Greetings!

As a writer, what is your relationship with Methos? Are you an
instrument through which he dictates his stories? Or do you create
his world? Etc.

Peace!

Greetings!

Here is something I have long pondered over.

For those of you who began writing about Methos before the Four
Horseman episodes, how did those episodes affect your stories, and
your relationship with your character?

Did you have premonitions that Methos had such secrets in his past,
before the episodes aired?

Peace!

Greetings!

I shall start a thread to get us all talking.

Those of you who write fanfiction, why do you write about Methos?
What made you decide to do this? How did it begin? What is your
purpose, what are your goals?

Those of you who are only readers, why do you read Methos fanfiction?
What draws you to this genre? What are you seeking?

Peace!

Greetings!

Welcome, all of you, to my new email list.

First, I'd like to apologise to you all. I started this list and then
disappeared for a week. That was quite impolite of me. But my life
gets so unexpectedly hectic at the worst of times, I really didn't
see it coming. In the future expect me to be here in bursts of much
posting, then completely absent for days on end. I have no control
over my timetable unfortunately.

Alright, I hope you all forgive me for not welcoming you and
clarifying things more promptly.

First, to take care of your questions: I've just changed this list to
"ages 17 and up", on the advice of one of the subscribers. Yes, this
list is slash friendly. Yes, this list welcomes the posting of
fanfiction. In regard to posting stories, please have "story" or
"fanfic" or something in the subject line. That's all I care about. I
don't care how many emails you divide the story into, what sort of
header you have, etc. Just do whatever you're comfortable with from
other lists.

Now, I'll indroduce myself. =)

I am Gulmaram. I'm currently a nurses' aid and a writer living in
Stevens Point, Wisconsin. I've lived many places and done many
things. I'll be dropping my nurses' aid job and moving to Appleton,
WI, this September if everything works out.

I have no kids, but I have seven cats and a dog. I am not married,
but I have a fiance.

I've been a "Highlander" fan since the fall of 1996. I've been a
fanfiction writer since early 1997. I've been... how can I explain
this phenomenon... "bonded" with Methos ever since mid 1997. The
fanfiction I write is mostly a series which fits in with the telly
series, called "The Series". It's on my web page. Since mid 1997,
Methos has been my "main character". I have a huge cast of my own as
well.

I'm on a great many email lists, both for Methos, for "Highlander",
for fantasy writing, for fiction writing, and for fanfiction writing.
But I've never come across a list exclusively focusing on the
particulars of writing fanfiction about Methos. So I created one.

Aside from my "Series", I do write slash. I haven't posted any
really. Well, actually, a friend archived a story for me that I wrote
for another email list. But it was written on a whim. I've struggled
with slash. I don't know why. I was almost triumphant once. I wrote
many stories, I edited and revised and polished them off. I had them
on a floppy disk. I was very happy with myself. I thought, "finally I
can join the wonderful world of slash writers!" But on one terrible
day, I put the disk into my computer, and the machine ate all the
stories. My backups on the hard drive were gone too. I swear, my
computer wanted to keep Methos and all those lusty boys to itself!
Since then, I haven't had the "soul" to put into any slash stories.
I'm trying, though.

I love to read slash. I print it off the internet and take it home,
and put it in a big pile in my closet. The pile is more than knee
high at the moment. I put the stories I've finished reading in a pile
under my dresser. I began this odd practise earlier this year. So
far, the pile under my dresser is just above ankle-high.

Another thing I love is the web art that goes with slash stories.
Eng's art is beautiful. If any of you want to say something special
to a Methos fan, I recommend you go to the greeting card service at
the "Highlander Quill Club" website. Ahhhhh!

I've just begun, two weeks ago, my own web art. I'm not good at it as
of yet, unfortunately. But I think if I get more time to practise,
I'll improve.

Alright, enough for my introduction. Greetings to all of you, a warm
welcome to all of you, I hope you'll enjoy yourselves here.

Peace!

Hello All!!

