Hello Bruce
The number FTC96B looks correct.
But it is not the same Triumph that he arrives on at the tea shop
I can only read part of the number ***52C
Hope this helps and does not just confuse it more?

Glad you also have an (English?) beta - there's nothing like the
personal touch. Different generations and even different parts of the
country could disagree about slang terms, so books get left behind in an
instant. I use the latter book for fan fiction set in the past - and by
that I mean the eighteenth century, not the 1960s! [;)]

I like that! Very appropriate! [:D]

Yeah, I found it in an online dictionary (on an online dictionary?), but
I notice they couldn't think of a context to provide as an example! It's
'loosened'/'loosening'.

Sorry -- this is one I see on Fanfic Net a lot and it drives me nuts.

LOSE (one O) means to No Longer Have; both in the sense of misplacing
or no longer possessing an object AND in the figurative sense, meaning
to no longer have a person around (due to death, normally). The past
tense is LOST.
e.g. Jeff was always afraid he'd lose Marty one day. Jeff lost Marty
in 1973. "Don't lose your backpack," the mother called out to her child
on the first day of school.

LOOSE (two Os) is the opposite of TIGHT. Also, to allow something
freedom, or something gains it's freedom.
Jane wore a loose blouse. Mary let the wild bird loose. The dog got
loose from its leash.
Think of the movie: "Any Which Way But Loose".
The past participle is LOOSENED. -- Jeff loosened his bonds. (Note:
Jeff worked his bonds loose, is also acceptable).

It's the danger of relying on spell-check in your word processor too
much. Just remember, just because a word is recognised by spell-check,
doesn't mean you are using it correctly.

While I'm at it (and I don't remember if I saw this in your story or not)
There are there forms of "there".

They're short for (or a contraction of) they are. So, they're playing
in the park. (they is a plural pronoun).
Their -- the possessive, meaning something belongs to someone (again a
plural) The students picked-up their books today.
There -- Used basically when the other two don't make sense; also is
usually followed by the verb TO BE in one of it's forms.
There are 26 letters in the alphabet. There is a stain on the carpet.
There used to be a theatre on the corner of 6th and main but it's no
longer there. (notice that at the end of the sentence, it is not
followed by a verb). There was a theatre on the corner.

In English, words that sound alike but are spelled differently and have
different meanings are called homonyms.

Besides the spell check in your Word Processor, a good dictionary, and
if you can find it, a secretary's handbook (Or office writing guidebook)
are really valuable tools. I have several dictionaries that live right
on my desk, plus a few hardcover, unabridged ones holding up my bookcases.

One set that's great, but is now hard to find is:
The Word Book II (pub, Houghton Mifflin, based on American Heritage
Dictionary) - literally just lists words alphabetically.
The Right Word -- helps define homonyms.
The Written Word -- a guide to English Grammar.

For British English I use:
British English A to Zed
What Jane Austin Ate and Charles Dickens Knew by Daniel Pool
(and a British beta -- slang changes FAST!)

I've got to agree with the other poster - "Y'think", or even "Ya'
think"? is a catch phrase I identify in particular with
Col/gen/brigadier gen/ Jack O'Neill - I can't see Napoleon saying that,
even in the 1970s.

I'll need to go through the fic and do the rest of my nitpicking, but I
thought I'd add my thoughts on that one now.

'Loosing' isn't actually a word - releasing a fastening, say, or untying
a knot, would be 'loosening'. 'Losing' - one 'o' - means that soon you
will no longer have something. It's a common spelling mistake, though.
Double 'm's in words always make me have to stop and think!

Anytime. It's always helpful to have an objective pair of eyes look over
your writing, as the author usually loses sight of the wood for the
trees by the time the story is finished [;)]

Hi all

Not sure if you're interested, but I have a couple of rare (I think LOL)
items on ebay, both connected to the Vic & Bob series.

Both are original items I got from Universal Island when the series was
being made.

The first is a promo CD of the soundrack album:
http://tinyurl.com/696obs

The other is a Promo video for the theme song:
http://tinyurl.com/64uddz

Both start at 99p, no reserve.

