Bernard Cornwell is the author of the "Sharpe's Rifles" series of
historical novels, which has also been made into a 14-episode TV
series starring Sean Bean.
Sharpe is a former enlisted man who was raised to officer status by
Wellington and put in the 95th Rifles.
In his latest book in the series, Cornwell has Sharpe fighting in
Portugal. Early in the French attack, a Rifleman Dodd is separated
from Sharpe's company.
An as us Forester fans know, Rifleman Dodd is the American title of
the book Death to the French by C.S. Forester.
If you wish Dodd had been expanded into a series like Hornblower, may
I recommend you give Cornwell a read. I think you'll be well satisfied.
