Thanks for that info on Paul Hardin. Don't know what I was doing
during the bit on Tiswas Reunited when Paul was featured, must've
been in the kitchen sticking on the kettle. I must learn to read the
tiswasonline site more closely then perhaps I'd've come across the
part where he is featured in who's who.

Yes.....Paul was there, I spoke to him before the show and I kind of
think he had asked not to made look like a joker...This was due toi
quite a high profile job in law....I don't think his clients could
take him serious if he had appeared on TV doing a smashing Frank
spencer inpression..........
Very nice guy.............

Actually, Paul Hardin was there in the audeience at the Reunited show.
Although he didn't take a major part in proceedings, he was mentioned
and did a bit of a grin into camera! (you may find he's featured more

Paul's a great fella, I'm in touch with him from time to time, and one
day we're hoping to do a proper interview with him for the website
(post questions on the TiswasOnline forum). He's working in the legal
profession these days, but I think he still gets out the old

I remember him of course but where he is now I don't know?

Hey all you Bucketeers!
It was great to find a forum for people who think a certain long-ago
kids Sat' morning T.V. show should NEVER be forgotten.
I have long since given up trying to relay to people my experience
of TISWAS so it is great to finally tell my story to people who are
interested.
Having read various postings, one of the main topics appears to be
how to get on the show, I know of 3 possibles:
#1 Staff,
A good friend of mine was regularly in the audience, "NOT FAIR!" you
cry, I agree but, his Aunt was Pamela Vesey (Cath Brownlow) from
ATV's 'Crossroads Motel' Soap Opera, Fair enough I suppose.
#2 Letter,
Do you remember the days when the cast held up a large card written
in magic marker & addressed to 'ATV land'? If you wanted to enter a
contest, profess your love for a cast member or get on the show it
was 'postcards only please', Hey...was the postcode B1 2JP?
#3 Divine intervention,
I got my invite from Chris himself who was with Peter Tomlinson
doing a poster signing and promo for series 2 at 'Bingly hall'
Birmingham. The hall burned down in 1983 but it stood where the
I.C.C is now.
Before the days of the N.E.C Bingly hall hosted large exhibitions
such as the 'Home Show' which is where my story begins...
I don't recall what day or even month that it happened (I was six)
but on arrival at the hall There was a sign saying "Meet the cast of
Tiswas" I didn't know much at the time but what I did know was
"THIS IS WHAT I WANT!".
After pestering my parents relentlessly they finally caved and my
reluctant Dad and I joined the line-up. After what seemed like an
eternity to me(& probably my Dad) we finally reached the Tiswas
booth. There they were, the Icons of my Sat' morning T.V. Peter
Tomlinson was frantic but Chris Tarrant seemed very amiable. I
remember thinking how shockingly blond hair was.
He asked me my name & passed me my signed poster (I wish I still had
that) and then unthinkable happened. I don't know to this day
whatever possessed me but I Lent forward and shouted "Chris I have a
joke for you"!
I felt my Dads grip tighten but then to the envy of all the other
kids, Chris said 'Sure!', nothing at my tender age could have
prepared me for what happened next. To the envy of all the other
kids Chris grabbed me under the arms and hoisted me into the Tiswas
booth, crouched down and asked me to tell him the joke!
"WHY CAN'T YOU PLAY CARDS IN THE JUNGLE? BECAUSE THERE ARE TOO MANY
CHEATAHS!"
I remember stammering through the whole thing and then he laughed
and to my amazement asked my Dad for our details as he wanted me on
Tiswas to tell the joke!
As you can imagine I was beside myself (I should have been, it was
an awful joke!), I think I told everyone on the way out of the hall,
to my Dad's Cortina, at school and now YOU!
I hope you enjoyed reading this, writing it has brought back many
happy memories.
I appeared on the show Jan 10, 1976 as "Joker of the Week".
Are there any other 'Jokers' out there?
Hello there, my name is Liz and I have just joined the group.
I was a big fan of Chris and Tiswas in the seventies. I wanted to go on the
show as a guest and wrote in to the office to ask about tickets. The show's
office was run by a lady called Jenny at the time and she told me that as I
was seventeen, the only way I could get on the show was if I won a competition. So I kept on entering them and won a pop competition about the Who! So I did get to go to the studio in 1977. Seeing the studio on the reunion show recently brought back so many great memories.
Just wanted to say hi to everyone. In fact I was actually looking for the tiswas theme and didnt realise that it was "Mathew Butler" himself running this group :-) Yes I know, call me thick.
Anyway you might be interested in my radio show this week as the reunion (and Matthew) gets a mention
It's on Wednesday 20th June on www.generationmix.co.uk from midday (UK) for an hour. Your mention is about 20 minutes in. Just thought I'd let you know

This is actually a Tiswas group. But your eyesight is probably too damaged
due to all those glam rag magazines, so I'll forgive you. Don't ask me to
shake hands with you though...