Well, this was more about '73. And in this scene/story the relationship doesn't
really play much of a part of thw whole.

the law, of course, but I don't think Marty would have been liberal enough to

possibly. >>

That is how I see it. Hey.. I get who hangs out with his dead partners ghost

And I think of it this way. Marty may have seen and heard things said and do
when Napoleon didn't know he was watching.

I really haven;t thot much about when and how Nap first sees Marty and realises
his a ghost..

This story is still just kind of hanging out there for now.

The last person I'd want marty or any real ghost to talk to would be Mary Ann

THis will come a croseed like a rant being I feel so arful right now. Sorry.
Just can't stand that woman.

I don't really care for the way ghost are wrote about in tv these days.

R&H[D] was the best tv series and relaetd to deal with ghost. Marty wasn't
treated like he wasn't a person any more just couse he was dead.

I hate it when ghost are called or refered to is 'things'.

Which B& eps is David C in?

Each of the S&S stories had their own atmospheric feeling.

Hey did you know that the guy who wrote the 3rd assiment about the faceless man
also wrote the 'Out Of The Rain' story for the last season of Torchwood. Had
the same feeling. Was about people/creatures coming out of old film. I watched
that ep and could see where S&S could of shoed up to help stop them..

The scraest s assiment 2. My have assiment is 1.

Too bad we only get to meet Silver and Lead.Love Silver. Lead was a hoot..lol

Hi April,

It wasn't a particular fic -- just something I would really LIKE to
read. I found *Sapphire and Steel* and UNCLE at the exact same time in
the mid-1980s. (Actually, it was interesting -- the only people in the
US who even *knew* about *Sapphire and Steel* were UNCLE fans, since the
show never aired here. S & S sorta' became a cult classic with tapes
being passed about from fan to fan.) If you've never seen the show -
it's AWESOME -- David McCallum, Joanna Lumley, and it two of the six

story telling that really make the show work.

Hi April--

I wasn't thinking of any particular *Sapphire and Steel*/UNCLE crossover
fic; tho' I think I read one (possibly in "The Paladin Affair" -- does
that sound right? The zine, "The Paladin Afr" had a bright blue cover
and about half of it was various crossovers. And if I'm remembering
rightly, it also had a really depressing story where *both* Illya and

But, since I love *Sapphire and Steel* and I love UNCLE, and since I

Anyway, I'd love to read one -- or more!

course, but I don't think Marty would have been liberal enough to accept
their relationship, if he noticed it in the first place. Jeff, very
possibly.

A 'My' for 'Mr'; 'so good, so far' when it should be 'so far, so good';
'form' for 'from'. That sort of thing. I'm a nitpicker by nature! [;)]

I agree! Of course, I don't know how the UNCLE characters sound, but I
could get a fairly clear impression from your writing, particularly
Illya ('I know when you lie to me').

I would like to get Marty talking to 'Ghost Whisperer' Melinda Gordon,
or someone like her - his thoughts and feelings about haunting Jeff and
being 'dead' to everyone else, including Jeannie, were never really
covered in the series. ("You can see me, can't you?" - "It's ... a gift"
- "Great. Look, you must help my partner - he went to meet somebody in a
warehouse three hours ago, and I haven't seen him since!" - "Is that why
you're still here? Because you feel responsible for your friend?" -
"What are you on about, woman?" - "I can help spirits ... cross over,
you know" - "I don't want to ... I can't cross over. I was cursed to
remain on earth for 100 years for staying out of my grave ... This isn't
helping!"  [:p] )

Can I be rather predictable, and ask that old chestnut - which are your
favourite episodes (from both series)? It's so old it's creaking, but
everybody usually has an opinion! I know it's probably archived, but I'm
new to the group, and would love to find out more about my fellow fans
and what they love about the show! [:D]

Reason I ask is that, after discussing with someone what I consider to
be the 'low mark' of the original series - the episode 'It's Supposed To
Be Thicker Than Water' - I realised that I actually prefer one
screenwriter (Tony Williamson) over another (Donald James). Two
different approaches to the same show, but it makes all the difference
(to me, at least). I think my favourites, therefore, would have to be
'My Late Lamented Friend and Partner' (Ralph Smart, I think that was),
'When The Spirit Moves You', 'The Man From Nowhere' (OK, that was James
- the exception that proves the rule!), and 'Vendetta For A Dead Man'.
Not so cracking episodes include: 'Just For The Record' and 'You Can
Always Find A Fall Guy'.

