SPOKANE -- It was like the opening scene from Northern Exposure, where a
moose leisurely strolls through the streets of Roslyn, though it wasn't
Roslyn - it was north Spokane.
Spokane Police were forced to stop traffic on a major north-south road while
they tried to corral a wayward moose Saturday morning.
The animal was first spotted around 11:00am near Shadle Park High School. It
then wandered through the neighborhood, crossing through streets and yards.
Around noon, the animal got close to North Maple Street, so police decided
to shut down the road at West Lacrosse Avenue while the moose crossed the
street.
As of 12:30pm, Police said they had called the Department of Fish and
Wildlife to come out and remove the animal. Agents with DFW came out and
tranquilized the moose and transported it back into the wild.
