Producer Peter Rogers, who produced over thirty films in the "Carry On" series
-- including "Carry On at Your Convenience" and "Carry On Matron" that starred
Kenneth Cope -- died in his sleep Tuesday, April 14, at the age of 95.

It's taken something like eight years but I've now finally completed full
story/plot/trivia/cast/crew details for all the episodes of the original
series.

There's still the odd niggle like typos that I'll amend, and I might redo a
review here and there, but after almost a decade I've finally completed it.

The silly thing is, it didn't actually take that long when I got down to it.

Hope you like it.

I'm up to episode 20 now... I'll need to go back and proof some of these,
put in the line breaks in the story write ups that I forgot to do and so on, but
I've now done the first 20 with some new reviews as well.

6 more to go!! I'm actually quite enjoying it, a couple of the episodes were
a lot better than I remembered, too.

No worries Olivia, this will be stuff accessed under its own menu.

As for the new series I've still got all my old reviews of it, I just wanted
to mothball it for a time and look at reworking it in the future.

Oh no! I really prefer the newer series. It's the one I saw first -- and
the one I wrote fic for.
I don't know if there are any sites still being maintained for the new
site. I did write reviews of the episodes for one of the mailing lists --
maybe even this one, which you're welcome to use on the site if you need
stuff (if I can find my copies - my it's been a long time). I might even be
able to clean them up a bit if I can find them.

--Olivia

Oh -- totally off topic but do you know how to do short .wav file audio
clips? I'm looking for some specific ones from a couple of different
series. But it would be cool to have .wav files on the site -- if you don't
already have them.

Thanks Jennifer... I did have some Laurel and Hardy clips up on Youtube once but
they took them down, sadly. What clips would you like to see if I did put them
up?

Anyway, I've just added details to episode 15, The Man From Nowhere... I think
the review's a bit harsh in retrospect but I'll leave it.

Thanks for the kind words... I'm not too keen on the remake myself, so I'll just
do a page on it I think.

I wouldn't hesitate to put clips up, Richard. Youtube don't really

worry about shows from the 60s - it's more copyrighted music that

they concern themselves with.

I have a number of clips on my Raffles The Amateur Cracksman site

which is hosted by Homestead - Homestead have even recently

introduced a new feature where you can import clips from Youtube -

check it out under 'trailers' and 'film' at the following:

Your website is looking very attractive, nicely laid out and easy to

migrate around. Great to see, this was such a fab show especially

the original series (I have never been all that keen on the 2000

series, but that's just me),

Cheers,

At the very high risk of my growing bias showing, this news that
you're going all original R&H, at least for the
www.randallandhopkirk.com URL, has made my week. :D Even though Vic
and Bob's take was what introduced me to the overall franchise, I've
about gotten to the point where other than that, the remake is a mere
footnote and should be treated as such. Kenneth Cope and Mike Pratt
are and will always be THE ghost and his partner.

(And to be honest, I'd probably be a smidge more open-minded about
the remake if it weren't for how its 'The Making of' book treated the
original R&H as something to be completely ignored...I can't decide
which was/is worst, there being no mention at all of Kenneth Cope
(despite the place housing the R&H office bearing his name!!!) OR
how Mr. Higston, among others, took it upon himself to slam the
original in its own 'chapter'. Therefore, I don't mind being a bit
defiant towards the remake as I progress with my R&H fandom.)

What she said...as a matter of fact, unless YT took it down super
recently, there was an ENTIRE original R&H episode on there ("The
House On Haunted Hill" to be precise).

As for some clips to feature...two that immediately spring to mind
are the 'Escape From Lambert' sequence from "A Disturbing Case" and
the scenes in "When The Spirit Moves You" where Calvin P. Breem can
see Marty. Another good one to feature would of course be when Jeff
first meets Marty's ghost in the graveyard.

Hi April,

I'll let Karen know you were asking after her.

As I was never a major fan of the Vic and Bob version of the series I've decided
to temporarily mothball that part of the site and make www.randallandhopkirk.com
an original series only site. I've also just added details for Episode 13, But
What A Sweet Little Room, including a new review.

As I've already done the cast lists, images, etc. then these aren't as hard to
do as I thought. I might try and do a few more over the following weeks, maybe
see if I can't get up to the 20 mark at least.