The only episode of the remake I really liked was 'Whatever Possessed
You', because it was more like a traditional ghost story and moderately
grounded in reality (bar the actual possession, which I don't agree with
- and the CGI overload).

Any votes?

Sarah

Napoleon and Illya were together it's nice that he was OK with that (something

I think being a ghost might give him a little more insight into life. This
story is set somewhere around 3 yrs. after his death. And we never saw either
in the show ever show any feelings and or opinions about this.

London always struck me is being a bit more open.. Well. mostly.

I didn't let it be to obvious.. I didn't do that in my other uncle fics.

<< I did notice some typos, >>

I would like it if you could maybe help me out back pointing them out. I did
the best I could. I second proofer is always nice to have. :)

<< and I was confused at first as to where Jeff and Marty were -- >>

Really. Hm. I will look over the that part and see if it needs a little re
writing.

<< I thought at first they were spying on I&N, but later they were obviously in
the same room. >>

Ah!.. So it was clear very quickly then,

<< Also, if I&N walked right into Jeff's apartment or whatever, I don't think I
would attack N in front of strangers. >>

That was not Jeff's apt. I thought it was clear it was N&I's hotel room. Oh
dear. I will recheck that bit too.

<< OTOH -- I loved the interaction of all FOUR characters (something difficult
to do in crossovers) and I really wanted to see them solve the case. >>

It was very easy for me to write them. I could see them in my mind clearly and
it was one of those things where they were kind of telling me what they wanted
to do and say.

As to the case. I still have to wrok that out. This SS came very fast. It
really was like it wrote itself. But you write so you know how that can happen.

<< You said that you wanted Illya to also see Marty? >>

That is waht I'd like to see happen by the end.

<< Maybe Napoleon is captured by Thrush, and Marty appears to him, and N asks
him to tell Illya -- to get Illya to rescue him. >>

That could be good. And to make it Illya Marty must ttry to contact. Jeff is
grabbed with Nappy.

<< Marty could either tell Jeff who would in turn try to convince Illya where
to go to rescue N. Maybe Illya wouldn't believe Jeff -- there could be evidence
left at the scene of N's kidnapping that he was held somewhere else, maybe
Marty could then somehow appear to I? >>

Maybe Jeff isn't taken when Nap is. But soon after. Leaving Illya still not
really convinced to try and get Marty to help him. Marty would use his ghostly
pwoers to direct and indocate tO I where to go and what to look for. But still
not be able to be seen.

These are good ideas to think about.

<< I don't know... But fascinating start! And great interaction, bet all the
characters. >>

Like I said. It was easy. That is how my brain works I think. Once I can get
the 'feel' of a character and there world. It's like they then become part of
me.

That is I think why I can write for so many diffarant fandoms. Once their a
part of me. They stay a part me.

I just ordered it directly from the Time-Life website (well, I actually
had to call them, because their ordering site/page was down), I just
checked and the price is; $249.95 which sounds about right. I pretty
sure that's what I paid. The only coupon I got was a free shipping one.

What are groups Channel D or M? I have found Ellen's site (see below,
I'm working on a DVD review for her - a condensed, combined, cleaned-up,
more professional-looking version of the six on my blog).
I've been looking through all the various UNCLE websites I can find
tho', and reading a lot of on-line fanfic.
I also *really* want a copy of Cindy's dissertation, even if I have to
get it through some sort of dissertation agency or local university. (I
have a master's in Museum Studies/Anthropology and a second in IT
Management, and I'm currently teaaching IT at a tech school. But, in
some ways, I'm kinda' thinking about looking into a multi-discliplinary
Ph.d which would included TV/Film/media and cultural studies as well as
some sort of IT tie-in. My first thesis was on the on-line fan
community, focusing on listservs (the fore-runner of Yahoo Groups). My
second was on Linux and education.)

Re -- my blog -- you said, "hm"? Did you get a chance to look at it?
Like it/hate it? I know the blog is really unfocused, but I signed-up
at Live-Journal originally just so I could join various fanfic and info
communities and post responses/reviews. Since I originally opened the
account, I've sorta' started to use it like my own personal website, but
I'm still a livejournal novice, so it's not real organized.

