I! Im new too. I've been hooked since the
beginning also. I watch the reruns over and over on A & E
here in Kansas. Do you have a fav episode? I have
many, but I loved the one where Shelly could only sing.
Also the one where she met her daughter in the future.
I love all the characters, Id love to live
somewhere like that "where everybody knows your name",
hangin' at the brick, going to Maurice's fab parties,
shopping at Ruth ann's store. Oh well, back to reality.
C-ya, C.
i all! very excited to find this nx club. i
watched nx faithfully ever since it started as a summer
fill-in series. i knew from the pilot episode that i was
hooked! a few years ago i had the opportunity to visit
the filming site in <br>roslyn washington---it was an
ever so brief visit, but, the memories will stay with
me always!<br>can't say enough good things about
this show!!!<br>thankfully, we have A&E to continue
the show for all us folks who have nx running through
our veigns. looking forward to chats in this club
area. does anyone know if the fri nite mirc chats at
#the brick are still going on??? i'll have to check
that out! thanks for being here in Yahoo Clubs!
swear i have not been able to watch any shows
with regularity since northern exposure went off the
air. i was in love with the storyline and the
characters. hell i wanted to move there. but when they traded
joel for paul provenza. i knew the show was going to
go downhill. they should have kept it on monday
nights at ten. at least a and e picked them up. i still
get my fix.
aurice (Barry Corbin) was a guest at the 1997
Moosefest held in Roslyn, WA, in August of 1997. That must
be the one you are thinking of. We discuss
Moosefests past and present on the news group
alt.tv.northern-exp. I suspect that is what your Agent program found
for you. Check it out again - NX is still a lively
topic!<br><br>Pat
couple of years ago I use to goto a NX message
board I found through the Secret Agent program. It was
just after they had a Moosefest (I believe they called
it) and it was around this time of year.<br>This Fest
was put on by the actor who played Morrese
(spelling).<br>Does anybody know if it's still being held and
when?<br><br>Thanks,<br><br>TonyAlva@...
like Max Bob too, but I liked the Pilot by far
the best.<br><br>The show is quite like some shows
that came after Northern Exposure, trying to be like
NEXP. Remember "Going to Extremes"? Or ... there was
some other show with "Southern" in the name I think...
It was about a med school in the Bahamas.<br><br>I
liked all these shows, but they didn't last very long.
I suspected that Max Bob would not last either. It
also hasn't been on the air during the last 3
weeks.... has it been canceled already?<br><br>I liked
Picket Fences, but soon discovered the shows get
"heavy", and less quirky. I don't watch it now. I watched
"Due South", but it got so bad after the first few
shows that I can't stand it
anymore.<br><br>-AAron<br><a href=http://www.peanutbutterpizza.com/nexp

es! I saw that DS was the music man for this series. I am hoping that ABC
continues it and we will get to enjoy more of his musical expertise.<br><br>Pat
gave this show a try at your suggestion.
Definitely quirky. Felt a twinge of Twin Peaks in there. Did
you notice David Schwartz (NX music) did the music?
-- I noticed a few familiar passages. I may give it
another shot but can't say I've ever been much of a Beau
Bridges fan. I appreciate the alert however, as good
shows are hard to find.
