Hey! Probably like all of you, I just LOVED
Popular when it premiered!! I think it is the BEST show!
DC used to be my fave but not anymore! This is so
much better and entertaining! Don't u think? Me and my
friend say that it really relates to our school in LOTS
of kinda freaky ways! From the people, to the
football coaches name! Sounds weird but it's 1 letter away
from being the same. I'll shut up now but I just had
to tell you that!

Well most of you might be wondering where you've
seen some of the cast before, so here goes. Our fave
cheerleader wannabe Carmen was also in the WB series Zoe,
Duncan, Jack, and Jane as Breenie, she was also in the
movie Can't Hardly Wait, she had a small part as the
sheep woman. Josh was in the MTV show Undressed, he
played a jock who roomed with a gay guy. Lilly has guest
stared on Zoe, Duncan, Jack, and Jane as Angela in the
second episode, she also played the role of Chandler in
the movie She's All That. As for the cast's future
plans, I do know that Brooke is starring with Joshua
Jackson and Paul Walker in the college drama Skulls which
comes out in 2000.

I think it's a great idea to set up a chat time.
9 PM for those in the Eastern/Central time zone,
and then those in the Pacific time zone can have
theirs. And I totally agree with you about he reality of
Popular. It is one of, if not THE, most "realistic" (i put
that in quotes because of the little Ally McBeal-like
fantasy sequences that they throw in) portrayals of
highschool I have seen.

Brandon

Hey everyone! I'd just like to say that I know a
lot of other clubs have weekly chats, kinda like
meetings, to discuss whatever the topic of the club is.
Instead of posting what we think after the show, we could
have a chat, like, 9:00pm eastern...right after the
show. Then we could talk about it, you know? There IS a
chat room here but I never see anyone in it! I think
this show is gonna be a hit because it's so real, or
pretty much real anyway. I'm a huge fan of DC, but
unlike Dawson's, Popular doesn't have the kids talking
like they are 35! That's one thing I don't like about
DC...I mean, what high school kid talks like that?!
Anyway, tell me what you guys think of the whole chat
idea.

-Aquarius

I watched the first episode and I really loved the show, it's really like high
school, all the cliques really are true. I love Sam, she reminds me of myself. I
hope this show stays on a long time.

It's a great show isn't it? I'm a Dawson's fan,
but I'm now a Popular fan, too. I mean, I can relate.
My friend tried out for cheerleading (our group
aren't exactly popular... we're hanging somewhere at the
bottom) and we were SOO happy that she made it! Anyway,
this popular girl came up to me and was like, "Oh my
god, can you believe she made the team? She's so fat,"
I just wanted to slap her. It turns out that most
everyone on the team doesn't like her... but, I do know
that she's a really strong person, and that's she
proud of herself. She joined to prove that she could
make it, which she did, and because she was good at
it. And she will stay on the team because of that.

No, he didn't make one yet I don't think. He said
football, but he just said that to make everyone happt, I
think. And he didn't go to Brooke's party, which
probably hurt the brat's feelings, BU the gay music
teacher and the football coach were fighting over him. It
was a really stupid scene.

Sunscreen, thanks for the update. My husband
taped DC for me on Wed (it's a guilty pleasure of mine
as well) and accidentally taped 2 hours. I'm so
glad! But, I just watched it tonight and was crushed
when I found out the second episode was last night!
Did Josh make a decision yet? I'm dying to know. I
teach music so it's so cool to see them have the jock
decide between the two. I have to tell you though, that
in my school, the music department doesn't make
students choose, it's the sports coaches. They demand 5
days of practices or you don't play in the game. We
demand committment in some of our top groups, but only 1
day a week and the monthly or so performances.
Coaches need to back off some times.

Oh and my
favorite part about Josh trying out, is that although he
was a good singer, he wasn't perfect! How
realistic!

Drena (lovin' the "South Pacific" thing)

It's true that Nicole is indeed the "bitch" of
the show. But every show needs one, so I'm glad they
established it right away. I liked Josh and Sam was cool. I
feel really bad for Carmen and all girls like her. She
deserved to make that team!