I'm new to the list and would like to say a Big Warm Hello!!
A little intro about me'self... I'm 26, single and working
in a Process Control company. I'm quite new into Methos and
the Highlander world. To tell the truth, I only got interested
becoz' of Methos and the first show I saw was the 2nd part of
Horseman. His character intrigued me and ever since then I
was watching Highlander faithfully. Thank goodness, the TV
channel plays reruns of Highlander every weekdays from 8-9pm,
and I was lucky enough to catch season 4 onwards. And I loved
Methos more since then & have to admit, Duncan kinda grew on
me as well.

Oh yah - I'm a slash reader as well, and slowly
am starting to write too. Just a little jotted notes here &
there in my little 'black' book and hope someday soon, I will
get it together and post it!

Anyway, just a little something from me for now!!

Take care all,
Lee ;)

'tilla, we live in several of the same universes, but for anyone else who

I'm Sandi, have been in HL fandom for a few years now, and I write HL
slash, as well as slash for X-files and Sentinel. Well, not that I've
written
*anything* lately. <g>.

Glad to be here, or anywhere Methos lives!

Sorry about not responding - I chose the digest format since I get tons of other
emails. The story sounds really neat and I've always been curious about where
Methos came from. I can't wait to see how you write it. I have a question -
where can I find your story series Attilla? It also sounds wonderful - as the
song says Love is many a splendid thing!!!

okay, let's see. I'm 'tilla (in case you hadn't guessed). I'm
female, married and the mother of two boys. Hopelessly out-numbered
in a house where I am the only *reader* of slash, never mind *writer*.
Highlander is my first and favorite fandom, although I'm starting to
fixate rather strongly on a certain pair of vampires (and *no*, I do
not mean Louis and Lestat or Nick and LaCroix).

     Hi all :-)
I'm new to the list so I thought I'd write a hello and ask for a couple
of
clarifications. My name is Marie. I work as a Systems Analyst in Dallas,
Texas. 30-something, chocoholic, unmarried, no kids, one dog. I've been a
Methos fan from the moment he first looked up from the floor at Duncan
McLeod in
'Methos'. I miss the show and eagerly read all fanfic I can get my hands on
(it's like finding new episodes <g>). I've written one short Methos piece,
but
haven't been brave enough yet to post it.

Now for the clarifications: Is this list for discussion only? Or will
fanfic be
published here as well? Also, what is the rating for this list?
(Children-friendly? Adult Only?) Just want to be sure I don't breach
etiquette
     :-)

     Let Friendship Thrive,
          Marie / chaos1@...

I'd also like clarification on that. I'm just finishing up my very first
Methos centered fanfic and who better to share it with than a bunch of
Methos
     addicts. :)

Personally I wouldn't toss the old guy out of my bedroom, but I'd prefer to
find Duncan there. I mean Methos is a cool character and all, but I'm into
tall, dark, and handsome (Just take a look at my hubby)

Well, I wouldn't toss *either* of them out - especially since they're
     so much *fun* together.

You know I thought of that too, but I'm trying to behave myself. I've been
fighting with a dark scene in this story and staying at least partially
serious is the only way I'm gonna pull it off.

For some reason, my Methos muse seems to think that he just can't play an
SOB anymore. I keep telling him it's just for one scene and I redeem him
well before the ending, but he's still fighting me.

Hey 'Tilla, aren't you the one who's been writing that series with the boys
where Duncan gets put in jail...several times?

lol. I thought it might be you. I really like that series. You sure do
like to
leave the audience hanging don't you? :)

And I don't do serious well either, and I usually do the warm cuddlies with
the
boys and my characters (since I only write het). But this scene is pretty
important to the plot. Methos finds the person who caused his first death,
and he
remembers it. Let's just say he's a little bit ticked.

leaving the audience *hanging* as you say is not my first aim. It's
just that the boys stop talking to me about the time the gendarmes
show up and don't start again for *weeks*.

of course, if anybody's following this thing, that's one way to get

His first death was caused by a mortal lover. She was a priestess in a
temple and
when their love affair was discovered he became a sacrifice at a festival.
Her
punishment was she had to do it. Later, after she can't find his body to
bury,
she kills herself and becomes immortal as well.