Chan D???? No -- could you send me the info? (private e-mail is fine)

Re: the DVDs and extras. Well, I *did* manage to wait, not skip ahead,
and watch all four seasons, in order, and then the extras (watching the
extras on each individual season set with that season). I LOVED season
four!!!! It really makes me wonder what would have happened if UNCLE
had managed to finish out that season and do one more. I also like
season 1 alot, tho' there isn't enough of David McCallum (not that I
dislike Vaughn -- he's great too! And very, very good-looking. I just
think the series works a lot better when Illya and Napoleon are together
on an assignment. And, I don't mean "together" like in y'know,
"together", but just *both* of them working together as partners.

Re: Last disc in set are extras -- Yeah, I know -- wasn't that clear in
my post?

Get Smart is a brilliant set!!! And I love the phone-box design. I do
NOT like the inner packaging of each season (DVDs should NEVER be
stacked, it can scratch the surface and ruin the DVD). I also hate the
acetate (clear plastic) cover you have to pull up to open the cardboard
case. I just put the DVDs in slim-line cases yesterday (luckily the
slim-line cases fit IN the phone booth!!!) I'm watching *Get Smart*
much slower, and occasionally skipping ahead, but so far -- the
restoration work actually seems superior to UNCLE. I haven't watched
any extras yet, but they look awesome!

Can you send me the details on the *Blake's 7* set you have? I have
series 1 and 2, direct from the UK (PAL, R2) and from what I remember,
not a whole lot of special features.
And, I don't know if you're familiar with it, but I also have all four
"season" sets of *The Professionals*. Awesome, awesome series. Not a
whole lot of special features, but considering not only how fun the show
is to watch, but the really, really good writing... needless to say,
it's something I pull out and watch over and over (which I suspect will
happen with UNCLE, once I get caught-up with all my summer DVDs, not to
mention my teaching stuff).

RE: Tapes -- Hey, first one to ask can have 'em. Like I said - not in
the best shape, and they are VHS, NTSC, first and second-gen tapes (so
not the best quality), and I don't have everything, but if you want a
taste of the show, they are yous for the asking.
First season, I have *all* of it, second gen. (These are b/w eps.)
I also have a pro copy of "The Project Strigas Affair" (guest-starring
William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy) and "The Never Never Affair"
(guest-starring Barbara Feldon).  I think it's a single tape.

Take care,

Ok ladies.. And gents. Here for your approval. Is my short story.

To start off. THO I write light/soft slash concerning Nappy and Illya. There is
only the tinyest hint here. Really.

Ok. I was thinking that naps ability to see and hear Marty was brought on from
a prior event. The still loose background for this story is I was thinking. Nap
is exposed to a gas or drug. Or maybe just one really bad knock on the noggen.

They are sent to London to follow up on a case. The reason Jeff gets involved i
was thinking was that 'perhaps' while on a case he stumpbes on to a Thrushie
plot.

Well when agents arrive in London and meet up with Jeff {and Marty}. Right.
Guess who can see who and then after having it all explaned to him by J&M..
Tries 'badly' to had this interesting situation from Illya. Whom is not fooled.

This best explanes that scene.

I hadn't thought out any more but that something much later to happen to allow
Illya to also be able to see and hear Marty..

The story was written a while back. i forgot to add the start date when i wrote
this. But I posted it on MFUfic shorty after writing this. I can backtrack from
the message area of that group. It's on my rhfic group too. About the same
time.

If anyone remebers the date.. Tell me world you.. Thanks.

OK here's the story. Enjoy and do tell me what yopu think and any ideas you
might have.