Drena (Argh, why does
life have to be about a waistline?)

Josh,

You asked if the show would bomb
because it's a great show. I have to say... probably. The
only thing it has going for it is the fact that it
premiered after Dawson's. It might actually get a little
bit of a following from that. Of course, it's up
against Friends and Who's Line is It Anyway? But there
are no shows in that time slot for teens! So they
might have a new hit. And TV Guide hasn't said anything
about it yet. hmmm.

Drena (psyched there is
already a club for this show)

I'm a music teacher
so I have to say I was pretty impressed that the
football star stuck for himself and tried out for the
musical. Okay, so the show is a little farfetched (yeah
that would really happen in high school). :) But it's
got something good. I hope it at least makes it to
the end of the season.

Sure I will! Well Carmen was told by Brooke she
WAS the best cheerleader and Brooke told her she
didn't make it because she was fat, but she said it VERY
politely (it was a very dramatic scene, a tearjerker.)
Brooke then confessed she was anorexic and she said she
broke a rib when she sneezed (Exaggeration? truth? I
think truth.) Anyways, Josh got the lead in the play
and needs to decide and he and Brooke fought over it
the ENTIRE epi! Ummmm, Carmen and Harrison were mad
at Sam because she didn't talk to Brooke about
Carmen before the decision was made and Sam, Carmen,
Harrison, and that teeny cute girl went to Brooke's party
to tell her off. Then their parents burst in and
dropped the bomb.....they will be step-sisters.

I missed the first half hour of the show tonight.
I tried using the timer on my VCR for the first
time, and it didn't work. Dag it! But at least I saw
the important stuff. If anything important happened
during the first half, could someone please let me know.
Thanx. This show is so cool! Can't wait to see what the
ratings are.

well first off i should say how much these teen
drama's are a guilty pleasure of mine.. dawson's creek,
MSCL, felicity.. all of em(with the one exception of
buffy, i could never get into it) I saw this show last
night and fell in love, it's like it took all the
amazing points of these shows and put it into one. This
is so very believable to me, this was high school.
They don't try to make the 16 year olds talk like 40
year olds or any of that.. they are real. i loved it!

I really liked it...like, everyone watched it
last night is gonna watch it again tonight. Some
reviews said it was too sterotypical but these critics
are adults!...don't these people remember high
school? Cuz this show is sooo like my high school! I
don't know which was better last night - Dawson's or
this? They're both awesome

-Aquarius

I thought the show was incredible. It's kind of
like Ally McBeal meets Dawson's Creek with a dash of
Clueless thrown in to spice it up. I hope the ratings are
high enough for it to continue airing. When is it's
regular night going to be? They said next Wednesday would
be Roswell at 9 PM (which looks like another cool
show).

Later Brandon

I liked it! I am giving it a chance, like I think
anyone and everyone should before judging it. The one
thing I DID NOT like (but i am sure we were not
supposed to) was Brooke's friend, Nicole, I think her name
was. I hope the next time she is in that "Gwenyth" car
she crashes and dies, or better yet she can inhale
too much nailpolish remover and keel over dead in Bio
Lab. At any rate Carmen was my favorite too, followed
by Josh and then Samantha.

sniff sniff! I smell a new My So Called Life and
it's Popular! I just got done watching the new series
a few minutes ago, and WOW! I can't say enough
about it. The show is sharp and way more clever then
Dawson Creek ever though about being. It even comes
close to being as good as MSCL but still lacks a
certain sophistication that MSCL had.
Now I have a
question for everyone, Seeing it seems with all new shows
that are really well written and really well
performed, do you think the show will stay on the air? Or
will it bomb? Could it have the same faith as MSCL?
I'm going out on a limb here and saying it will
stay afloat considering it follows the very popular
Dawson's Creek.

josh

there was something special about it and by the end i
would say that it HAS to be the best new show this
