Greetings I thought I would invite various people to check out a
new yahoo group that I just started and welcome them to join if they
find it of interest to them. Since there doesn't seem to be any
group to represent these great shows I thought it would be nice if
there was. jerry zwecher

Bob Kinoshita had a most enjoyable birthday celebration this past
weekend - he really got a kick out of all the pictures and letters
people sent in wishing him well and relating how his works impacted
their personal lives. People from all over wrote in , Australia , The
UK , Brazil , Canada and the US.
Mike Clark took a picture of Bob receiving our gift and also described
some of the ways Bob spent his day celebrating (Bowling of course!).
Also Mike speaks about a possible May 19th event involving Bob.

July with Season Three to come out next January.
Not confirmed yet -- but it's on their schedule as of this writing.

My understanding is that we won't get season 2 or 3 unless season 1
does very well.

I was so glad today when I found on amazon.com that they are listing
the Lost in Space tv series, season 1 on DVD on January 13, 2004.

Cant wait for 1-13-04 now, Wonder when season 2 & 3 will come out.

Hi All,
I've started making some changes to the Lost in CyberSpace website.
Most notably, I've started using a more powerful drop down menu at
the top of the screen. With this I can nest sub-menu's which reduces
the amount of clutter on the screen.
Please take a look and let me know your thoughts.
Best regards,
Kirk
Hi All,
I've put some images I took at the MICKEY SINARDI'S Showstopper
Stars on Parade on my website. This convention was help on Saturday
Nov 8, 2003. I mainly took pictures of my favorite Irwin Allen
stars, including Deanna Lund, Don Matheson, Don Marshall, Robert
Colbert, Allan Hunt, Del Monroe, Terry Becker, Bob May and Marta
Kristen.
When I arrived I immediately ran into Bob May and Noreen. Great
seeing both of them and seeing Noreen for the first time. Funny how
the internet makes us so close. When I went into the main room I
went first to see the Voyage people. Del and his lovely wife Linda
were there, as well as, Terry and Allan. Linda took a great shot
with the four of us. I then went to talk to Marta and Bob and got a
great shot of them. Bob has been dieting and really has taken off
some weight. Marta looked especially gorgeous! I then talked to
Robert Colbert. It was great seeing him again! Linda again took
another pic for me. And finally I spoke with the Giants crew. They
were all great and Deanna was rivaling Marta! Irwin sure knew how to
pick them.
They were all very talkative and took the time to answer any and all
questions. Some how I missed June Lockhart :( Next time I guess.
Stefan Arngrim was either a no show or came after I left. I really
wanted to meet him :(
A few of the star, Don Matheson, Don Marshall and Robert Colbert had
their new cards with them and were autographing them.
As far as fans go, I did get a chance to talk to Noreen and Kathy G
(Zorro). Unfortunately, I didn't see Ray Dutczak. Everyone said
Ray was supposed to be there?
That's my report. Go to my site at http://lostincyberspace.net/
and scroll down to the "CONVENTIONS" section and click on
"2003/11/8 - MICKEY SINARDI'S Showstopper Stars on Parade".
Best regards,

LostinCyberSpace.net
Thanks. Read a shorter article about that, so I appreciate the
details.
Sounds good so far...with one exception. No Dr. Smith character? I
think you need
him for dramatic tension. In the earliest episodes especially, he
was the main reason
for watching the show! I understand their wanting to cut any ties
to the silly, prissy
"old" Dr. Smith, but that sounds like throwing out the baby with the
bath water. "Lost in Space" without Dr. Smith would be like bringing
back "Dallas"
without J. R. Ewing. WHY? Hope
they reconsider that idea!
I even had a casting suggestion for WB: Malcolm McDowell. Saw him
on the "new"
"Fantasy Island", and sometimes the way he looks and talks reminds me
very much of
Jonathan Harris.