Collins thank you..:)>

"The Three Men & A Ghost Affair"
By April dancer aka Cathryn L.V. Collins

A scene from an up-coming 'possable longer' MFU/R&H-D {1969} crossover FanFic

~~~
    Jeff was sitting at the table between the second bed and the window. Marty
was standing beside him. They watched silently as Illya and Napoleon entered
the hotel suite.
    Illya stood waiting till Napoleon had closed and locked the door. He'd only
taken 5 or maybe 6 steps away from the door, when Illya suddenly in one fluid
motion, pounced on his unsuspecting and thoroughly startled partner, grabbing
him and forcefully penning him up against the nearest section of unused wall
space where he held him firmly in place.
    The blonde looked him squarely in the face..
   "Alright Napoleon," he said in a deadly calm voice. the icy blue eyes
narrowed. "You are 'now' going to tell me just what the hell is wrong with
you.." Illya's tone was crystal. He wanted answers, and he wanted them now.
    Napoleon looked stunned. It was a very rare thing to see his friend and
partner behave like this. and with him. Especially with him. Solo had learned
sometime ago, that it did not pay to get on his Russian friend'n'lovers bad
side. Many of those who did were now as deceased is Marty Hopkirk.
    At Illya's action, Jeff had started to stand, but a quick look from the
Russian agent forced him back down.
   "What's he up to Jeff?" Marty said in an astonished voice.
   "What.?!" Jeff gestured with his head as he looked at Marty, then back to the
two UNCLE agents. "Mr Kuryakin over there thinks his partner's gone barmy." he
said.
   "Barmy, why?" asked Marty.
   "For the same reasons Jeannie though I was after you died.." Jeff said in an
almost comical voice. "And it's times like these when I think I just very well
might be." he added more for himself then for Marty.
    A hurt look crossed Marty's face..
   "Oh, I get it." he nodded. "Because up to now, only you have been the only
person who could hear or see me. Most of the time that is."
    Marty walked over and stood behind Illya.. He looked back at Jeff.
    "And now Illya thinks Napoleon his gone loony on him.."
    'Y'think?!' Napoleon thought as he looked at Marty over Illya's shoulder..
    Napoleon refocused on his partner's face.
   "Illya, I don't know what your talking about.. There's nothing wrong with
me.." 'That a good stiff drink wouldn't help..' he added silently to himself.
Napoleon wondered just how many times Private Detective Jeffery Randall had
wondered the same thing..
    Illya was not convinced.
   "Napasha" he said coolly. "I don't believe you. You have been acting 'very'
strangely all day.." Illya shot a look back at Jeff.
    The expression on his face was telling Jeff that he thought the PI might
also be insane. And now whatever was wrong with the British PI., might well now
be effecting his American partner, friend and lover.
   "This rather peculiar behavior started shortly after we arrived in London and
we met Mr. Randall. And he has been acting in a similar manner to yours."
Illya's brows raised slightly as his eyes sharpened their icy gaze upon his
restrained partner. "Are you still going to try and tell me that there is
'nothing' wrong with you.?" he allowed a telling thin smile to show for
Napoleon's benefit.
    That made napoleon wince.
    Then leading in a little closer to his partner, Illya added in a slightly
more softer and telling voice.
   "Have you forgotten Polya, ..  I know when you lie to me."
    That last phrase and Illya's thin smile and tone that came with it made
Napoleon feel more unnerved. They'd been meant too. There was now no doubt in
the older dark American agent's mind that the younger blonde Russian agent was
in full command of this situation. That only added to Napoleon's uneasiness.
    He forced himself to meet his friends steely cool gaze.
   "I_I am telling you the truth Illiushka. I am alright. Really.." Napoleon
answered him timidly.
    Jeff slowly started to stand, Illya didn't turn to look at him this time.
'So good, so far' Jeff thought to himself.
    Marty had taken note of his partners movement, and walked back over to stand
before him.
   "Jeff, you have to tell him the truth. The whole thing, now." Marty said
flatly.
    Marty looked back at Illya.
   "It's the only thing left to do Jeff."
    Jeff frowned at his otherworldly partner in half disbelief.
   "Your kidding Marty.. Right?"
    Marty shook his head.
   "No I'm not. Tell Illya the truth about me. For Napoleon's sake. You have to
do it. Now!"
    Jeff had to fight to keep the snicker from coming out. But he knew Marty was
right..Dead right.
    But how do you even start to explain to a clearly overly logical, clinically