Since in the series he mentions that he was no clear memories before he took
his
first head, I went with the idea that his death was so tramatic, he blocked
it
out. So later I have his memory startign to return, but in pieces.

and of course I've been following your series. I'm a sucker for a love
story.

At last a voice from the peanut gallery. :)

The first three chapters of my Methos story are up at
http://katlinmac.virtualave.net/heartbeats1.html

So far, people like it. But so far it's been Highlander fans, not Methos
addicts, reading it.
Not that there's much difference between the two, but Methos addicts seem to be
a little more critical of what you do with the ROG.

His first death was caused by a mortal lover. She was a priestess in a temple
and
when their love affair was discovered he became a sacrifice at a festival. Her
punishment was she had to do it. Later, after she can't find his body to bury,
she kills herself and becomes immortal as well.

Since in the series he mentions that he was no clear memories before he took his
first head, I went with the idea that his death was so tramatic, he blocked it
out. So later I have his memory startign to return, but in pieces.

and of course I've been following your series. I'm a sucker for a love story.

leaving the audience *hanging* as you say is not my first aim. It's
just that the boys stop talking to me about the time the gendarmes
show up and don't start again for *weeks*.

of course, if anybody's following this thing, that's one way to get

lol. I thought it might be you. I really like that series. You sure do like
to
leave the audience hanging don't you? :)

And I don't do serious well either, and I usually do the warm cuddlies with the
boys and my characters (since I only write het). But this scene is pretty
important to the plot. Methos finds the person who caused his first death, and
he
remembers it. Let's just say he's a little bit ticked.

I'd also like clarification on that. I'm just finishing up my very first
Methos centered fanfic and who better to share it with than a bunch of Methos
addicts. :)

Personally I wouldn't toss the old guy out of my bedroom, but I'd prefer to

Perhaps the list mom would care to clarify for everyone? I don't publish

Hi all :-)
I'm new to the list so I thought I'd write a hello and ask for a couple of
clarifications. My name is Marie. I work as a Systems Analyst in Dallas,
Texas. 30-something, chocoholic, unmarried, no kids, one dog. I've been a
Methos fan from the moment he first looked up from the floor at Duncan McLeod in
'Methos'. I miss the show and eagerly read all fanfic I can get my hands on
(it's like finding new episodes <g>). I've written one short Methos piece, but
haven't been brave enough yet to post it.

Now for the clarifications: Is this list for discussion only? Or will fanfic
be
published here as well? Also, what is the rating for this list?
(Children-friendly? Adult Only?) Just want to be sure I don't breach etiquette
:-)

Let Friendship Thrive,
      Marie / chaos1@...

okay, let's see.

Hello, my name is Dark~Angel and I'm a Methos-aholic.

I'm a new member to the Methos list. I'm 20+ something and from Toronto,
Canada, and what can I say - I'm really quite passionate about the Really Old
Guy (sigh - what a cutie!) I'm also addicted to fanfic of the ROG
persuasion<g>.

Well, that's a little bit about me - hope to hear from some/all of you at some
point.

Thanks for the invite...

I'm Abby, and I've been a Methos fan since he first showed up . . . I am,
moreover, a PW fan and like *every* character he plays. I call them
(collectively), The SIMs. That's because they look similar <G>. But Methos
is certainly the centerpiece of the SIMs, and I can discuss him all day and
all night.

I met Peter at ACCESS and found him to be very open to our ideas on Methos. .
. and his own are usually right on the money IMO. So I tend to go back to
what he's said about things when trying to work it all out in my head.

Also, a tape of JUST the Methos bits works wonders when getting in the mood
to write the character!

I have several web pages, but the Main one is at :

Hi I'm KatlinMac. I've been watching Highlander for quite a while now,
but I was always a Duncan fan. Then sometimes in Season Five, those
green eyes caught me. Right now I'm working on finishing my first Methos
fanfic. It's taking me longer than I thought it would, but then again I
wanted to be as historically accurate as possible.

So far, the feedback has been positive, but I haven't posted the dreaded
chapter 4 yet. Methos gets a bit nasty. Don';t know how that's going
to go over.

Oh well. Guess I'll find out sometime.