Remember the "softcore" top shelf magazines of the 1980's such as Mayfair, Men Only, Razzle etc. i love the 80's big hairstyles of the girls back then and looking through the mags brings back great memories. I am reluctantly selling my large collection of over 100 magazines now so this is a rare opportunity to get hold of these out of print collectors items. please note this is my personal collection and not a business.
The "Razzle" magazines are for sale at £3 each, 4 for £10, or 10 for £20
The "Mayfair", "Men Only", "Escort", "Parade", "Club International" etc are for sale at £4 each, 3 for £10, or 8 for £20
i also have a few bdsm magazines for the more discerning collector such as "Stern", "Kane" "Janus" and "Swish" which are £5 each or 3 for £10.
i may be willing to accept offers on larger quantities than stated above so please ask if interested.
To cover the cost of Postage and packing please add £1 if only ordering 1 magazine and 50p per magazine for any other number (ie. 4 x 50p =£2 p&p if ordering 4 magazines)if in UK.
The jpg images attached show the types of magazines i have and i have put the 12 pics into a zip file for ease of sending. i will select at random for you from the section you choose. although i cannot promise to sort out specific ones for you, if you see ones you particularly like in the image and can describe them i will try to see you get those ones. i can send you the full size jpgs of about 500kb each if you want a closer look at any of the mags. As you can see all the mags are in fairly good condition.
please email me directly at gfeeks@... with your requirements and any questions (putting "magazines for sale" or similar in the heading so they catch my eye) and i will forward contact details to you.
Please not that by making an offer to me you are confirming that you are 18 years of age or over and therefore of legal age to purchase adult magazines.

Hi David,
It is a funny old song isn't it!!
Have you been across to our TISWAS Online site yet?
There are plans afoot to create an MP3/Clips section - but perhaps
you might also be interested in a project I'm undertaking through
the site. I work in Radio so I've been busy in the studio getting
top quality transfers of the original albums and singles, for a
potential CD compilation. I'll be fiddling with them to remove
scratches and pops etc... and eventually the compilation will
feature the original album plus *every* other Tiswas single (all A&B
sides) as bonus tracks - should be fun! It'll take a while as I have
to do it in my spare time, but I'll be posting here and on Tiswas
Online when it's ready (there's a thread about it in the 'Trading
Circle' on our forum).
As for John Gorman - funny you should mention him... Peter (the
webmaster) is currently compiling an interview with the man himself
for the website. If you pop over to our forum you might just be able
to squeeze in an extra question or 2 if you're quick! He still lives
in the Midlands, Shropshire to be precise (not that far away from
out very own Matt who's in Staffs... and I'm only 2 miuntes down the
road from Lenny Henry's house in Dudley...it's all too local!!) and
John's still got his wicked 'pudlian sense of humour! Watch out for
that interview!
All the best,
Lee.
Any chance that someone could post an MP3 of Raspberry Rock? Just seen a clip
for the
first time in 20+ years, and it still has me in stitches. By the way, any news
on what John
Gorman is up to these days?
Cheers - David