thinking spy that Marty Hopkirk, dead for over two yrs. Was there in that room
with them now. Napoleon Solo could see him. Why? Well, that question was still
waiting to be answered..later. But even now the American agent was beginning to
wonder if he wasn't loosing it. Or so Jeff could only surmize.
    Jeff knew 'and' remembered that feeling himself. All to well.
    Napoleon nodded to Marty.
   "Jeff, Marty's right. You have to tell him. Even if he doesn't believe you."
he said not taking his eyes off his lyubovenka. "Just tell him...please?"
   "Tell me what? I won't believe what? And who is this Marty..?" Illya
demanded. What the hell were they both talking about. He was finding it
increasingly harder to keep his temper under control.
   "I'm Marty, Marty Hopkirk!" the ghost piped in indignantly even tho he knew
damn well the Russian blond agent couldn't hear him..
   "Marty Hopkirk is..was my partner." Jeff began.
    Illya looked at Jeff Randall coolly..
   "Your partner Martin Hopkirk, was killed two yrs. ago My Randall, I read the
file. A hit and run."
   "Martin? No one ever called me that, not even my Mum. Martin. I hate being
called Martin!" An annoyed Marty half shouted through gritted teeth.
   "He was murdered to be precise .. I solved his case. We solved his case." he
corrected himself. Jeff knew that sounded daft, but it was the honest truth.
"Oh and he hates it when anyone calls his Martin. Call him Marty." Jeff added
for his mostly unseen partner.
   "Thank you." Marty added.
    Illya's expression stayed even. This English PI was unquestionably teetering
on the edge of insanity.
   "How did he help you, form his grave? Leave you a nice little note with his
killers name written on it?"
    Marty snorted.
    Jeff ignored his white garbed mate.. He turned his attentions back to
telling the Russian UNCLE agnet his story.
   "No. We solved it together. Him and me. You see Illya.. he.. um... sort of
choose to haunt me after he was killed to. well, to solve his murder and
apprehend his killers.. We had this female client. She hired our agency to
follow her husband. Marty was working on another case, so I looked after the
case. I followed the husband and found out he was seeing another woman.  She
must have told him the night that she had the goods on him. I had gaven her all
the photo's I'd taken of the two of them. He, the husband hired someone to
murder her and then he later he must have thought Marty had somehow caught on
to him.. He'd gone to see her the day she was murdered. I had to go out of town
that day."
   "I did find something." Marty interjected.
   "..so he hired the same people to murder Marty. But he, Marty I mean,
couldn't rest until the killers was caught."
    Jeff wondered why he was trying to explain it all. It really did make him
sound like he was, or had gone right daft. But again, it really was all the
honest to god truth. Even if it did make him sound crazy...
    Jeff want on.
   "But .. then he ..  well, couldn't get back in to his grave you see... There
was this rune thing,. and he well, he'd stayed out of it past dawn...helping me
to stop the killers..then Umm?? it was too late.. His grave rejected him. And
now Marty and I still work together..And that's why he's, a, here... now. Marty
is here in the room I mean. We're still a team.. A damn good one too, as a
matter of fact." Jeff added with a note of pride showing in his voice.
    This made Marty smile and he stood a little tailer echoing the pride in his
partner's last statment.
    It was all the truth, But even to Jeff as he had been explaining it..knew
that it all sounded like he was crackers..
   "It's all true Illya.. Every last word of it..It sounds crazy, I know.. But
it's the god's own truth."
    The incredulous look on Illay's face told all three of them what he was
thinking.
    Rubbish. He had not believe any of it..
    Jeff heaved a small sign as he closed his eyes.
   "I told you Marty.. I told you. He wouldn't believe it. So now what??"
    All the ghost could do was shrug his shoulders and frown.
   "Sorry Jeff, I though you explained it all quite nicely too. I rather fancied
that last bit."
    A light of inspiration dawned in Marty's sharp brown eyes.
    Marty snapped his fingers..
   "I have it! Let me have a go at it Jeff. I'll convince him I'm real and not
just a figment of your's and Napoleon's fevered imagination."
    Jeff shook his head as he blow out a small breath.
   "Why not." he said. "Alright Marty, you have a try then ay?." Jeff said
waving a hand at him, he turned and sat back down in the dark green cloth
covered chair back by the table. 'This should be interesting, or at leased
entertaining.' he told himself as he got comfortable.
    Illya looked hard at the PI.. The man WAS insane..he had to be.
