Why does the TAB button mean "send e-mail"? Anyway...

My name is Jim Whaley. I live in Greenfield, NY, I'm 15 years old and live
with my parents(duh). I've been a Mistie for a little over a year, and I'm
into drawing. The reason I like MST3K so much is that it's diferent from all
the other shows(and I'm not talking about the fact that it's two hours long).
It pokes fun at everything from Patrick Stewart to Star Trek to ISO 9001
Certification to pantiehose(or however you spell it).

Well I'm up for a bit of an introduction. My name is Mike "Nelson" Gulick.
I'm 20 and I live in Massachusetts, USA. I've been a MSTie ever since I
first saw it... and the first episode I ever saw was Mitchell. I like both
Mike and Joel as they both have their own qualities. Ever since around the
7th season, I've been doing a lot of trading and copying so that I now
have every episode available, including the KTMA episodes. Right now I'm
just trying to go after every possible link so I can get KTMA episodes
1,2,3, and the unaired Pilot. And I'm telling everyone this because I want
to know if anyone has these episodes. Thanks.

Introducing ourselves is actually a pretty good idea. Even though
I hate writing intros. They always either sound like a personal ad or
an AA meeting. But, I'm game, so here goes, I'll try for a cross
between the two.

My name is Kelly (in my sig, yeah I know) I'm 21 and live in NJ.
I own a pet sitting business (no jokes -- I've heard them all).
I've been a MSTie for years and will continue to be until I die.
I'm also one of those rare MSTies who actually likes Mike AND Joel.
No, I don't have a preference so don't ask. Anyway, I think that's
enough, like I said I'm not real big on intros but this is better then
nothing.

Not wishing to load up your mailbox even more than it is (?!), could people who
receive this mailing at least "put up their hands" so the rest of us know that
someone is out there? As far as I can see, there are only about four or five
Misties contributing to the group, but maybe many more are lurking.

Of course, there is a fair bit of activity in the Usenet arena, so maybe people
are all posted out!

I'll certainly check that out, thanks!

And thanks to Mike "Nelson" for his offer of help. In reply to his question, I'm
not as far away as NZ (depending on where he is, of course) and I'm in Guernsey
in the British Channel Islands (south of England, west of France).

I'm on my way to the Amazon site now! (Although the credit card is a bit

Thanks for the help, guys

If you'll kindly point your web browser to
http://www.geocities.com/TelevisionCity/4619/books.html , you'll find a
bunch of MST3K videos from the Comedy Central days for sale on my very
own website!
You'll be buying them from Amazon.com, which is a very reputable online
service (you've probably heard of them).
Several titles are available, and you can tell by the episode number if
it's Joel or Mike.
Anything BEFORE 513 (301, 303, 320, 424, 506, 507, 511, 512) or JOEL.
Any episodes after that (513, 518, 619, THE MOVIE) are MIKE.
I personally recommend 424 : MANOS : The Hands of Fate and 619 : Red
Zone Cuba.
Oh, and if you want to know how Joel escaped from the Satellite of Love
and Mike got shot up there, you'd want to get 512 : Mitchell.

Enjoy.

That all depends on the person you're trading with. Some people only
want MST stuff others will trade for other shows. Most people that I know
of (myself included) will copy tapes for you as long as you pay for the
postage and cost of the tapes.

Try http://www.mst3kinfo.com they have a list of tape traders on the site. I
also
trade tapes so you can contact me off list. Or you can try the newsgroups and
ask about trading there.

Hope this helps.

What sort of trades do people do? Cash? Other series? I'd love to see some of
the Joel series, or even some of the pre-SF Channel shows with Mike, but don't
know which ones to go for or who to approach.

Being isolated in the UK is one thing - but I'm stuck on a rock in the middle of
the channel, and nobody else I know over here watches the programme (apart from
my wife, and she doesn't have much choice!).

It's never easy for me to judge objectively any appearances by the Brains or the
'bots, drooling fanboy that I am. However, it was great to see them on a
nationally-televised program, on a major network.

I wonder how much was staged, though? Could someone actually not know that
Raymond Burr was in the original Godzilla? :-)

I would have to say that this might not be an altogether bad thing.
I think that a lot of their comedy lately hasn't always worked out very
well on the screen, although it probably read very funny on paper.
Some of the best material to come out of Season Eight is the Episode
Guide (posted on the web at http://www.scifi.com/mst3000/experiments/ ).
Also, Mary Jo Pehl and Bill Corbett are no Trace Beaulieu and Frank
Conniff, although I've grown used to Corbett's Crow.
But, when I watch my favorite episode of all time on tape, namely Red
Zone Cuba, boy do I ever miss Frank.

They are a rather talented bunch. I could see them doing:

1) a set of live-action parodies (a la their host segment sketches),

2) funny interviews with figures in SF literature and movies,

3) more programs making fun of current movies and television shows

These are my hopes. My fears are that they may be burning out, and want to do
more writing and less on-camera work.

The one thing I know for sure is that they'd never run out of material to MST.
There's more and more of it every day. :-)

All right, there hasn't been enough traffic on the MST3K list yet for my
taste, so I'm going to present a question for everybody and see what you
guys think.

Make sure that you respond to mst3k@onelist.com, not to me personally.

What do you think these other special projects are that Best Brains is
supposedly doing for SciFi Channel that prevents them from doing 22
shows of MST3K this season?
It seems to me that they already had extra time during season 8 to do
the Making of MST3K special, the Blockbuster Summer Whatever special,
and the Oscar special, and still put out 22 shows, so whatever it is, it
must be awfully time-consuming.
A whole new series, perhaps?

Thoughts?

I'm missing Deadly Bees right now.
My wife is watching "In & Out" instead, so I'll have to wait until 10:00
to watch it.
So, is it as good as Werewolf?
That was my favorite show since they've been on the SciFi Channel ....

Anybody there?
