De-lurking for a moment (sorry for the mass posting, guys...)
About a week or so ago, I found out that my cousin Peter (in actuality my
godmother's nephew) is addicted to drugs. Peter's only 15, and I love him like a
brother. I'm terribly worried for him. We're *all* worried for him.
The court has ordered him to go to rehab for 28 days, but he refuses to go out
of teenage pride -- and possibly fear that he's a failure.
My mom and godmother are going to set up a phone conversation between myself and
Peter (which I encouraged), in the hopes that because we're closer in age (I
turned 19 last month), he'll be more inclined to listen to the voice of reason.
Please pray that I'll be able to say the right words that will get through to
him, and that he'll seek the help he needs.
I've also considered a way of showing Peter -- on a more concrete level -- that
we're concerned about him. A scrapbook (which I've unofficially dubbed "Peter's
Care Book") made up of handwritten letters from people with words of
encouragement. If you like this idea and want to participate, please e-mail me
at TreTone@... and I'll give you the few simple guidelines for the
letter and the snail mail addy to send it to.
