After all is done, I find myself having mixed emotions about Hustle.
On the plus side, the return of Adrian Lester is a great and wonderful
thing. Robert Glenister and Robert Vaughn were wonderful as always.
Even Rob Jarvis was on the mark. I also liked that the writers took
some interesting turns here. "Return of the Prodigal" brought the new
crew together with Albert pooling the strings from behind bars.
"Politics" was (IIRC) the only time where the crew let the mark (in
this case, a MP) have the opportunity to do the right thing. I also
liked that they did not immediately have Mickey and Emma hook up.
These moves keep a show fresh.

However, not everything worked for me. For one thing, there was too
little Albert. I am not sure if they cut back on Robert Vaughn's work
load because of his age/condition, but he was absent for far too long
in this series. Also, while I eventually liked the character of Emma,
I find her brother Sean to be an irritant, even with his great memory
skills. We need Sean to be less of a pain the next go-around.

In the end, I guess problematic Hustle is better than no Hustle at all
(which was where I thought we were a few months ago). If they can get
the bugs fixed, though, we will be in good shape.

Later,

Will

LIKES:

The return of Mickey (still as smooth as they come).
Ash is still around, thank goodness.
Emma has potential even though I like Stacie better.

DISLIKES:
Albert being in jail and not regularly on the team.
Miss Danny and Stacie A LOT.
Hate Sean; Danny was so much better as the young apprentice grifter.

IN CONCLUSION:

I am not as happy with this series as previous ones. I understand
actors come and go and that Robert Vaughn is not as spry as he once
was, but I think that these changes are not as effective as they could
be. Still, Mickey, Ash, and (possibly) Emma are enough to keep me
watching.

I think they mean for Sean and Emma to be the new eye candy. Emma
might pull it off; she certainly has more of a variety of looks than
Stacie. Sean, on the other hand, is not impressing me right now.

I am not sure. OTOH, I am not sure if Mickey was posing as an
American, a British, or an Australian Naval officer. I didn't think
the shoulder boards were British, but I need to review that and get
back to you.

Leave it to us Americans to be disrespectful. :)

Perhaps, but I have seen other shows botch this sort of thing before
as well.

Speaking of things that bug me, Sean really bugs me. Puts Danny (and
Billy) into perspective.

Agreed. Eddie is the Everyman in this group.

It is possible. Series four seemed a bit off balance without Mickey
and to lose Danny, Stacie, and (for a lot of the time) Albert may
really tip the scales.

Hi

Was it me or did they salute the American way, not the English way on
the first episode?

The English way is having the palm of your hand facing outwards, and
the back to your forehead. Reason for this dates back through
centuries as it was thought disrespectful to the person you were
saluting to see the dirty side of your hand.

You'd think that for a programme like this they'd get that little
morsel right at least.

Things like this really bug me.

Any one else have any little things that irritate.

As for the series, it does show potential, although the new kid on the
block is, in my opinion, too much of an idiot to be a grifter.

One thing I'm sooooo extremely happy with is that Rob Jarvis (Eddie)
has a bigger part. I loved him from the first 4 series, and always
thought it would be nice to have him as a main main character.

Although I have to agree too that we need Danny back for some
eye-candy. Personally I think they will, wrongly, lose viewers
because of his absence.

Take care

episode one was a bit of slow burner- two sets of grifters was good
twist, though i guessed the fake wall quite early.

the new characters have some promise, though (like most on here?),
I misss the others- are they coming back later in the series,

Hi !

I am new here.

Hustle is broadcasted in my country (Belgium) once a week - and we are
now starting the 4th series.

I have been told that there is still no confirmation for a 5th series.

Is there any hope there will be one ?

Is there any possibility to send mails, sign a 'petition' to convince
de producers to continue this excellent programme ?

I haven't seen Spiderman 3 yet, which is sad considering I'm a comic book geek (hence the username and email address ;) ).  I usually hit the comic book movies opening weekend but I've been too busy and have a sinking feeling I'll end up seeing it when it comes out on video.  like every other movie the past few years.  *sigh*

As for Billy....

