I recommend the following Taras:
Split! - A Jekyll and Hyde spin by Brian Clemens with no mother.
Get-A-Way - One of Philip Levene's few contributions to Tara, and no
mother.
Bizarre - Another quality Brian Clemens script and mother only appears
in the tag.
Other episodes without mother (of varying quality) are :
Invasion of the Earthmen (okay but no charm to it)
Curious Case of the Countless Clues (a Philip Levene story)
My Wildest Dream (a good one, and I think Levene's final script)
Whoever Shot Poor George Oblique Stroke XR40
Have Guns ... Will Haggle
Look, Stop Me If You've Heard This One, But There Were Two of These Fellas
The Morning After (I remember this one being pretty good)
Thingumajig
Legacy of Death
Take-Over
and
Game
Of the Mother episodes I still recommend
The Interrogators (Christopher Lee guest stars)
Super Secret Cypher Snatch
They Keep Killing Steed
False Witness (a bit silly at times but fun)
All Done With Mirrors (despite Steed's small role)
Wish You Were Here
and
a few others I can't remember off my head.
