For all the "Veronica Mars" fans that were excited about Kristen
Bell joining the cast of "Lost" for its upcoming season, it's time
to pack up the party favors and noisemakers.TV Guide's Michael
Ausiello is reporting that Bell -- who was reportedly joining the
cast last week -- turned down the role because she didn't want to
relocate to Hawaii where the hit ABC series is filmed.
In the original "Lost" casting report, two new roles that would
start as recurring and possibly move to regular were being offered
to both Bell and "Prison Break's" Peter Stormare. Bell was supposed
to play a character named Charlotte, a woman "in her late 20s,
attractive in a naturalistic and athletic way, precocious,
loquacious and funny."
Even when Ausiello first reported the news last week, he did qualify
it by saying that nothing had been signed, and there was still a
question on whether or not Bell would be interested in jumping back
into network television so soon after wrapping "Veronica Mars."
However, he said if it did happen, it would be the "casting coup of
the century."
That forces producers back to the drawing board in terms of casting
for the role of Charlotte, who is expected to appear as early as the
second episode of the fourth season.
"Lost" will begin airing an abbreviated version of its fourth season
in early 2008 on ABC.