Well, This time last week I finaily had the right mood to watch the 2000 remake.
All 13 eps.

I got a few suprises along the way.

#1. Tho I had watched 'Drop Dead' before. This was about I think 4-5 yrs. back.
{was on a pro made tape I bought at a con. from Bonnie} It wasn't till this last
time {this time on the UKr2 dvd's.} that in the last few scenes with that loon
artist that i heard and then confirmed in the creds was non other then David
Tennate. The latest new Doctor in the new Dr. Who.

Oh my...lolol I am glad I didn't get it back then. Better to have never really
seen David before Who.

#2. Tom Baker. Oh my..oh my. :) I had been curious what his character was going
to be like. lol And I am still not sure. lol But it was no doubt...Tom was
having fun...

#3. Most of what I watched was good. Tho some of the stories were...well, a
little over the top. There was little doubt then this Jeff and Marty were never
meant to be PI's. I would of really liked to see more detecting. It was nice to
catch the little homages to the original. And tho it's quick. I loved that very
brief incert of Mike Pratt in the white suit. From the ep where he almost drouns
and his ghost for a few seconds pops out and is standing of the shore, arms
crossed. and looking very unhappy at Marty. lolol

I was suprised that Ken didn't play a bit poll in an ep. or did I miss it. He
was in that behind the scenes thing. Just a little near the start. he seemed to
give a positive nod to the remake. Was Annette asked to do a small bit in an
ep?? If so I missed it.

#4. Over all I enjoyed it more then I thought I would. But it's still no where
as good as the original. I did get a few ideas from some of the things Marty
found he could do. The popping into a pc and the net. That was wild. A real
ghost in the machine thing. lol

I still would of liked to have seen a lot of the silly stuff tones down. Or out.
And alot more of the PI work Mike Pratt's Jeff was really quite good at.

Over all. I liked it. A third season would of been nice.

There was only one rp that was...well, the most Boring.

Season 2. Ep. 6. The Glorious Butranekh.
That story was just dull. And tho the last one was well, Odd. I amd glad they
didn't end the season and series on this ep.

Of the 26 eps of the original There really isn;t one that I ever found dull. To
me all 26 were fun and I enjoyed each.

But of the 13 of the remake. Somelike TGB were not that great.

And even the remakes best are still no match for the worst of the original.

I really could of done without most of the silliness. Plus there was far too
much of the newage ideas about ghost and the afterlife.

Sorry for the somewhat brief list of comments. I will be happy to talk more.
with whomever..

Hugs.

April.

Answering my own post, which is a bit sad, but:

Yes, he is playing the same character - Jed 'Sunny Jim' Stone! [:D]

If anybody is a fan of Kenneth Cope as well as R and H(D), there's a
notice in this week's TV guide that he is returning to the soap in a
guest role, playing an OAP being evicted from his home by one of the
regular characters. Kenneth Cope's character is a Mr Stone, but I don't
think it's supposed to be the same 'Jed Stone' as he played in the 60s.

Just thought I'd announce that! [:-B]

Congratulations Anorak/Richard!

If possible, could a scan of this page/plug be posted for those of us
who don't get the Metro for one reason or another?

I don't know what else to say about this, really, I'm still shocked.

Hi,

Yeah, the Jane Austin/Charles Dickens book was VERY helpful when I was
writing "The Secret Adventures of Jules Verne" fanfic (one chapter even
inspired a story all on it's own!). I bought the book initially because
I am also a "fan" of Victorian literature (Esp. Charles Dickens,
Sherlock Holmes, and Jules Verne) - so it's really helpful in explaining
cultural differences, and simple things like money, the Table of Ranks,
etc.

I stole it from somebody's icon on Live Journal - tho' I must admit, I
did so since it seemed VERY appropriate.

Here's another tho' that I came up with.

"Charles Dickens wrote Victorian television."

Thanks for you feedback and input. I still like the word Y'think. And he is
just thinking it.

And did remove the extra 'o'.

And your right. After you do write the story or a good size scene. It's very
easy to not see a few missed words.

Jackie.. Love this quote..lol

beats them up for spare vocabulary."

Hello Bruce
The number FTC96B looks correct.
But it is not the same Triumph that he arrives on at the tea shop
I can only read part of the number ***52C
Hope this helps and does not just confuse it more?
Ian
