll find on Caroline Plaister's site. They
meet up on Thursday nights, though that might change.
Of course there's also the Reeves and Mortimer
chatroom which meets at 9pm on Sundays.
... does this mean we'll all log in after the show on Saturday to post our
views? Peter Bowles in it this week.<br><br>There's even a chat room in this
club, maybe we should use that one time too...
Hello Richard and company, <br><br>Poltergoose
here - though for some daft and inexplicable reason I
have to use my other Yahoo ID of
Coolspex59.<br><br>Dunno how many people are currently in this club, but I
thought I'd let you know I have a R&H 2000 site:
<a href=http://www.spooksterville.co.uk
target=new>http://www.spooksterville.co.uk</a><br><br>There's already a link on
Richard's site, but a bit of
brazen self-promotion rarely goes amiss.<br><br>Cheers
y'all<br><br>Poltergoose
I've finally got some (extremely poor, sorry)
sound files on-line at my R & H page
(<a href=http://www.geocities.com/no1atthegreendome/RandallandHopkirk.html
target=new>http://www.geocities.com/no1atthegreendome/RandallandHopkirk.html</a>\
) under "Sounds".<br><br>Not really worth bragging
about, these are very rubbish quality, but if anyone
wants to know what the theme tune and a couple of lines
sound like by placing a cheap microphone in front of a
tv set then have a listen.<br><br>Incidentally,
welcome to p_cotterell - nine members now!
Finally got around to adding some R & H links...
I've still only found ten to go round (and obviously I
put my site first :) but there are some good sites on
there - including official BBC sites where you can
download behind-the-scenes clips and a (very short, it has
to be said) promo of the Cardigans' theme song.
Mike Pratt was Jeff Randall in the original
series.<br>I don't *really* mind the 'breaking wind thing' but
the traditionalist fans will have fits!!<br>But the
new Jeannie is great - though some have said she's
sort of taken the old Jeff's role - but I think she's
great!!
Should I know who Mike Pratt is? Was he in the
original series or something? Anyway, I don't think it's
in bad taste at all: I suppose it depends on how
they present it but seeing as they had to get the
consent of his family I'm sure it can't be that
bad.<br><br>As for the breaking wind thing, I am wholly in
favour! Of course, a lot of you will say that this is
because I have never seen the original series, but I
think that now the show is being set in the early 21st
century it should make a conscious effort to cater
towards the more depraved sensibilities of our time - the
show has to sell to an audience now, not to one 30 odd
years ago (or whenever it was exactly was). I'm sure
that nobody thinks making Jeannie a little more
assertive has spoiled the show... Or do they???
What does everyone think about these things?
Shonaigh has confirmed what a trailer for the "Behind The
Scenes" suggested - Marty can move objects by breaking
wind. I really hope they edit that out, personally. And
one of the ghosts in the series will be a matted-in
Mike Pratt, with the consent of his family. Mike died
in 1976, is this a little bit tasteless?<br><br>As
for DW '96-style, I could have handled that if they'd
had a special "he's not half-human really, he was
only joking, and he only snogged that woman as he was
disorientated" episode. At least the Vic and Bob R & H has the
benefit of being a completely new series, not a
continuation that changed all the rules.
Yes, there are a few more things. <br>Someone
seemed to think that, since Marty could blow things by
expelling air from his mouth then he could do the same by
<shudders 'cos it's actually in an episode>
*farting*<br>I was watching it with my Mum and we were
exchanging 'oh my god' glances. This is going to have the
'traditionalists' (those who think that this new series is
practically blasphemy - though I can't really talk - I watch
the 1996 Doctor Who telemovie and howl at the screen
when the Doctor kissed Grace and when it's 'revealed'
that the Doctor is half-human (he's
not!!!!))<br><br>We also got to see the bit when Marty posesses Jeff
to try to get to Jeanie and when some other ghost of
barging past still *more* ghosts to get to Marty for some
reason. But a lot of it was just Vic and Bob messing
around and being *very* strange!!!
Eight members now... so it seems Shonaigh and I are agreed... the second episode
was very good indeed... is there anyone here that disagrees with this view?
Point taken, Shonaigh - but then, it IS the
Anorak's guide after all, I have to log all these anorakky
observations.<br><br>I don't have digital choice so I didn't get to see
the behind-the-scenes show: were there any more
exclusives in there?
Well I just read the review of the ep on the
Anorak site - I did notice the jump when Marty appears
when Jeff's looking in a mirror. I watched the 'Behind
the scenes' thing on BBC Chioce afterwards (taped it
too!) and apparently they still use the old 'start and
stop' mthod of making Marty appear - they just add more
swishy effects afterwards. And I'd like to know if *you*
could stay *perfectly* still until the camera starts
again - it must be hard to do and it's more noticable
if it's a close up shot - if you watch closely
you'll probably see it in all the other appearances too.
... seven members now, and hopefully more to come
as the new series goes on...<br><br>in fact, if the
series continues as it did tonight I can see it getting
very popular... I've read three reviews tonight,
Shonaigh's and two from the R & H mailing list (I assume
you're all on this list, but if not I'll start using the
club's "links" facility and add that to it).<br><br>I
have to agree, the second episode was much, much
better. Full anorak details will be on my site by
mid-morning tomorrow if you want to look at those, in the
meantime I've already taken (not very good, really, but I
tried my best) photos from the episode and added them
to the club.
What can I say? Wow!!!! I loved it!! Tom Baker
was brilliant - it was like watching Doctor Who
repeats from UK Gold again!! The music, the
effects.....<sighs> only 7 days to go 'til the next one now....
Welcome to the club, rob_burrisss_pickle_jar -
six of us now!<br><br>In answer to your question,
yes, Kenneth Cope was the main guy in Carry on at your
Convience and plays Ray in Brookside.<br><br>In fact, a
list of his credits can be found at:
<a href=http://us.imdb.com/Name?Cope,+Kenneth#Actor
target=new>http://us.imdb.com/Name?Cope,+Kenneth#Actor</a> (though this hasn't
yet been updated to
incorporate his role in Brookside)
Hi all!<br>I am a new fan of the series, having
never seen the original once yet being so impressed by
the pilot of the new version that I simply had to
join. Of course, I'd heard of the original - and would
have watched it if it were ever aired on terrestrial
TV - but had never seen a minute of R&H 'till last
week. Now I'm kicking myself for not recording it!<br>I
saw a pic' of the guy who used to play Hopkirk in the
paper last week: I'm sure you've all heard this
question thousands of times, but is it the same person who
plays Ray in Brookside (and the main character in
'Carry on at your Convenience')?
definately both! i used to love watching marti
and jeff when i was little- now they've come out with
a new series and i think it's brilliant! Hopefully
more will turn up soon- i've been inviting everybody i
can think of!
The first ep was great - it's about 5 years since
I last saw the show, so being only 11 at the time I
can't really remember much except that I liked the
series but can't really compare it to the new version so
I'm not as biased as some might be.
So we've finally seen the first episode of the
new series, what did we all make of it?<br><br>My
view, for what it's worth, can be found by clicking
"founder's home page" under the club photo.<br><br>After
each episode I will be taking photos of the story with
my cheap digicam and posting them here - the
"photos" section already has three off-screen captures
from the first episode, "Drop Dead".
Welcome to the Message Board for Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) - this club is
available for lovers of either series - the original or the 2000 version...
