I make up stories about Jeannie, the djinn of her particular reality, as
well as many, many more realities. I make up my own "rules" sometime using
those of "historical fact" sometime new ones. Thus, why can't the "fact"
that Jeannie is a beautiful genie be enough? If Sidney Sheldon had intended
to make the show as historically "accurate" on the djinn as possible, it
would have a _very_ different show indeed. As would have The Brass Bottle.
But, modern fantasies are rarely historically accurate, yet they can still
be quite enjoyable. Just think of what Disney's Aladdin would have been
like if Disney Corp knew how to make an accurate fairytale : )