The WB has won the rights to the new "Lost in Space," shelling out more than
$2 million for the red-hot family drama.
At least three other webs made serious bids for the 20th Century Fox TV/Fox
TV Studios project, which is being put together by scribe Doug Petrie ("Buffy
the Vampire Slayer"), helmer John Woo and the Kevin Burns/Jon Jashni shingle
Synthesis (Daily Variety, Sept. 24). Terence Chang and Suzanne Zizzi of Woo's
Lion Rock Prods. are also on board as exec producers.
In the end, however, the WB's track record with both fantasy skeins and
family-based hours -- along with a healthy pilot production commitment --
convinced
the studios involved to set up "Lost" at the Frog.
"We think the WB is the perfect network to support a show like this," said
20th Century Fox TV prexy Gary Newman.
Along with its $2 million-plus pilot commitment, weblet had to rework its
business template with 20th in order to make the deal, agreeing to both a
premium
license fee of roughly $1.2 million per episode and a provision that ensures
the studio will, in success, eventually snag a full-cost license fee for the
series. Frog plans to offer the arrangement to other studios, though only for
top-tier projects with extraordinary auspices.
"We needed to create a deal that was advantageous to both ourselves and 20th
Century Fox TV," said WB co-CEO Jordan Levin, who confirmed the new agreement
but declined to discuss specifics.
Frog and 20th clashed three years ago over a renewal deal for "Buffy the
Vampire Slayer." That history no doubt was one reason both sides wanted to make
sure a solid financial framework was in place before they embarked on a costly
new hourlong project.
'Rewarding' relationship
"With the exception of (the final season of) 'Buffy,' we've had a good and
rewarding business relationship with 20th," Levin said. " 'Reba' has been the
most recent example of shows that have been win-win for both sides."
Indeed, Levin confirmed the WB is going forward with a full season of 20th's
"Angel," which has done well in its new timeslot this season. Net had an
option to cut back to 13 episodes if it wanted to do so.
As for "Lost," Levin said the WB was the most logical home for the
Endeavor-packaged project, which, like "Buffy," will explore a larger theme (the
modern
family) against a fantastic backdrop (outer space). Petrie will write and exec
produce, with Woo attached to direct via his Lion Rock Prods.
Lead-in opportunities
What's more, "We had a relationship with Doug. He speaks our language as a
writer," Levin said. "There are also compelling lead-ins we have available with
'Charmed' and 'Smallville.' And we've been a network that's proven the ability
to program with both the family and fantasy genres and keep those shows on
the air."
Petrie confirmed his vision for "Lost in Space" is for a show that's "not
about hardware."
"It's not about laser blasters and starships and funky aliens, though there
will be bags of all of those," Petrie said. "That stuff is just the best window
dressing, the way monsters provided a way for 'Buffy' to say high school is
hell. The show is going to be more based on what's going on with the typical
American family rather than a sweeping space opera."
Newman said Petrie, Woo, Burns and Jashni have "come up with a great
contemporary take on this property that makes it accessible and a great
coming-of-age
story."
Won't play doctor
New "Lost" won't feature a Dr. Smith character, though there will be a robot.
Skein will be set in 2097.
Concurring with Newman, Burns said the WB "made a strong and convincing case
that they knew best how to position and promote this property."
"Doug's vision for this show is so perfectly detailed and realized, it was
important that we went to a network that really understood it," he added.
Synthesis, formed by Burns and Jashni to bring new life to the creations of
Irwin Allen, last revived "Lost" at NBC as a telepic; that project went away
following the death of original "Space"-man Jonathan Harris.
Pod squad
Fox TV Studios topper David Grant said the "Lost" deal is an example of how
FTVS' pod strategy can work successfully.
"It's important to pay attention to these hallmark Irwin Allen properties,"
he said. Burns and Jashni are "experts on anything Irwin Allen. And the goal of
Fox TV Studios is to provide a home for really talented people."
In addition to running Synthesis, Burns heads nonfiction production shingle
Prometheus Entertainment, while Jashni is prexy of Ashok Amritraj's Hyde Park
Entertainment.

