Hi, all

It's been a while since I posted here...!

A couple of years ago I wrote several Avengers short stories and put
them up on fanfiction.net.

Now I've collected them all into a free, illustrated 207-page PDF:

http://thethunderchild.com/TwoSuchPeople

1. Alpha Omega, or The Transformed Man
John Steed's character changed markedly from his teamwork with Cathy
Gale to the subsequent team-up with Emma Peel. This story attempts
to explain that transformation. It includes a re-written version
of "The Murder Market," featuring Cathy Gale and additional,
explanatory scenes.

2. The Steed Identity
John Steed loses his memory, and believes that he and Mrs. Peel are
heartless assassins.

3. Do Not Forsake Me
Steed's thoughts as Emma Peel leaves him at the end of "Forget-Me-
Knot".

4. Who's Who?
Patrick Macnee is busy filming the episode "Who's Who" when an
accident occurs and he finds himself transported into the real world
of The Avengers.

5. White Christmas
Steed and Mrs. Peel pause for refreshment on their way back to
London from the "Too Many Christmas Trees" adventure.

6. Aftermath
An alternate view of Mrs. Peel's reaction to Steed's method of
destroying the man-eater of Surrey Green.

7. The Howliween
John Steed and Emma Peel travel to America, where Steed transforms
into a wolf.

8. Sole Remedy
A bit of Grand Guignol in the French countryside.

9. Requiem For A Lightweight
An assassin on his last mission matches wits with John Steed and
Emma Peel.

For those who may not have noticed, BBC America is showing the
Avengers again. It's on Mondays at 8:00PM CST, and again at 1:00AM
Tuesday morning.

It looks like they're jumping around a bit on what they're showing.
Tonight's episode is supposed to be "Death's Door", last week it
was "Who's Who???" and the week before it was "The Hidden Tiger."
Hopefully they'll show all the color Emma Peel shows and then keep
going and show all the Tara King show too.

Thanks for the compliments! I appreciate them greatly!

The latest news is that I finally found a domain renewal deal that
was within my ultra meager budget, so quitequitefantastic.com is
still my domain despite it being down. However, I'm running into
problems changing from Network Solutions to Yahoo! Domains.

Hopefully, when some more money comes pouring in, I can get the site
back up. In order to survive this year, I may need to put
a 'contribute button' on the site to keep it running. I'm a student
right now as I restart my career completely, so money is extremely
tight.

As a sort of informal poll, how many of you would be willing to
contribute a small amount occasionally to keep the site running? Even
a dollar would be helpful if enough people helped out. It's ok if you
don't consider the site worth it. There are others sites, but I would
like to know before I invest a lot more time in it.

Mind you, if money started flowing in, I'd be inspired to create a
lot more material, maybe some new articles, photos, etc.

Just a thought. Let me know if interested!

Michael

I'm very sorry to hear that the website has been taken down. It
was my favorite Avengers website, and I used it frequently. I was
just trying to use it, and noticed it wasn't coming up.

Ouch, I'm sorry. I really did enjoy the website, especially as of
late, but...dang.

If you want, maybe you can open up a blog and reexamine the show from
the beginning again. It's worth a go.

What's happening is that I can no longer afford to keep the website
running. I'm flat broke and haven't had a job for a year and a half. As
I said in my FAQ update, unless the site starts earning at least enough
money to pay for the regular internet fees, it'll just have to
sacrificed until my financial life is restored to something akin to
normality. It didn't do so (earning just under $9 since Jan), so when
the rights to the domain name lapsed, I found myself without the cash
to renew.

I loved the update too, but life has not been kind to me nor the site
of late. The update was a last dash attempt to keep things running. If
the money is miraculously forthcoming in the next few weeks maybe the
site will be back. Otherwise, I think I will simply close it forever
and move on.

that it's pending renewal or deletion. What's up with that?

I have just joined this group.

I have been an Avengers fan since the Emma Peel b/w series, and have
most of the episodes, on video tape.

I've heard nothing of Diana Rigg for years - in fact since her
compelling performance in "Mother Love". I was delighted, therefore,
to see an ad. on the London tube, yesterday, for a play called
Honour, presently showing at Wyndham's Theatre, and starring Diana
and the excellent Martin Jarvis. It's on until May, so I will book-
up, shortly. Just wondering whether any other members have seen the
play, and if so, what you thought of it? Also, I was wondering what
Diana has been doing all these years. I never hear about her in the
media, or see her on programmes such as Parkinson. Perhaps members
could enlighten me? Looking forward to my membership, and having
dialogue with other Avengers fans.

Regards

Geoff.

Apologies to the
rest of the group for getting off on this tangent. Now, back to our
program.....

"Mrs. Peel, We're Needed" etc.

Vickie,

Three days a week is better than no days a week. I'd be happy to tell
you, but my company really doesn't hire on a regular basis.

They borrow people from other departments who may not be very busy at
the moment, and get them to do the work until their own departments
need them back again.