http://www.tiswasonline.com is the new home for Tiswas Online.
Yes, note the .com because I can't see us ever persevering with the
atrocious service on the .co.uk domain, thanks to the worst web
hosts in the world - UKHOST4U.COM - who have lost a lot of my data,
and suspended the old site when I told them they can't sue me
for "slander". (They get easily upset)
At the time of writing this, the site isn't back up, apart from the
FORUMS. You can see this at http://www.tiswasonline.com/forums
I had to do install the forums from an August 10th back-up, hence a
lot of missing posts made recently. Sorry about that, I've been
telling UKHOST4U to recover all the data, and they say they won't
(so much for being "reliable").
Don't have any fears with this new domain. The webhosters behind it
are a massive American company, and they don't swindle people. I've
been using it for over a year for my other website, NEVER seen it go
down. (I even use the same forum software too)
TISWAS ONLINE is being reconstructed! We'll be fully back soon!
Hello David,
Just listened to your 19 1/2 minutes of audio Tiswas, bunged onto CD.
Thank you very much! It's the 27th May, 1978 edition, which happened
to be the very last show of the Fifth Series. In fact, this CD seems
to contain the last few minutes of the show (with cartoons, adverts
and pop videos edited out).
As you said, Frank Carson appears throughout, as an agony aunt, as an
impressionist, as a singer - and he seems to be improvising and ad-
libbing all the way since he keeps fluffing his lines! I wouldn't be
surprised if he'd had a few sips of the old Jack Daniels...
Also of interest is the appearance of Trev, one of the earlier Tiswas
presenters. I wonder if this was his last show? There's also a phoned-
in message from Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy. A very brief sketch with
Jeff Wayne, creator of the War of the Worlds album. And there's a
bizarre pub-singalong version of He's Got the Whole World in His
Hands.
A lot of fun. Thanks for this. A real rarity. Wish you had more.
Maybe other members of this list could send you lots of nice things
in return for this short but great CD.
Andrew
Yes indeed - very coincidentally I found and saved these details
during last week. I work at Heart FM in Birmingham, so I know
numerous people at the station (I also knew Peter's daughter Belinda
when she read the news for Beacon Radio & Heart FM... she's a honey!
However I hear that she doesn't have much contact with her father
these days...).
Unfortunately Peter left Saga earlier this year... but he still runs
his private copmany here in the Midlands, so we can get on his
trail :o)

Hello,
Been away for a week with no internet access, so I've only just seen
your message. Really excited!
Over the last year I've been in touch with about ten extremely
dedicated collectors of old programmes, including Tiswas - so I think
I know what's currently doing the rounds, and the answer is: not a
lot! The earliest fragment of a Tiswas episode that I've seen is from
1979. So you have something EXTREMELY rare.
Could I have it on CD? Please, please. Be your best friend. Happy to
show you my list.
I am drooling while I am typing. Yes, I used to record Tiswas on
audiotape as well. Wish I still had my tapes...

I've done the ARTICLES pages at http://www.tiswasonline.co.uk which
features a good load of media articles on the stars of Tiswas.
I've transcribed some of these from the newspaper scans on this
group.
However, I've stuck all of the midlands newspaper ones
under "Express And Star" for now. I know that the Express and Star
isn't the only Brummy newspaper, and I strongly suspect that one
wasn't printed in the Express and Star.
It's the "Rabbiting on with Chris" article, which is basically a
brief interview with this group's moderator Matthew Lewis/Butler,
after his appearance on the Frank Skinner Show in 2002. Was this E&S
or some midlands newspaper I don't know the name of?
Cheers.
Hello Everyone!
I thought I'd pop in and solicit your collective help!
One of my first contributions to www.tiswasonline.co.uk is to be an
article/feature/section (depending on what I can put together) on the
various Opening Titles.
You might remember the discussion about 'Atomic Butterfly' here in
June... and my little page here:
http://www.geocities.com/leewcr/downloads/atomicbutterfly.html
I've written a first article and the idea is to feature
pictures/screengrabs of the titles. There'll be an image of each
separate clip from the titles alongside a description. It'll be
arranged like a kind of photo album and the idea is that you click
onto the next image. The logo will be special, as it was animated on
screen, I'll try and prepare an animated GIF to show how it worked!
So far I can cover the years 1979-80, 1980-81, 1981-82 completely
(including a number of variations within those years).
Plus, I'm fairly sure that the Music was:
1. Atomic Butterfly (ATV-only - 1974??)
2. 'The One With The Whistle' (1975-76 Series?? until 1977-78 Series)
3. 'Dixieland/Slapstick' Tune (1978-79 series until 1979-80 series)
4. Saturday Is Tiswas Day v1 (1980-1981 series only)
5. Saturday Is Tiswas Day v2 (1981-1982 final series)
(Thanks To David Savage & MarkMCM (TV-Ark) for help with these)
We have a logo from the early years, but precious little else.
So the question is, can you help fill in the gaps?
I'm going ahead with what I've got but obviously when more/better
information comes to light I'll amend as necessary. Obviously you
can't see what I've done until it's live on the site, but honestly
anything is welcome! Duplication can lead to confirmation! :o)
Reply here, email me through this group (look for the button), post
to the Tiswas Online forum, pigeon post, answers on a postcard to
Tiswas, ATV Land, Birmingham, B1 2JP (those last 2 won't work... I
wish they did!)
That is what they want... and it's real too!!
Happy Flans,
Lee B.
