I haven't actually been watching the prime reruns
for a while now as i have had the last few stories on
tape anyway. I see this as a good thing in that i
don't have to sit through The Space Museum which would
destroy my brain if i ever watched it again, i'm sure
(I'll test the theory on my flatmate - it'll be like
killing two stones with one bird)<br><br>I'm looking
forward to the Time Meddler this week though. I saw that
last time it was played in NZ and really enjoyed it.

ahhh, the <a href=http://dr-who.sf.org.nz target=new>http://dr-who.sf.org.nz</a>

First of all: hi all!<br><br>I have all the

I don't usually buy many of the videos apart from
Troughton stuff. But I am recording them all off Prime! I
get all the missing episode soundtracks being
released on CD at the moment, and I'm gonna get all the
DVDs. It's my dream to have all the episodes in the
best possible format. Yeah! Plus have you seen all the
stuff they're putting in these DVDs (apart from The
Five Doctors)? It's gonna be awesome buying these,
even if I already have the VHS, which is the case with
Remembrance (but that's my favourite story
anyway).<br><br>James.

How many of you were watching this evening's
episode (Tuesday night) of Doctor Who? I did, and noticed
that the 'Next Episode' caption was left intact at the
end for a change. That's extremely interesting,
particularly as every other episode has had the caption
removed. They even kept in the last cliffhanger as well
which was even better, particularly as some stories had
had their cliffhanger endings eliminated (I refer to
'The Daleks', 'Inside the Spaceship', 'The Rescue' and
'The Romans').

Target books: well, i have just about all of
them. I don't read them anymore they just sit on my
shelf and fill up space (a LOT of space).<br><br>I have
about half the Dr Who NAs and about 1/3 Benny NAs and
about half the MAs. As for BBC books i have the first
six they released (they were on sale). My Dr who book
buying has slowed down since then, only picking up the
occassional book to fill a hole.<br><br>While we're on the
topic of buying stuff though. Who buys the videos when
they come out? I was pretty constant up untill earlier
this year, buying about 90% of the ones released.

I'd be interested to know how many of you still
have copies of the old Target Novelisations. I have
quite a few - at least 50. A large quantity of them are
second hand, unfortunately, but those ones that are
first hand are in pretty good nick. My fave is 'Doctor
Who and the Deadly Assassin' which I got as a
Christmas present ten years ago. My least fave is 'Doctor
Who and the Crusaders'. I read it when I was at High
School and just thought it was too waffly and boring to
read. If I re-read it again now, I don't know whether I
would find it exciting or not.

I bought the face of Evil as soon as it came out
and was disappointed to see that there wasn't an
interview on it. I e-mailed Roadshow and for the first time
ever they actually replied to my e-mail!!!!!!! On the
first batch of videos they forgot to include the
interview. Once they realised this they corrected it. I then
went back to Whitcoulls and ordered the correct video.
You should be able to go back to the shop you bought
it from and order the version with the interview.
Hopefully you didn't buy it too long ago!!!! Anyway I
wouldn't hold my breath for a reply from Roadshow, but
stranger things have been known to happen!!!!!

I remeber reading about the Face of Evil thing a
while back in TSV. It was an error which has now been
corrected, and you can arrange a replacement at the store
you bought the tape from. I don't know why you would
want to buy it anyway. The interview would be the best
part I'd imagine.<br><br>Man, it's a generalisation,
but the historicals rule and the sci fi stories are
all soooo awful on Prime at the moment. The best has
been the Dalek Invasion of Earth for mine, but The
Romans is meant to be stupid, and it was really good.
Hardly farcical comedy, but I don't think it was meant
to be. It's a bit more humourous than most, sure,
but still great stuff. The best line was when Barbara
did Ians hair and he starts sprouting all that roman
nonsence - then Barbara sys "Well that was a mistake" to
herself. I found that halarious for some reason. Funniest
line of the series so far!!!<br><br>James.

Hooray! I have some new friends at last. Hi
everybody and welcome to the club. Sorry I haven't been
writing in a while but I have been rather busy at Telford
Polytechnic this past week at a Rotary Conference of a sort.
On the topic of Prime's Re-runs, the end credits
used in The Sensorites, ep. 6 were those used for the
prints sent to North America. This comes from a reliable
source by the name of Andrew Pixley, DWM's archivist.
The Next Episode captions are a bit annoying, though
who thought that it was dumb that the deletion of the
caption from 'The Keys of Marinus', ep. 6 was puzzling -
especially as it appears on the video release. I even think
deleting the final lines of dialogue leading into a
cliffhanger ending (eg 'Inside the Spaceship' 2, 'The Rescue'
2, 'The Romans' 4) is also rather stoopid if you ask
me.<br><br>Oh well. Thanks to Alden Bates for mentioning my
club on the NZDWFC website. As soon as I get back to
Dunedin, where I am a Varsity student, I'll send you an
article from the ODT announcing the return of Doctor Who
on Prime TV as a thank you gift.<br><br>On a
completely different topic, does anyone own a copy of 'The
Face of Evil' on video? If so, does your copy contain
the bonus footage that is promoted on the front and
back covers? Mine doesn't and I am rather annoyed at
that. I've emailed Roadshow Entertainment and posted a
message on The Restoration Team's Website. Once I get a
reply from them, I'll let you guys know.