There could be many reasons your husband's company is "dragging their
feet" about hiring your husband. Budget crunch, someone else wants to
use that money for another purpose, someone isn't convinced your
husband is qualified...etc. He needs to ask and try to find out what
the holdup is, in an open and polite manner.

He needs to emphasize to them (1) how much he likes working there, (2)
that he needs full-time work (don't we all), and (3) if he's stuck
with part-time work, (4) he may be forced to make other arrangements.

This could also be just plain business craziness. We're all doing the
work of three people now. His business may simply be putting out
larger fires.

Hey, Craig, my husband is in IT, too, and he was unemployed longer than you.
He's now
working three days a week for a business that told him that they would make him
full-
time, but they've been dragging their feet on it. If you'd be willing to tell
me where you
finally found your job, and if they have any other openings, I could pass that
info on to
him. Thanks so much!

Best of luck in the job search, Vickie.

I was looking for an IT job in 2002 after the Internet bubble burst. I
went without work for a whole year. That was lousy.

You should have it much easier as the economy is booming again. What
kind of job are you looking for?

Thanks very much for all of the suggestions, Craig. I'll have to see what I can
do.
Actually, I may need to put this on the "back burner" for now, as I'm looking
for a job.
Thanks for all of the practical suggestions, though.

I would think any Philly Avengers group would be TINY. There are fans
aplenty, but are avid fans like us.

Fewer still would be able make time in already crowded, hectic
schedules to physically meet with each other. As for myself, I have to
steal time from myself just to read the email from my Yahoo groups.

If you want to, form a Yahoo group called, Metro PA Avengers Fans (or
something along those lines). Make it announcement only at first,
perhaps. Give out any BBCA schedules when they're showing The Avengers
here. Later on, open the forum up to moderated participation. Gotta
keep out the spammers. See how many join up and then see how many
actually participate.

Don't get your hopes up too high. One of my long-term Avengers groups
just closed because the founder grew disillusioned at the the lack of
active participation.

I emailed, saying we chime in when we can, but life's busy these days.
She was not swayed and shut the group down. Pity, too. It was a nice
group.

I don't think you understand. The GROUP isn't being reactivated,
that's been activated all along if you can believe it. My WEBSITE on
the Avengers has been UPDATED.
http://www.quitequitefantastic.com/Avengers/main.html. Please visit!

As for Avengers fans in Philadelphia, I have no idea as I live in
Atlanta. You'll just have to keep asking and checking around.
Eventually someone will come by and say something.

Hello everyone!
Your friendly moderator (of The Quite Quite Fantastic Avengers Fan
Club) here. After many years of dormancy due to
personal reasons, I've reactivated and updated my semi-official
Avengers review and information website - The Quite Quite Fantastic
Avengers Website, Ltd!

Please have a look when you get the opportunity. And don't forget to
buy the nice new shiny DVDs that are due out at any moment now through
the website so I can actually afford to keep it running!

Thank you and Enjoy!

Hello, all. Just wondering if any of you guys (or gals) live near Philadelphia,
PA? It would be
nice if my husband and I could confer, converse, and hob-nob with fellow
Avengers fans.

Thanks,

Hi Guys

So glad to have found a message board for the Agengers. I am a newfan,
after catching a couple of episodes recently on BBC4 in the UK. Can't
believe they stopped so abruptly tho'... Does anyone know if they are
being aired on another TV channel? With all those Sky TV channels,
you'd think someone would have had the sense to devote a channel to
the Avengers.

"All Steed, All The Time"

Anyhoo, any news of upcoming episodes would be most welcome.

  Hi Joe,

I am Jorge and am new here. Think i can be of help. The

episode may be : Stay Tuned; or another called :"The forget-me-

Knot".

I share your same "scientific"b interest.

It's not the Avengers, it's a little fantasy story, but read it anyway! Please!

The January issue of The Thunder Child is now on line.

Doctor Who - photos from Conventions in Chicago, 1983 and 1985, including (on
page 2) the photo that got Colin Baker fired. (Well, not really, but it was all
part and parcel of why Lew Grade decided to let him go.)

i finely found out what kind of car Emma had, and it's now my new fantasy
car i would like to have :>)

it was a Lotus Elan S2, i like the blue one from season 5, even thought
the one from 4 was just a different color.

I didn't know she had mad an appearance in an episode of The New
Avengers, but then it's been forever since i have seen and episode of
that series, and don't really remember it to much.

Don't want to poach other groups members, but as you might have noticed, Gary,
nobody posts here.

Well, nobody's recently been posting on my avengers yahoo list, Ransack, but
we will start if we get some new members!

   check it out!

Hi all I'm new to this list and decided to say hi

I have just stared watching the show again and started on season 5, manly
because Emma peel the best
and only Steed partner. I have to keep an eye out for the DVD's because
I'm missing quite a few episodes from season 4-5 the Emma years.