"If I can't blow up the world in the first ten seconds, the show is a
flop."
-- Irwin Allen
"He used to invite me to the screenings of his movies. 'The Poseidon
Adventure', which was at the 'Pantageous Theatre'; I sat on the aisle, I
remember. And Irwin was dancing up and down the aisles every time there
was a flood or the ship turned upside down. Oh, it turned him on.
[laugher] Every time he moved pass me, he'd say, 'How do you like it so
far?' [making numerous poking gestures] I was black and blue. [laughter]
Finally I said, 'Keep your damn hands off! I'm really hurting!' and then
there was 'The Towering Inferno'. He invited me to his wedding, for
whatever reason. I have no idea. He married Sheila Matthews, who has
been his lady for many years. It was a big, glossy wedding at the
'Beverly Wilshire Hotel', on Wilshire Blvd. Everybody was there, Groucho
Marx, Fred Astaire, and all kinds of people. And in true Irwin Allen
fashion, the dining room was done up like 'The Arabian Nights' or some
foolishness. It was your average Hollywood wedding, I must tell you."

Starbase Atlanta convention (the very first convention that he ever
attended)
Atlanta, GA., Nov. 14-16, 1986
Transcribed by Bill Anchors
From the book, "The Lost in Space
25th Anniversary Celebration: 1965 - 1990"
- Edited by Flint Mitchell
and William E. Anchors, Jr.
In 2002, author, John W. Law presented a 107-page illustrated
retrospective book, entitled; "Irwin Allen - The Disaster Years", as a
tribute in honor of Mr. Allen's fabulous career of filmmaking, producing
some of the most truly spectacular films ever created in movie-making
history. The book features a look back at Irwin Allen's wonderful career
and offers a glimpse of not only his fantastic blockbuster action films,
but his beloved television work as well.
The book was published by a small press book publishing firm located in
the San Francisco Bay Area, and is only available direct from their
website, or by mail from its publisher, "Aplomb Publishing", for just
$6.00 plus shipping.
Sales of the book, as well as other published works by the firm, are
basically by "word-of-mouth" from satisfied customers, because they do
very little advertising of their own for their products.
So, I suppose you might say, that I've decided to take on the task as
messager, after discovering the book at their website, to spread the
word, of its existence and availability throughout Irwin Allen fandom to
those who might be interested, and aren't already aware of it.
Go now. Read. Enjoy. Marvel. :-)

I have also just received my Mark Goddard Lost in

suspect it was in the 1969 movie "Marooned" with Richard

The helmet has the letters CCCP which I think was used by the

All I have heard is that it has been rejected by NBC.

I don't mean to seem insensitive about Jonathan Harris'
passing on November 3, 2002 , but does anyone know if any
of "Lost in Space: The Journey Home" was completed by NBC
at the time of his death? I read in a Sci-fi forum that

Hell yeah I'm all for it. I hate Columbia House Video for starters.
But the thing is, I want to see Lost In Space and the other Irwin
Allens shows put on DVD in boxed season collectors sets like
Paramount Pictures has been releasing Star Trek The Next Generation.
Also to note that other TV shows have been released in order of
season, I.E. The X-Files, StarGate SG-1, Space 1999, Babylon 5, All
in the Family, M*A*S*H*, Sanford and Son, The Jeffersons, and The
Simpsons.
I think Lost in Space deserves this kind of a release, and to offer
behind the scenes peeks, and interviews with the cast would be really
great.
Its gotten to where today, there is nothing on TV to watch anymore,
so with TV DVD collector sets, all one has to do is put in ones
favorite TV show DVD and select the episode you want to watch and
away you go.
You can be certain I will write to both these men and express my
interest in seeing LIS on DVD. I hope that somtime in the near
future, other Company's will put the great TV shows of the past on
DVD, such as Knight Rider, The Dukes of Hazzard, A-Team, and
Battlestar Galactica.
