I was recently gifted with the complete Mulberry DVD 2-disc set and was very
pleased it contained a candid interview with Geraldine McEwan and Karl Howman.
She said she liked the unique script and it's fairy tale premise. She said the
first "season" had just been completed, so that would be about "92. Sadly the
final season was never filmed and we will never see the final days of "Miss
Farnaby".
Have the writers ever revealed how they planned the show to end?

I actually was searching for a copy of the mulberry theme song when i came to your site and joined.
Anyway to your question:
Unfortunately, the show ended abruptly after the second season, without any actual true ending of the series. The shows Producer/Director John Hobbs had fully intended upon there being a third and final season, to properly end the series so viewers would know what happened to Miss Farnaby as well as Bert and Alice, and of course Mulberry. But, according to Chris Nicolaides, one of the music writers for the series, apparently at BBC1 some new directors came on board, one of which stated that the show was, "not his cup of tea." Thus ended one of the most original and delightful of British Comedys. Even more unfortunate, it is not available on video and according to sources, there are no plans to make it available.

I also hoped the story would have eventually ended properly but its years late now :(

I started watching it on PBS and was surprised to learn on the internet
that the program had been cancelled about a year after it first aired. I
love this program so I cannot imagine why it would be cancelled and I
also wonder whether anyone has thought of making a movie to finish up
where it left of saying a couple of years had passed or something.
Anyways if you know why Mulberry was cancelled just let me know.
Well, if B & N have the set, perhaps I'll have to check there. Thanks for the heads up.

It is on my DVD wish list too, but it is becoming harder to find out there. I think I may have to put it to the top of my list. Barnes and noble still have it for sale....
All the best, Brenda
Email and AIM finally together. You've gotta check out free AOL Mail!
Glad to have you here Pat!
It is a bit slow going...but be patient....
I, like you, taped Mulberry of PBS. I don't think I ever would have
known what Guy Fawkes Day was if it wasn't for Mulberry. So I
guess you could say it has been a show that has been very
important to my Anglophile education :)

Hello!
I found your group last night while searching a bunch of my favorite
show's titles for yahoogroups lists. You see, the person behind Tv
Vote at http://richlabonte.net/tvvote
wanted as many fan forums and lists for shows on his polls as
possible, so I was researching them for him. I had added "Mulberry" to
the Nominations list about a year ago, I guess, if anyone is
interested. Rich is going to add links to show-specific lists and
forums to his site, so maybe he'll add this one too!
Anyway, about "Mulberry", I saw it years ago on PBS, and taped most
episodes, but have misplaced the tape since then. Now I see it's in
the BBC America catalog, and it's on my wish list of DVD titles!
I live in Colorado, USA, and work as a cataloger at an academic
library. I have a lot of shows I enjoy, ranging from science-fiction
and fantasy to the occasional espionage and western. I've written fan
fiction for print zines, mostly as a co-author with my best friend,
for about 15 years now.
Best,
Pat D.
I start this group with the full
realization that we will NOT be a extremely active group.
First post and I make a mistake...
We will be a calm little group....

Welcome to all that find us here. I start this group with the full
realization that we will be a extremely active group. It is difficult to
have a group about a canceled short lived show...but Mulberry
was so good I had to start one.
That being said, We will never be a group for those who expect
instant gratification...but we will be the place to deposit those
fanfictions and "what if" comments. Because what Mulberry fan
hasn't come up with an idea on how the series should have
continued! So join in. Use the files, polls ...anything. this is your
place for Mulberry!
All the best,
Brenda