I missed what he said about his background, will have to try to catch that episode again.  He did grow on me but is still very green, worse than Danny was.  The only thing that really bugged me was, I'll give a spoiler warning just in case.

Couple episodes back when Billy posed as a Russian.  I'm not racist or anything but I don't remember seeing any black Russians in all my 30 some years of living.  Granted I've never been outside of the states, but between having Russian blood in me and having had Russian tenants for years (not to mention shopping in the Russian shops on Devon back in the 80s, I've never seen a black Russian.  Shoooot, I'm light for a middle easterner, in fact I actually look more Russian than I do my own ethnicity.  For years I've had people not get it when they see me.  It's not until I tell them what I am that they either say they see it now, or just oh.  1 person in college asked me if I was Russian when a friend introduced us.  That was the first thing out of her mouth and I was nearly stunned silent at the question since no one has gotten it.

Anyway, getting back to the show, I liked the season finale but it was weird.  I didn't keep track of the episodes (as far as numbers goes) and for some really odd reason, AMC has not shown a single preview this season.  First I thought I missed them because I hopped over to food network during commercials but the past couple episodes I actually left it on amc and nothing.  As I was saying, or as my honor's US history teacher used to say, but I digress (he said that OFTEN during that year) I wasn't sure if it was the finale or not.  I nearly bit my nails when I saw the bomb and it looked like they were still on the boat when it blew up.  Even my mom who was getting ready for bed because she couldn't keep her eyes open sat down and watched the rest of it at that point.  I should add that I'm not a nail biter, but I came close to it last night.  so glad they didn't get blowed up in the boat.  :)

I liked the call Danny got from Mickey at the end and how Danny's like the prodigal son.  Wanting to reassure Albie in the diner but not feeling comfortable even with placing his hand on Albie's arm.  Then at the end they hug, and that chat...  Very nice touch.  :)  Just like Mickey, he's been leaning on Albert for support and advice, even as he's become more comfortable as team leader.

Ok enough of my ramblings, it's after midnight and I should go to bed since I do have to work tomorrow.  *sigh*

I am not so keen on Billy. We have been down this road before with
Danny, only Billy continually has himself in the proper booty-kissing
position.

I miss Adrian Lester (BTW, did anyone see him in Spider-Man III or
did his part get cut?).

I hate to say this but that doesn't work for me at all.  I have to be up at 5 Thursday morning, or at least that's what time my alarm goes off.  I've been too tired to get up then lately and have been falling out of bed when I need to leave (after 6).  *sigh*  so the less reasons for me to be online after 10:30, the better (Hustle's on at 9 here in CST)  s

sorry.  It's just that I work for a news paper and (actually this is good) help manage the weekly and nitch publications (as opposed to the daily paper, we have both).  The conflict is that Thursday is press day, and I am thankfully spared from starting work at 3 am, however, I do start at 7 and live 45 minutes from work.  1.5 hours from my distribution centers which I will be going to (hopefully) starting next week to stack out my carriers and then will have to rush to another DC closer to home yet still a half hour away to get my other carriers out the door.  In total that's 4 places I'll be at on a regular basis, 5 if I ever have to stop in the office which is where one set of papers is printed (and where I usually am Thursday mornings).  The ones that go further away from home are printed at one of our other offices (the only other one with a press) and are out the door starting at midnight.

So now you know, I'm dead Wed nights and am not ready to wake up Thursday mornings (like today, what else is new?).  This is why Fridays would work best for me.  I have no life and am always home on date night(s), unless I'm serving at church.

I was just in the chat room with our fearless leader, Sam. I was also
watching this weeks Hustle at the same time and it occurred to me, if
AMC is shows Hustle as reruns at the same day and time, it could be a
convenient to set a weekly chat time for right after the show is over on
Wednesdays.

I haven't heard if Hustle will still be shown on Wednesdays at 10.

If it is, what does everyone think of this as a chat time?