don't think too many big fans would be too concerned

wouldn't have realised the significance if it had been
screened anyway.<br><br>I last heard that Roadshow was

The Prime reruns rock! How can you guys complain?
If you've ever watched any shows regularly on Sky 1,
then I guess you're immune to the prime logo. And the
ad breaks have been reduced from 2 to one! Thats
pretty good. Presumably that's so the show can fit into
its half hour slot. And those next episodes were
removed from the prints made of the episodes back when
they were being released on video, and we are getting
those same prints (it would be a bit uneconomical to do
new prints just for one station in NZ). But they
leave them on now days - for all new video/DVD
releases.<br><br>My biggest problem with Prime is they didn't show
The Lion! I know it probably wouldn't make sense for
some people to see one episode of a four part story,
but an explanation could be put at the start of the
episode... Oh well.<br><br>Talking of DVD - I heard rumours
of plans for The Five Doctors to come out in
Australia - anyone know anything about this?<br><br>James.

Blame the BBC!!!!!! It was a common practice to
remove the next episode caption when they first released
William Hartnell stories on video. The final episode of
the Web Planet also had the closing credits re-done
in a more modern lettering with a blacker
background!!!! This is exactly what we saw at the end of the
Sensorites part 6!!!!!! I have no idea why they would re-do
the credits!!!!!!!<br><br>I'm more annoyed, though,
at the little word "PRIME" which is constantly in
the top right-hand corner of the screen!!!!!!

Oh, it's understandible why they're doing it -
they think casual viewers won't know there are
episodes missing, and will think Prime is intentionally
skipping... In the end, I don't think it matters as most of
the stories are intact... I assume this practice will
end once we get to the Troughton era at any
rate...<br><br>I'm more miffed about the ad breaks coming in really
weird places. :)<br><br>Alden.

Well, I have to admit that I am thoroughly
enjoying the re-runs of Doctor Who on Prime TV, but I have
to admit that I am disappointed at the removal of
the 'Next Episode' captions from some episodes. The
episodes that have had their 'Next Episode' captions
removed are....<br><br>'100,000 BC': 'The Firemaker'; all
the captions from 'The Mutants' ('The Daleks'); all
the captions from 'Inside the Spaceship' (and the end
cliffhanger in 'The Brink of Disaster'); the final two
episodes of 'The Keys of Marinus' ('Sentence of Death' and
'The Keys of Marinus'); the final episode of 'The
Aztecs'; 'The Sensorites':'A Desperate Venture'. To me,
and to other fans, to remove the captions is a
mistake and very annoying, particularly as they usually
appear over the last scene of the episode, and in some
ways the captions are part of the episode. But then,
perhaps I'm old-fashioned. What do other people think?

I dont even know who Dr. Who is.... I just
remember how hard it is to start a new club. It really
helps if you post messages every day and keep going,
and dont quit, after January 13 2000 Ive managed to
get about 16 members from scratch, and all I did was
log in every day and keep trying, so GO FOR IT!!! IT
WILL TAKE A WHILE BUT IT IS WORTH IT!! another thing
is to e-mail people, just like anybody's e-mail you
can get, and tell them to join the club, and some of
them eventually will, just dont be over persestiant
with e-mailing people, and dont act like your stalking
them. You can go to clubs made escpecally for founders
and find out more on how to get good active members
quickly , so keep trying!!

Welcome to all Kiwi Fans of Doctor Who. As my
founding message states, this club is specifically for all
NZ fans of the cult BBC Sci-Fi series that we all
enjoy watching.<br><br>I should introduce myself a bit.
I am a 21 year old male, currently studying at
Otago University. The first episode of Doctor Who I
ever saw was the 1985 repeat of Spearhead From Space,
Episode 4. From then on, I watched the show on an
irregular basis. It wasn't until I started reading the
novelisations in the early 90's that I became hooked on the
Doctor's adventures. I am the proud owner of at least 20
videos, and at least 50 novelisations. I also regularly
collect Marvel Comics's Doctor Who Magazine (which I
encourage you to subscribe to, if you don't
already).<br><br>Currently, I'm studying for exams, but I have been following
the re-runs of the show on Prime TV. I also have a
website dedicated to Doctor Who called 'The High
Council'. The URL for this site is posted in the Links
section on this page. I am not a member of the New
Zealand Doctor Who Fan Club (NZDWFC) but am seriously
thinking of joining up.<br><br>Whew! Well, that's me. Now
then, who's next?
