sadmad: I've got a couple of other observations involving the final
episode which, even after all this time, still have me buffaloed.

MM: Fire away.

sadmad: As we discussed previously, Karolina made some remarks pretty
much scoffing at the idea that Cat actually had any genuine feelings
for David. But then, near the end, Linda is heard to say in a
voiceover -

OS: Uh-oh! Voiceover! Always trouble.

sadmad: Yeah, I understand that. But I listened to this one several
times and, for the life of me, I couldn't detect any telltale cut and
paste edit.

MM: Which one are you referring to?

sadmad: It's when Cat and Linda are seated together at a table there
in the Villa right after Petra's elimination. We hear Linda say 'I
definitely think Cat likes David'. Do you guys remember that?

OS: You're absolutely right. That really got our attention, too. Like
you, we couldn't detect any cut and paste edit on there either.

MM: Shortly after that, we hear Linda say 'I didn't know that Cat had
any feelings for him at the beginning, and all of a sudden she really
seems to like him a lot'.

sadmad: So what do you make of that? Did Linda not get the memo from
Karolina about Cat then?

MM: Baffling.

sadmad: You'd think that it maybe would have played better at that
stage of the proceedings if Linda had voiced pessimism about Cat's
feelings for David. After all that was a theme the editors had tried
to propagate throughout most of the show - giving us interview clips
of Olinda saying that very thing. I would think that if she had had
any doubt about that, she just wouldn't have said anything.

OS: True.

MM: (laughs) Sorry, sadmad. We got nothing for you.

sadmad: What was even more baffling was hearing Linda say to Cat
then 'It's, like, very strange, but somehow I feel that it's, like,
right that it's me and you who are here for the last. We've been,
like, the most, you know, real and genuine persons since the
beginning.'

OS: Yep. And the thing was, that wasn't any voiceover either, of
course. We actually see Linda saying this to Cat directly.

sadmad: Exactly. 'Real' and 'genuine' are an interesting choice of
words for her to apply toward someone her pal Karolina would accuse
of playing up to David the whole time in order to win, after having
found out, of course, about what the real premise of the show was
through surreptitious or underhanded agencies.

MM: Absolutely.

sadmad: And 'real' and 'genuine' were also an interesting choice of
words for her to apply toward someone she, herself, would later
accuse of going behind her back and telling David personal and
privilged information (as to her desire to -- and reason for wanting
to -- leave the show at the time of the 'Ranch Date') - like she did
in that interview to the guy from the Prague Post.

OS: Again - so very true.

sadmad: Interesting that Cat never says anything back to Linda about
HER being real and genuine.

MM: Unless, with that business about Cat being 'real' and 'genuine',
Linda was being facetious?

sadmad: Hmmm. Remember, we get to look right at Linda when she said
that to Cat. If there was any facetiousness or irony in that
statement, well, all I can say is that her facial expression or body
language doesn't, in any way, betray that.

OS: Statues on Easter Island, sadmad. Statues on Easter Island.