his is a frequesntly asked (and answered)
question:<br>F. Where is Cicely?<br>An offshoot (and popular
disussion) is, where is Cicely? Nobody knows for sure-- it's
right next door to Springfield, USA. Like The Simpsons,
the producers and writers of NX have sprinkled enough
misleading clues that it cannot be pinpointed exactly. Some
include:<br>It's in the 63rd parallel, placing it in the main body
of the state. [Hello, I Love You]<br>You can travel
from Cicely to Cantwell on Route 8 (Ruth-Anne and Walt
did), which again places it in the main body of the
state. [Hello, I Love You]. And Route 6 also leads into
town [Una Volta in L'Inverno]<br>The men run naked out
to Highway 1 when the ice breaks [Spring
Break]<br>It's just across the border from Sixty Mile, in
Canada. [Northern Hospitality]<br>It is within a 75 mile
radius of 143 degrees W, 62 degrees N, according to the
ice-sculpture at Maurice's feast. [The Big Feast]<br>The
address on the post card that Joel sends to Maggie
is<br>Maggie O'Connell P.O. Box 86 Cicely, AK 99729<br>An
alert reader of the group notes that 99729 is the zip
code for Cantwell,AK.<br>It's north of the Arctic
Circle because they spend some days in complete darkness
[Northern Lights] and some days in complete light [Midnight
Sun]<br>It's south of the Arctic Circle because they don't
have permafrost. [Survival of the Species]<br>It's 40
air-minutes from Anchorage, the nearest hospital. (Joel tells
Shelly she'll be going there to deliver. [Baby Blues])
Maggie also receives her flight service briefings from
Anchorage.<br>It's 200 miles from the next nearest town. [Ill
Wind]<br>It's 200 miles from Sleetmute, and not too far from
Unalaklee.<br>It's 400 miles from Soldotna (the length of the drive
for the owner of "Rick" the dog.) [Animals R
Us]<br>It's 500 miles from Sourdough. [Spring Break]<br>It's
located along a river (or at least Roslyn, WA is), and is
1000 miles from Anchorage [Kaddish] (which of course,
means that Maggie's little Cessna 170 travels at 1500
miles an hour :-)<br>It's in the panhandle, because the
specific Indians mentioned are Pacific Northwest tribes
(Tlingit and Haida.)<br>It's in the panhandle portion that
runs along the coast next to Canada ("The cusp of the
new Alaskan Riviera" - premiere episode.) <br>At
least we know that it's on a major log truck route, and
there are paved roads nearby [premiere].
ver since I first caught an episode on the A&E
network in January I have been hooked. After seeing a few
episodes I started to wonder where exactly they were
supposed to be located. I pulled out my trusty Rand
McNally and went to work. After finding several towns
that have been mentioned numerous times on the show I
realized that either the shows creators randomly pick
names of Alaskan towns from the back of an atlas or
they couldn't read a map to save their lives. So far I
have located Sitka, Talkeetna, Sleetmute, Red Devil
and Homer. All were spoken of as if they were just
down the road. The most accurate info I have heard so
far is that Sleetmute was roughly 100 miles away. If
anyone else knows of any more town references please
post them. I would love to finally locate the place of
the semi-mythical sleepy hollow of Cicely. And I know
it's in Arrowhead County. Thanks for any help you can
give me.
like it so far. It has a totally different
brand of quirkiness, sometimes it seems a bit more
forced. But I like it so far. Makes me ssit down and
watch television -- not much else does that any
more.<br><br>Welcome onboard, BTW.<br><br>Pat
k i'm in now! i've got a whopping 8 units of cinema classes but i'm trying for
more...i miss roslyn and all of you (and the brick;-)) very much! when can we
all chat?<br>matthew
ave any of you seen Maximum Bob? Strange
characters, one person runs the whole town, a professional
outsider comes to town but remains despite how much they
want to leave. Is this show Northern Exposure part II?
If it is or it isn't it is at least as good as N.E.,
which is excellent.

h - And you need Java to run the chat. And
whatever you do, don't minimize a window while chatting or
trying to sign up -- that is the apparent glitch. Stay
with it or switch back and forth using the Win95
bottom bar (I have no idea what that is
called.)<br><br>Pat
ello fellow NX fans. Getting into this club was
tough (technically). But I made it in. Sorry I was not
able to get in to participate in last night's chat but
will try to get into the next one. When will that be?
ish I had answers to all these here questions.
If it is this hard for folks to get together here to
chat, heck, we will just IRC it! If this chat fails,
let's go to IRCnet, room #thebrick at
10:30pm.<br><br>Pat
mmmm.....My browser is Java enabled....when I