   "Mr. Randall? I think you require immediate professional help." Illya told
the man.
    The PI laughed.
   "You wouldn't be the first person to suggest that mate. Not by a long shot."
Jeff replied evening half surpressing a laugh.
    Napoleon, who had been mutely listening to all this now  spoke up..
   "Umm..? Illya, do you mind? I'm getting a bit of a cramp standing pinned like
this."
    Illya's answer was to put a little more pressure with the arm that was
penning his partner to the wall. Illya knew he wasn't really hurting his
friend, much. He was just restraining him enough to make him suitably
uncomfortable. It was working. Napoleon was very uncomfortable.
    Marty walked over to one of the lamps, and rubbed his hands together.
   "Alright, here goes." he stared at it, his face stiffed with full
concentration. Than the lamp turned on. It flicked 3 or 4 times, then it was
dark once more.
    Jeff and Napoleon looked at it then back at Illya to try and gage his
reaction.
    Illya looked at the lamp, but than shook his head.
    He was clearly unimpressed.
    Marty made a face, 'damn'. OK, he would try something more noticeable. He
walked over to a painting of a bowl of fruit hanging on the wall. Marty stared
at in for a moment, made a small movement with his hand ... and the painting
raised off it's hook and fell to the floor with a loud clatter.
    This got the Russian's attention.
    Illya loosened his hold on his partner. Napoleon took the appreciated
opportunity to take a few less unfettered breaths. But other then that, he
didn't try to remove himself from his friends hold. Better he knew to allow the
blonde to release him. When he was good and ready too, that is. An angered
Illya could hurt you. Even 'if' he did love you.
    Marty looked around the room. What else should he try? A devilish smile
appeared on his youthful, boyish fact. He walked over to one of the beds. Marty
rubbed his hands together again and took a breath. Or whatever passed for one
when you were dead. In a few seconds the bedspread was pulled back, the pillows
flue off the bed, one at a time .. like fluffy missiles. One bounced off of
Illya, the other just missed hitting Jeff.
   "Marty! Easy ay?"
    The ghost looked embarrassed.
   "Oh, Sorry Jeff. My aim was a bit off there."
    Illya released his hold on Napoleon and stalked over to examine the bed.
This was all very odd he was telling himself.
    But Marty was not done with it or Illya quite yet. Marty blew out another
breath and made a whooshing motion with his arms. Of course, Illya couldn't
hear nor see what Marty was doing, but he could see the blankets and top sheet
peel off the bed and come flying over him. Then odiously, he saw nothing.
    Napoleon heard muffled, but all to familiar Russian curses coming from the
walking mound of bed clothes.
    Jeff could not stifle his laughter.
   "Well,.. Marty.. I think you might have just done it." {another short spirt
of laughter) "You have either convinced him, or he is really going to be mad
when he's out from under."
    Napoleon chuckled
   "I think both. We better get him out before he really gets pissed off."
Napoleon said as he rushed to the aid of his buried lover. Napoleon slowly help
his friend untangle himself from the lascivious linens. Jeff had risen and
walked over to help.
    Marty meanwhile, stood silently by with his hands on his hips as he watched
Napoleon and Jeff help to extricate the miffed Russian from the bedding. He was
feeling quite proud of himself. Illya would have to believe in him now.
Based on what I've read here and elsewhere, I'd love to see these
first three-four seasons/series of "Rentaghost". As a matter of fact,
I looked up "Rentaghost" on YouTube last night, and immediately found
bits and pieces from the pre and post-pantomime horse eras. From
just those little snippets, I could tell a HUGE difference in show
quality...for example, the pre-PH theme was/is actually very well
done and 'cute' in a pleasant way. The post-PH theme on the other
hand was/is a bit too saccharine and 'children's show'-ish for its
own good...and one cannot help but get the impression that that and
the PH, among other things, were because of possible complaints about
the show's rather dark thematics at times in its first seasons/
series. Based on what Richard has said, I wonder...
I  remember Rentaghost! Sadly, only the 'pantomime horse' episodes, and
Speaking of ghosts, do you remember 'So Haunt Me'? I vaguely  recall
watching this, too - a Jewish woman haunting a family home. I would  love
to see that again.
Sarah
Only saw a half episode of that.
I seem to remember that there were three or four good series of rentaghost,
then a special called "Rentasanta" brought out the pantomime horse and the
downward spiral:
